I just started a plumbing job. I realized very quickly that I needed a good edc flashlight for my job. I use the Streamlight TLR-8 A for my edc firearm, which is an amazing light as well. So, I am a fan of the Streamlight brand. I seen the microstream and macrostream light on their website, but was hesitant to purchase one because I was unsure if the size was a comfortable fit for an edc flashlight. On a job yesterday, the customer handed me a Streamlight macrostream to use to look into a clean out. I flipped the light around to see exactly what light I was holding. I told him that I was definitely going to order me one after seeing and using it. He actually gave me his brand new macrostream! I tried my best not to take his light, but he insisted and said he had six more. He told me I’d just have to get a charger, which I have an old Android charger, so no big deal. This light is amazing!

Sitting here under a shade tree watching your videos when I should be working in the yard. Hmmm...if my wife comes out, I’m blaming it on you. Great content AS ALWAYS! I often worry about the direction of society and the younger generations, but seeing the character of you, your wife and family, this old mind of mine is somewhat put to ease, knowing the torch of life is being ran with in good hands. @@cyclopsamurai The macrostream is still in the package, so I guess I’d say the Microstream fits my needs perfectly. I can’t even feel it in my pocket. I carry it every weekday, unless I misplace it over the weekend and can’t find it for Monday.

I just bought one of these little beauties. My work requires me to have a primary & back up flashlight. My personality requires me to always have a flashlight (among other things). This little fella has quickly become my favorite summer EDC light. Nice review.

So far, this light exactly what I've always been looking for. 500 lumens is the sweet spot, IMO. Absolutely blinding at night, but as you stated, also great for everyday use with the tap-to-low feature. It's low profile, the pocket/hat clip is perfection, and one doesn't have to worry about batteries. My only con is that the throw leaves something to be desired for a 500 lumen light, but that's also a pro in other ways, as it lights up everything nearby. As an EDC light, I think this is perfect.

Bought one when they first came out, great light. Fell out of the front pocket of my shorts, someone is very happy with what they found lol.

I have the micro. LOVE it. Having said that, kind of wish I had gotten the macro instead just for the grip size. Might upgrade myself for Christmas and let the micro be a go-pack backup

The protac II has been my favorite edc flashlight for several years…even in suit & tie I can carry it vertically in my rear pocket along side my wallet. I’ve given it as a gift to many loved ones. The newer version is now a “must” replacement! I can’t wait to order it!

I use my light on my hat more than I ever expected. It's so handy that way for hands free.

hope Streamlight can do a big upgrade on led technology and heat management. the high output only last for seconds really a big turnoff for purchasing their products.

I'm very brand loyal. Over a decade I've owned two edc flashlights. The longer battery operated Streamlight and 6 or 7 years ago went to the Micro usb. Been in my pocket the whole time. Beautiful patina. I've turned quite a few people on to one. Was having issues and was gonna get the Macro. Ended up ordering the Archer Pro. Think it's closer to the size of the Micro but may be wrong. It hurt to try a new brand. Lol. But we will see what I think. In the meantime whatever issue was causing my Micro to piddle out has magically corrected itself. So it'll be fun to try the Archer and see. And I just can't justify the money on an Olight. But eventually I bet I end up with a Macro in my pocket. It's that flood of light instead of the tactical spotlight I love about them. Anyway Thanks for the great review. Love your channel! Have found them helpful a number of times.

Man, I wish I had seen that light sooner. I just bought another stylus pro. I love those things. A fellow coworker and I use our flashlights on the daily at a minimum of 3 collective hours a day. We put these things through the grind. I’ll have to buy this little guy. Thanks for the video.

Just swapped out my o light i3t eos (180 lumens) for a stylus pro (100 lumens) and it's not even close the streamlight is better in every aspect its brighter its whiter it takes 2 batteries and its lighter. This will be my go to edc for a very long time to come awesome flashlights for sure!

I sent olight an email asking them if my i3t eos is defective because why is my 100 lumen stylus pro is noticeably brighter than their 180 lumen product that should be almost twice as bright? Lmao i just want to hear what lame excuse i get back if i even do idc cuz this stylus is really amazing and for sure my new go to edc i just laugh at all these olight adds

I've gyrated more towards the LAPG light you reviewed awhile back, the swivel head has come in handy more then I thought it would.

hello! Im a film school student and have some advice for talking to the camera, look into the lens and not the viewfinder. I know its tempting to see what your camera is seeing but if you compose your shot before you start shooting and make sure you're okay, don't stare at the viewfinder for the entire time. Looking directly into the lens will make it seem like you're actually talking to the viewer rather than you looking off to the side somewhere. great review!

If I carry a small power cell could I plug it into the USBC port of the dead flashlight and still use the flashlight?

Would it run also on AA and does it takes other 14500? When you pulled the battery the head looks different. Almost like the one of some brands who have the + and - both at the head.

Very cool flashlight, I will be looking into it for sure! I got the Protac, looking to cash in on the versatility and use rechargeable AA or CR123 batteries. Unfortunately, both the directions and Streamlight advise against rechargeables, which is so dumb to me....

