One of my favorite teachers. May God continue to use him.

Ok, I must be a Bible Nerd as I find this fascinating. I will soon be 66 and regret not having heard most of this earlier but thankful to have found this video. My introduction to Tim was with the “Read Scripture” app that I’ve used for several years daily. It led me to the Bible Project. Now I am thankful to find his talks here that provide remarkable depth. The irony lies in that with all of the knowledge & enthusiasm I could only imagine when he gets home his wife asks him to take out the garbage and one child needs to go to a dance recital while another has ball practice, just like the rest of us did. Isn’t that the way of life? Finally and of greatest importance to me, God has graced me with this talk and I am at peace.

There are a few that seem chosen to be that "age's" John the Baptist, making a path, and he is one. I think Billy Graham was, too, though i know raised controversy. They all do. I have heard of a few others before my time, each carrying the Torch important for their time. It is an impelling call that cannot be quenched, however, it difficult, heartbreaking at times, and quite a challenge for their families, especially now. I imagine Tim has had his life threatened by "well-meaning Christians." I can think of several pastors who could do that, which speaks for itself. We pray for him, his family, and team every day, for safety and to stay true. I, too, can rest in peace after being told of his ministry by a pastor who has stayed true to his calling, too. Sometimes being a Jesus follower is very lonely.

KZread led me from 45 minutes version, this one, then 2 hour version. I am watching/listening for the 8th time, including the Podcast, Exploring My Strange Bible. And taking notes this time, to take in all the knowledge Tim had to offer. I wish I knew about these earlier.

Faithfully i say unto you that Jesus (Yeshua) is The Lord and One true God mentioned in the Shema (Shema Yisrael). And beside Him there is no God. (Deuteronomy 6:4) (Isaiah 45:22) (John 20:28) Its understandable to see many in confusion about Him. Please have patience with me with the following. God made Himself a body. This body is not His celestial body (e.g. Melchizedek) but a body that is suitable to fulfill the role of being the Messiah. God manifested in the flesh, using a terrestrial body, like we humans on earth have. And when everyone is saved under Christ (not to be confused with sealed) this terrestrial body (attribute) has served its purpose and will be subdued unto God. Please notice: Understanding that The One true God uses attributes, like a body - soul - spirit. As we humans have, after His image. (Genesis 1:27) (1 Thessalonians 5:23) A person consists of a body, an invisible soul and a spirit. God has an invisible soul, spirit (Holy spirit) and a body. The soul of God is indentified as The Father. The body consists (on earth) out of the terrestrial body God uses to fulfill His role as the Messiah, the sacrificial lamb to save the world from sin. (Not to confuse with His celestial body) And the spirit, speaks for itself. I’m so sorry if this sounds irreverent but here I am snacking and drinking beers on Wednesday of Holy Week enthralled in this teaching by my favorite teacher feeling so entertained and fulfilled😅 God has communicated himself so beautifully to us flawed humans and I’m just so grateful that his story is so much more captivating than anything I could possibly find on KZread or Netflix. Ok I must go. I’ve got to finish so I can change my hvac filter prep for a full day of loving my coworkers, family and get ready to wash some feet at our last supper service tomorrow. This existence my friend is wild…truly one foot in heaven and one in the world 🥹

The more stuff I've seen of this guy, the more I've come to conclude that if we had more Christians like him in the world, we'd have a much better name for ourselves. I've come across the odd person here and there in comment sections who disagrees with some of his views (though I haven't yet seen why this is). But regardless, his general attitude and demeanor towards himself, people and God is so remarkably humble and easy going, something many could learn from. A terrific teacher. Before I became a Christian I lived near Portland for a short time, wish I'd have had the opportunity to drop in on a sermon or two

I love the Bible project and I use it to teach and learn from..the problems some may have with pastor Tim, myself included, is that he doesnt stand with authority reference the first 2 minutes of this sermon...where he says he is convicted that the Bible is divine..but he doesnt stand and proclaim it..it leaves the door open for the efficacy of other POV on this issue. Many modern Christian thinkers shy away from the tough issues..especially in the more “progressive” strong holds, like Portland and Seattle and LA..Mike Winger, if you know him, is like this also..very thoughtful, very knowledgeable, but when it comes to homosexuality or other hot button, biblical issues, they equivocate..just like in the beginning of this video, and fail to stand in the authority of the Bible and its principles, thus diminishing their impact. Or so says me..I still like pastor Tim, and we all have our foibles and doctrinal issues! I wish him and his ministry all the best and hope he can continue to be a vital tool for Christs kingdom

