Found the Bible project by accident and started researching more and more! What a happy accident! Now I’m watching all of them and all of these teachings. I’ve read the Bible many times and I look at it as a collection of short stories by different editors. Sort of like a book of ghost stories from around the world. Different cultures, authors, histories, etc. with one main theme.

This teaching is wonderful. It gives me a totally new perspective on what a church should be. 1) Teach this narrative 2) Anyone who is on board with this narrative simply lives out the commandments of Jesus though the church. So simple

Makes a lot more sense this way. I finally read the bible all the way through along with the videos. I was raised with the way hes speaking of and the preacher jumped all over the place and I couldn't make sense of it . Only in sections. And it seemed like they ignored the Old testament.

In my church we're going through 1 Samuel, and our pastor is explaining what happened. To paraphrase, "Eli was the chief priest of the Holy Temple, and he had two VERY bad sons, who he did not discipline. God calls upon Samuel (who was only a kid) to go and tell Eli "God says because you didn't correct your sons, you are in BIG TROUBLE, and not just you but all of my Chosen People....." While I'm NOT looking for simplified narratives like this INSTEAD of studying the Bible itself, I think a simplified narrative like this would help me to understand what is going on without getting lost in the genealogies and such. I have looked and looked for "plot summaries" of the Old Testament historical books, but cannot find any. Can anyone out there help me?

I've been reading through the Bible Project | Biblical Storyline reading plan through The Bible app. I'm halfway through the year and most of the Old Testament but realize that it skips the book of Ruth. When I check the chronological order of the videos published by Bible Project on KZread, I do see the book of Ruth between Judges and Samuel. However, I think it may have been missed in The Bible Reading plan? Has anyone else found this?

Hi Tim. I'm a fan, but I'm curious. In your reading of the creation of man you replace the word man with humanity. Is this you interpretation? And on what basis?

What happens to people who were on the other side of the world? When the Bible was made and never had a chance to repent. Like the people in Asia or native Americans what happens to them when they died just by default they go to hell? This is a serious question

@@taghjenx4 that doesn't make sense.I use to believe that.Critical thinking requires one to weigh,process,and dissect facts within the confines of reality or real life.So, how is it is gracious and just for some to slide through without the confusion of numerous dogmas,doctrines and interpretations and penalize those who so called have been revealed this information which is not even based on anything that is demonstrably proved or uniform in message. You think you know "god".How do you know or anyone for that matter? You assume God isn't in control. He is in control of everything. God is just and gracious, he judges accordingly. Was the person a murderer or lived a bad life? But if one lived a good life then God will take everything into account.

I would be concerned about this statement Jesus became who we are so we can become who he is. He said it sometime after 30 min. We can naver become God and Jesus is God

Yeah I caught that too. I think he meant so we can become the human that he was - sinless, obedient to the Father. But DID Jesus ‘become’ sin? That seems impossible

@@theotherme4120 yea this may be flawed or perhaps can be up for debate. But I stand with you. He did not become sin. He canceled out sin. For the punishment of sin = death Sin “sinned” by murdering Yeshua who knew no sin. Result of that is, Sins own death

This is my one HUGE problem. So many people who understand the bible take advantage of it.

As I understand the word "Cosmogony", it refers solely and specifically to the very beginning of the universe. In contrast to solely talking about the moment of the conception of the universe, when Tim uses the word "Cosmology", I believe he is talking about the beginnings AND the ongoing understanding of the shape of the universe through the eyes of the ancient near-East people groups, specifically the writers of the ancient Hebrew scriptures.

Hi Tim! I have a question, the Bible is an epic narrative and the Iliad is one as well. The Iliad depicts some true historical incidents( the Trojan war that was real and actually took place) but its tangled up with mythological creatures and Greek Gods etc, how do I know that the Bible represent the truth( Jesus is a real figure it has been proven scientifically) at some points but it could be mixed up with some facts that are not true. For example my friend told me this :That Jesus could actually existed but what if he was just a great man with revolutionary teachings for his period and age but when ppl where writing down stories about him, they added stuff? What if the miracles didn’t happen for example? What if they added things just like the Greeks did in the Iliad? thanks heaps!