I was going to buy this this week but the Glock 21 came back into stock so I had to divert those funds to buy the 21 but next Friday it’s mine I to love the protac

I’ve been wanting the new “MacroStream”, my edc is a “MicroStream-USB” and I absolutely LOVE, love it!!! I do also have a micro stream AAA and I use rechargeable batteries but why not have the USB charge capability built right into the light!?

-Is it High setting then Low or Low Then High when you first press the tail switch? -Does it have momentary on feature?

Have you had issues charging with an Apple charging block? I can’t get my protac to charge with an Apple block, any other charger is no issue.

I have a rechargeable model that I use for work and after having it now for about 6 months plus, I’d prefer one with the replaceable battery. The charge just doesn’t last as long.

I personally can't stand rechargeable Flashlights its much easier handier and faster to replace batteries than have something you're counting on and now its dead and completely useless untill you can find time to fully recharge it... I've got enough crap to charge already. Just my 2 cents. Absolutely love the stylus pro it kicks the crap outta the i3t eos from olight i was carrying.

can this be used for Self Defense? i have a Protac 1L-AA .. which is cool but passing it to my wife... i am thinking of the Protac 2L-X lol.. but the Macrostream is interesting.

Got a Macrostream a couple weeks ago, it's great light. But, I forgot to remove it from my pocket and it went into the laundry. It did not survive although I am hoping the battery is all it needs, which I have ordered.

I wish the 1l-1aa had the option of High-Low and no Epilepsy mode.....i can't think of a use for strobe really.

Streanmight will probably upgrade this to USB Type-C when every electronics in the world will have moved on to wireless charging.

What’s the smallest but brightest keychain flashlight for under $50?

If it would tail stand, I would buy it.

Great video! Looks like a killer EDC light. Love that pocket clip. Two questions: Is that a 14500 battery? (If so, I assume it can also operate on a regular alkaline AA in a pinch.) Secondly, can it operate while recharging? (A surprising number of flashlights and headlamps can't be turned on while recharging! So if this one can, then I will absolutely pick one up.)

It is a 14500 battery. That's not an assumption that I would make, though. AA batteries may not have enough voltage to activate the LED. I'm going to try this with mine.

The Protac 1L-1AA easily beats the Macrostream overall. I think the Macrostream could and should beef up the mere 2000 candela to about 8000. Then we’d have an impressive bright light. As it is, the 1L-1AA at 350 lumens with 6400cd seems brighter that the Macrostream even at its 500 lumens. The usb chargeable feature is cool but it’s also the only option. 1L-1AA all the way. It takes CR123a, AA and even AAA batteries!

It should also work with 14500 and 16340 . Also you can get can get 14500 16340 with usb charging port. I have seen a review where the guy also did say he cant believe that its only 350 lumen. He did compared it with 600 lumen AA/14500 flashlights and mean that the streamlight was brighter.

No it is not stated anywhere that I can take an AA battery.

Nice video - but you fail to mention it uses a (really strange) custom battery and the low-mode shows some very annoying flickering

Streamlight has someone make those batteries. The micro has what looks like a 10440. That looks like a 14500. Would be nice if they'd say so you swap them out in a pinch.

Mine flickers badly. Have to push my usb cable to the side in order to charge it. Plus, the charge doesn't last long at all. I have a lot of Streamlights and love them all, but this one was a total piece of crap.

How am I supposed to know if I want to buy this light if I don't know what size his hands are?

The Zebralight is probably going to beat this on every level. no only can you get it in high CRI, but it runs at nearly 470LM on just a single AA. check it out.

Dig it. The pocket clip on the Mico and Macro is the best. If the Macro had a beveled tip for defensive striking, a strobe function, and a raised top around the tail cap that not only protects the light from accidental turn on's but also magnetized for capabilities of sticking it to metal for hands free work at night(like on your car)it would be the best torch on the market imo. It would dang near fill every role for me(besides holding water for me when I'm thirsty) and I couldn't see myself needing another light outside of everyday use. Hopefully Streamlight reads this and creates that masterpiece🤞

Twice now it has malfunctioned on me and won’t turn on. Happens one more time I’m sending it back

I enjoy my Olights. Maybe one day I'll get a streamlight. I do like these ones.

it has to accept AA supposedly....its contacts is in the front of the battery...

I would buy a drawer full of these if it were dual fuel. If i could carry extra batteries for it i would be all over it. Being dedicated to charge only just sucks for what i want.

If it had a magnetic charger this light would be so great it. Too bad. I'll get the Olight warrior, I think.

Great video. Would love to see a bit higher candela. It's more lumens that my Protac 1L-1aa but less candela than my Olight M1T Raider. So hard to justify when I have those 2 in direct competition. Currently carrying an Olight Warrior Mini but would love to see an upgraded Protac 1L-1aa to 500-600 lumens and 8000 candela. Same size and that would be the perfect package. Streamlights switches are just much better than Olights

Yes the Protac 1L-1aa need an update. It should also run on 16340 and 14500 and 5-600l would be good also. How long is this out with 350l? 7 years or more

Have you tried to use such 14500 battery in the Macrostream to see if it work well and also like he did, if it work well while recharging the 10440 ? that would be useful ! Best regards from France. Really? Because I've had the 1L on my belt every single day for over 6 months. I've never had any issues with the clip coming loose. However I clip it to my hat quite often.