Wow..another issue, stopping the service to proclaim how heroic the non Christians are for showing up...encourage them, support them, but if anybody is the hero, its the believers who stand firm in their faith even though the world is against them. Dont feed the unbelievers a bunch of bunk with how heroic they are to be open to the truth, convict their hearts of the need for Jesus, so that their eternity wont be suffering. The Bible is divine, Christ is real, and he died on the cross and God resurrected him for the forgiveness of sins..that isnt something to be convicted of personally..that is the gospel truth..literally!

His observation; "We'll get everybody in the world to believe in this guy we made up...NOT". That, along with other logic and reason is so right on. Pastor Tim is a fantastic teacher on the depth on Scripture.

In Genesis the genealogy from Adam and his son Seth when you find out the meanings of their names it tells the story. It tells the whole story right in the genealogy. Dr Chuck Missler discovered this fascinating fact. Something I think that Tim Mackie would enjoy listening to. We are all members of the same body of Christ. I thank God for all of you. Robbins' Nest No Jesus didn’t use Exodus 3 in John 8 Jesus said before Abraham was born “ego eimi” which means I am he Multiple people say ego eimi in the New Testament, but you’re not saying they are God? John 9 9 Some said, “It is he”; others said, “No, but he is like him.” He said, “I am the man.” I am the man= ego eimi The blind man just said ego eimi, did he just refer to Exodus and claim to be God?? Of course not I believe in the Greek translation of Exodus it says “Ego eimi HO ON” Tell them “HO ON” has sent you (I Am has sent you) Had Jesus said HO ON you may have a point, but he didn’t

Best moment in the entire video. Is my life reflecting that I am connected to the source of Love that died for his enemies and is alive forever and available to flawed human beings? All this Bible knowledge can feed the demonic part of us that longs to “win” and overpower people with our amazing arguments- for or against The Bible. We need to remember that, after the insurrection of 1/6, Bible people are more and more seen as hateful racists who will obey a demagogue and proclaim that he and his cronies are the only source of Truth. Tim, I love your beautiful mind, heart, work & teaching. I’ve been a Christian for over 25 years and have read and studied it for years and am a Jesus freak. I haven’t watched the history channel about the making of the Bible. I pray, meditate and am observant...You said amazing and clearly cerebral things which speak to my heart. So I have some questions/comments: you said in this talk that we are called to love others MORE than ourselves, and even though it may seem minor in the context of what you are teaching, we are called to love others AS ourselves. A minor but important distinction. Also, I’m becoming more inclined to focus more on the gospels in light of how “cerebral and non- cerebral” individuals manipulate teachings to be right! I’ve experienced too many highly intelligent humans, (with good intentions initially) become like Pharisees (who knew texts well but missed the Savior) and use parts of scriptures (mostly the letters) to prove how right their position/thinking/teaching/doctrine is. What of our reliance on His Holy Spirit to guide us? What of our listening to His voice? What of our seeking Him with all our HEART? I also have encountered “scholars” who have answers to everything and are full of intellectual pride. I’m not a scholar but am inclined to approach things logically/intellectually, which has been my lens for years. I am currently on the road to more meditation which has deepened some understandings/knowing/faith...I have so many other questions...