That's a great question! A good resource for you might be reading the book "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel. The book discusses the historicity of Jesus and whether or not we can rely on what was said in the bible and other works by evidence.

There’s a helpful chart I found online that shows the number of original manuscripts that have been discovered. The Iliad has 643 original manuscripts found, as it was written in 700 BC. The New Testament on the other hand has 5,735. In Acts it tells the rapid expansion of the church, starting with a few hundred and expanding to tens of thousands as the stories of Jesus’ resurrection spread. If Jesus hadn’t risen from the dead, I doubt that thousands would’ve joined the movement as at that point he would’ve been proven to be just another controversial figure put down by the romans. Remember that a majority of the Jews yelled crucify him and chose to free a murderer over freeing Jesus. At that point they thought he was a blasphemous fraud. The fact that they were later willing to die for this cause in mass numbers to me validated the hundreds who claimed to have seen Jesus alive after the crucifixion, hence the thousands of original manuscripts that claim to have witnessed the events.

I have a question Tim, and a thought to share. I noticed from watching your videos and in this one, that sometimes you say things like " how does Jesus know this?" You answered... "from Him reading the Bible. " Wouldn't Jesus know these things because He is the author through men in the form of The Holy Spirit? I am not being critical of you my brother, just wondering what you mean, and if my understanding is in error.

I wonder if Jesus receives the holy Spirit of truth and knowledge at his baptism, though he has a background probably knowing the scriptures before then, he now has 'cosmic knowledge,' or 'divine knowledge,' after his pledge to the Father. I wondered if Jesus knew who he was always since birth

@@Saintmack I totally agree, I just didn't grow up thinking of Jesus being fully human. I always knew he was human, but the divine being took much more precedent.

There was a creation, and there will be a new heavens and a new earth. Not sure what the "new creation" is supposed to be.

The story of the Bible is one of restoration...paradise (presence of God) lost in the garden and restored in the NEW Jerusalem at the culmination of time. At that time God with create a new world (as you say, a new heaven and new earth) where it will be possible (no more sin) for Him to again dwell with His people. This is what Tim means by a new creation.

So um.. anyone got the answer to the question?

Go to my brotha Big Judah.com and look 👀 at his videos titled “The Medieval Israelites “. That is a great start for you to get wisdom and knowledge about who we are. Gods people. We are the “holy seed”.

I wonder what Tim's response would be if someone were to ask him about the flood. He was arguing that God did not want to kill His creation, but he doesn't mention God flooding the world and trying to restart humanity. I'm not saying I disagree with Tim's perspective, just curious how the story of Noah fits in with this narrative he's describing.

lininomartino now reflect On dating, Time and Historic evidence. It isn't that narrative set by fairy tales but the Bible's collective as a whole inspired others to write as such. It is the longing living lasting epic of our time and a momento of living Word Yahshua Hamashiac, Yahweh in the flesh and blood. The Bible is even in the stage of the strong delusion, and its scripture is under attack and change. If it was "another fairy tale" why would evil try so hard to alter the Word into having Satan come off as the messianic figure now? Curious. Do you have eyes? You should look with them. Do you have ears? You should listen. Praise and peace brother.

Le Voyeur: Did you not read the part where I said "I believe the Bible" ? I wasn't saying the Bible is a fairy tale, silly, and I think you sort of have to stretch pretty far to interpret it that way. Is English not your first language? I'd be happy to try to put it in your language (via google translate or some such) if you think that would help you understand better.

I teach writing to fourth graders. The first type of writing they learn is narrative writing, which in their case is not fairytale writing, but stories about their lives... true, honest stories about their adventures, what's important to them, etc. So the narrative stories in the Bible are the stories of Abraham, Joseph, etc. Stories of their lives. :)
