Today we have one of the best tactical lights for under 40 Dollars, if you find something better I need to see it lol. But seriously though, this little light is a beast. 350 lumens on high, a strobe and low mode of 40 lumens. Its near perfection for EDC or a brilliant backup light (pun intended)
Anyway see for yourself and see if this can fit into your system or be your no.2 for when your expensive primary light goes down.
Seriously recommended for law enforcement and military for general use.
IPX7 and can accept CR123, AA and both Alkaline and Lithium options

You might consider checking out the Streamlight Protac HL-X! What a beast! Larger than the 1L-1AA but not crazy. Not practical for edc for most people but if you’re a cop it could be a duty light.

Great advice
I was debating between this or a microstream usb for edc however the 6400 Candelas on the 1l-1aa is making me lean more towards it for my edc light. any advice?

Personally that battery options makes it super practical. Plus if the USB dies and you in a place with no charger or there is a battery fault your stuck. The 1L-1AA you just change the battery out and boom, back in the saddle. Plus its cheaper too

1L-1AA all the way! Microstream (even macro) is too weak. 2k-ish candelas. Cr123,AA,AAA = 3 power source options! All around much better light.
Outstanding flashlight, but Streamlight should made it capable of 14500 and 10440 batteries as well. Would make the ultimate multi-fuel flashlight around.

It is capable. Also 16340. But the downside is because they have 3,7V the low mode is as bright as the high. Keeppower has a 16340 that has 3V with this it should work normal.

Already works but not optimized for it. Also uses aaaa. And rechargeable 123a’s.

so 16340 works OK or just on low mode?
how abt this one vs the 2L-X @ 500 lumens? that is like 150 lumens and only 165 beam distance ... which the the 1L-AA is alr 160 beam distance.. i am leaning towards the coyote brown version :)

i'm not aware of a oem solution but the head size is similar to surefire scout so might be best to measure and a bit of trial and error. a good workaround which is super cheap is a plastic bag. Size is 22.72mm or .8950 inch (on my light +/- 1mm) let me know if you find a solution, i'd be happy to know one also
Even AAA work, also 16340 but because they have 3,7V the low is as bright as high. But keeppower has a rechargeable 16340 that has 3V with this you should have the normal low. The tailswitch is kind of mushy. Also the thread is quite short and flimsy.

Streamlight doesn’t recommend the 16340’s. They’ll function but might burn out the light. Could be a $40 experiment I guess. 🤷♂️

Just quickly looking at the specs. It's got a high CRI chip. Generally speaking the output of these are lower than recorded due to the way the chips render colour. Peak candella is a good way to consider output. But I'd also consider that peak brightness isn't the key spec. It's almost like who can get the brightest spec in small package. But for me edc is about useful output vs runtime and quality beam. Just some food for thought

aa, aaa, I think max voltage is 3V so no rechargeable lithium cells

Me run an 14500 rechargeable and rcr 123 but no low beam. High only ang strobe.