To me this is very significant because the Bible really is a "Divinely Inspired Written Book by humans who believed in God," or the word of God through which the LORD speaks to us today. I really treat the Bible with reverence because it is a different book to be considered the Holy Scriptures according to God's prophets and his son Jesus Christ. "All scripture is inspired by God..... @ 2nd Timothy 3 : 16-17. (Apostle Paul's letter to his disciple Timothy). Translations are many, but God's word is here for all to learn about the will of God, his promises and amazing grace, through Christ Jesus as savior and redeemer for mankind. Amen! REM

@@mitchellc4 uhh NO! The Gospel of the Kingdom was offered to the ancient Jews and they rejected it.. We are under the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Gospel of GRACE. Repent is to change your mind from unbelief to belief in Christ.. There is no "repent of sins" in the Scriptures. Nowhere. If that is what it meant, then God would have sinned as He repented 3 times in the Old Testament. Jesus IS God who came in flesh to the earth and walked among men, and that is the TRUTH.... 2 Timothy 3:16 is clear: And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Now, pay attention: 1 John 4:3 --- "And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world". Jesus Christ is God come in flesh - Fully God and Fully Man.

He certainly is right when he says The History Channel is not the place to learn about the Bible. From my experience I find that they are very deceptive, and rather than give you answers they leave you with questions.

The words and story of Enoch are presented in both old and New testament scripture. Two of the apostles referenced them with all seriousness of inclusion and validity. Jesus's brother Jude gave staunch warnings from Enoch's well known relationship with God and the writings thereby, about the need to recognize imposters and those who have always been God deniers. And in light of the obvious mentions of Enoch's importance, it has always baffled me that the first and oldest writings of Enoch were not included in the accepted text. I appreciate and consider them scriptural and valuable in the whole picture of prophecy regarding Jesus as the Lord and Messiah. I was glad to see your consideration of them also.

As for the rest of what you said, The very reason why Jesus was crucified was that he claimed to be God. You may have missed that, but the Pharisees and the Saducees didn't. John 10:33 KJV - 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Also, your understanding of Jesus contracts with what The Bible says about him. 1 John 2:22-23 KJV - 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. John 10:30 KJV - 30 I and my Father are one. If you deny that Jesus is God, then you deny the Father also and you believe in a false religion. Isaiah 9:6 KJV - 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. The Father was never born, so this is clearly referring to the man Jesus who was born. The Father is God, and Jesus is the Father in the form of a man. Just as the Father took on the form of various angels in the Old Testament, the Father took the form of an actual man in the New Testament. It's not that the Father disappeared, but he remained as God as well as Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins. God is an infinitely capable being, so doing this is easy for him.

Tim, You have done a good job. I love your presentation, I can see and hear your enthusiasm. There's a big scripture that you're missing that explains how Moses wrote Genesis. The Apostle Peter lets all readers know how Moses received the biblical information he wrote down. Moses nor any other writer remembered the biblical revelation from their own thoughts nor did they decide on their own how to formulate the scriptures. 2 Peter 1:20 First of all, understand this: no prophecy of Scripture is to be interpreted by an individual on his own; 21 for never has a prophecy come as a result of human willing - on the contrary, people moved by the (Holy Spirit) Ruach HaKodesh spoke a message from God. Never, ever has a prophecy come as a result of human willing & since Genesis contains prophesy ie Gen 3:15 and 49:10 this speaks to Moses being moved (inspired by the Holy Spirit) to write such things. No human was around days 1-5 so there's no human witness that can recall from memory to tell that story without receiving the info from God. This is the case for every book of the bible that Jesus, prophets, and writers acknowledge and quote. Also, consider this when you're speaking of how the Torah ends, God can speak of past, present, and future events. He can also tell the writers what will happen before it happens and tell them to write about themselves, other people, and events before it happens. So Moses writing about his death and what will happen is no different than Paul writing about his death before it happens or the Messiah being prophesied throughout the Hebrew scriptures. Tim did say that Moses was LEAD/Inspired by God… he said he wasn’t in a Trance (meaning, God did not “take over” his hand and pen to actually write the words) when I think of this, I think of me now, how I can be lead by the Holy Spirit to speak to someone or pray with them… I’m still using my mouth and voice… I’m just being lead by the spirit (even for WHAT to say) in a way that I wouldn’t just naturally do it on my own.

I agree on the overall development of the Bible. I disagree on the lack of any power play especially with the advent of ecumenical councils. Yes, these councils came to discuss theological concerns, but they also had aspects of turf war tension. I do not think it lessens the Bible to discuss that reality. As Mackie noted the Bible had an informally accepted canon. What these ecumenical councils did in terms of what theological views were voted as true and what was determined as heresy impacted how we have come to interprete the Bible. To downplay that is like saying the Catholic Church had only an issue with Luther's theology. Luther posed both a theological and political problem. Look up the zealous nature in which Augustine went after Pelagius. Augustine tried three time within the church community to get Pelagius declared a heretic. The church said, "No." Augustine finally succeeded in getting someone in secular government to declare Pelagius a heretic. The religious community followed to save their behinds. We need to be honest not just about the development of the Bible, but also of how interpretation has a messy history and often has had aspects of power play.

Imagine everyone having his education. After a couple generations, there would be no atheists.

Tim why do you often use the title or phrase Jewish out of historical context? The Israelites were not Jewish in fact the tribe of Judah are referred to in english as Jews sometimes but they were not Jewish. Can you make it clear so that people do not confuse the Jewish people with the Israelites?

Many of the apocryphal books are part of the LXX. The LXX was widely used in the early Church as their bible. I would love to hear Tim talk about that.

Your presentations are genuine and I truly feel you believe and feel something isn’t right about the Bible historical evidence. I am a Hebrew Israelite from the Tribe of Ephriam which is the Northern tribe that was so call banished of the map. We were sent away in captivity and Moses led us to the Promise lands; The America’s. You should get a Bible from the 1800s that contains the precepts that put all the scriptures in context. Your story will change drastically . Our plight is real Yeshua (Jesus)is a real man. You can begin with reading the Apocrapha. The book that was heavily debated. Then read my ancestors book Enoch. The KJV only contains my brothas plight during their captivity Judah, Benjamin and Levi; the southern Kingdom. You can pray that our earthly mother who is Wisdom and the Holy Spirit lead and guide you into all truth, without her you can’t understand the prophecy but you did a good job trying. I’ll pray for you too.

A superb summary of Bible. However, I think that critics of the Da vinci code do not quite understand what Dan Brown was trying to tell us. Its better to remain unbiased and not compare the Bible and or orthodox interpretive methods with the Da vinci code. It is, after all, a work of creative fiction with its own uniqe message with a certain degree of extrabiblical truths {nag hammmadi library} embedded within a creative storyline. IM not a Bible critic or a critic of spiritual fiction...and because of this..I apreciate both.

I suspect people thumbed down his video because Tim is misquoting the Bible. To see what I mean, Goto Time stamp 10:49 and behold the words that Tim Mackie said. Compare that with The correct quotation of Exodus 17:8-9 as follows: "(8) Then came Amelak, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. (9) And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand." Tim also misquoted verse 14 as well. The correct verse is as follows: (14) And the Lord said unto Moses, Write for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: For I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

+Rexlaninetales Bobby Carbon -- Tim is not "mis-quoting" the Bible, he is using one of the "versions".. They're full of errors, and no one with sense would want to use them..(in my opinion - who wants a Bible that's been changed?) Also, who REALLY cares about the "thumbs down" things? It's people's opinions. I don't get why some get so hung up on those things. They mean nothing...... As the kids say, just saying..........

Mary Mclocke - Any Bible that was written after the 1611 King James Version is a false Bible. Those Modern corrupt versions delete and change verses to insert false doctrine (Zionism, Pretribulation Rapture & Dispensationism) and damnable heresies such as a Work's based salvation and denying the deity of Christ. Modern corrupt Bibles such as NIV, ESV, New Living Translation also attempt to obscure faith only salvation. Meaning, our eternal salvation is based upon grace through faith in Christ. It is not of works lest any man should boast. Eternal salvation is a gift to those whom put their faith in Christ. If we could possibly lose our salvation, then salvation could not be called eternal nor a gift. That is why when we go soul winning, we always ask, "If you died today, are you 100% sure that you're going to heaven?" And we follow that question up with another, "Is it possible to lose your salvation?" If they answered Yes to the first question and No to the second question, then we know without a shadow of a doubt that person is saved and will go to heaven no matter what. These things are very obvious to those whom read the King James Bible cover to cover. But not so for any of these modern false Bibles. That's why a lot of false prophets whom preach a repent of sin based salvation (or some other work's based salvation) they prefer to stay away from the King James Bible.
