You made another mistake at 11:34. The race at the Nurburgring was the European Grand Prix not the German Grand Prix. Nurburgring didn't have the rights to the German Grand Prix name yet despite the share-holding agreement starting in that year. Also you claim Lewis finished 7th at that race, he didn't, he finished 9th, he didn't score in that race.

To this day, Hamilton's 109 points is still the most points achieved by a driver in their debut season. This being despite the change in points system in 2010.

@@sam.s4816 In terms of drivers in their first full seasons, I think the closest was Romain Grosjean in 2012. He got 96. And Esteban Ocon scored 87 in 2017. Though I don't know if they count as rookies in those years as they'd both done half seasons before (Grosjean in 2009 and Ocon in 2016).

Not really. Almost right after that came 4 consecutive years of RB dominance, and then 7 for Mercedes. You could put Ayrton himself in other car than the Merc, he wasn't gonna win. Not to mention McLaren did everything to make Lewis champion in 07. That being said, he did great, naturally I just think one has to be objective when putting someone on a pedestal.

He lost by it by a tyre failure in Germany Qualy which put at the back of the grid ,then again a tyre failure in Turkey which denied him podium ,then gravel trap in China and finally in final race ,a gearbox box issue during race which pushed him at the back .

Schumacher went from a team he won 2 titles in a row with, to a team that hadn't won in the sport for over 2 decades. He helped to build the foundations of that team over the next 3 years and then went on to dominate with that team for the next 5 years. He helped and was a crucial part in building their success. He also came out of retirement and helped developed Mercedes into what they are now before Hamilton took the seat He was in. Brawn himself said Schumacher had an immense and crucial part to play in developing the car and team into what it was to dominate the sport with Hamilton at the wheel. Schumacher has and always will be the greatest F1 driver the sport has seen, alot don't like him, but anyone with common knowledge of F1 won't dispute that. Hamilton is a great, that can't be disputed. But he is not the greatest of all time. Love or hate him, Schumacher was the greatest. Oh to answer about others with poor equipment, Schumacher also has the most wins in a non championship winning car even though he has less wins than Hamilton, further proof Hamilton is only great with the greatest car against the other greats records.

Kaiser Bob There has been plenty of opportunities for the record to be broken. In 2017 Sergio Perez scored 100 points despite throwing away some good points finishes, and rookie Ocon scored 87. In 2012, Kimi scored 207 points for Lotus and rookie Grosjean scored 96. The record should have been broken then. Albon wasn’t far off that total last season despite only driving the Red Bull for half a season. Button scored 126 points in the 2014 McLaren and that car was never a front runner, but Magnussen is shit and couldn’t even score half that.

Funny thing is that Hamilton's 2007 season is almost identical to Villeneuve's 1996 season. Both got 4 wins, both got 5 second places and both finished P2 in the standings in their rookie year. Hamilton got one more 3rd place and almost won the championship, but Jacques 96 campaign shouldn't be underestimated. Oh, and both won the title on the second try. Maybe in an alternative universe JV is a 6-time champion... scary.

I would say Lewis' was better because Jacques only took the championship to the wire due to Damon fucking it up at Monza. But yeah it was still a brilliant rookie year, just not as good as Lewis'.

I watched this 2007 season and in my eyes Hamilton could have won the championship if McClaren had brought him in earlier for tyres in China. Hamilton was begging to be put on new tyres laps before he came to pit and ended up being in the gravel. If Lewis had won the 2007 championship I wonder if he would still have become a Mercedes driver.

There is no such thing as "deserving" of a championship. If you win the title within the rules of the FIA, you win the title. End of story. F1 is a dynamic sport where anything can happen. Luck is a big factor in winning along with talent and the car. What happened to Massa was unfortunate but things happen.

So, this shows how spectacular HAM is finishing the Championship in first. Massa and Hamilton blew the field away in poles Ham 7 Mas 6. Massa finished 13th spinning multiple times in the rain in Great Britain and finished 17th in Hungary. Those two cost him most

Amazing video. I started following F1 because of Lewis. His driving, speed, consistency just amazed me. I had no idea who he was and one day I just randomly started seeing his pole laps and best moments on facebook, his race wins and overtakes and I was amazed. I had no idea I could fall in love with a sport so much and especially with someone's driving. But it is not just his driving that made me like him so much. It is his humbleness, his respect towards others, his strength and elite mentality when facing hard times but most of all his grace in losing. I think Abu Dhabi 2021 shows this best. He lost a championship under controversial circumstances on a last lap after dominating the whole race. He sat 2min in his car and collected himself, got out and congratulated to both Red Bull and Max. Stood on that podium with head held up high and even gave an interview. The mental strength that took him to act like this is something I have never ever seen. It just shows what kind of person and a champion he really is and what an amazing job his father did raising him. Watching his old races and seeing him now and how far he has grown despite immense pressure and hate throughout the years is really amazing. He is not just a racing driver, he is an amazing person and a role model before everything else.

Love that the hate Hamilton suffered just made him more determined to succeed. Greatest Driver ever

I think the 'hate', which isn't actually hate, but more like frustration, partially comes from people going on the internet and proclaiming that Lewis is the greatest driver ever. That could be true, theoretically, but how do you make that distinction? How do you come to a conclusion of whether Lewis is really better than, let's say Fangio or Jackie Steward? How do you compare drivers who raced generations apart? What's wrong with saying he is one of the greatest and acknowledge that there are other gods beside Lewis? And to preempt the entirely foreseeable 'just look at the stats' trope. People like Fangio had 8 to 10 races a season, not 21, so they could never even have reached 200 race starts. Statistics are entirely pointless trying to compare drivers from the fifties with drivers of today.

Totally agree, and it's one of the things Niki Lauda loved about him, where Hamilton just had that hunger and realization he had to work hard to push his talent in order to win. I don't think he would have pushed himself as hard in the sport since then if he made history and became world champion in his rookie season. Riccardo / Leclerc fan here by the way!

I'd take Seb over Hamilton every time. Double so if my team is mid to upper pack and can possibly make a run. Hamilton is a game manager to use a football term it all better be perfect. That race in Turkey was the first time I saw him. I called out to my husband and said I was watching a future F1 champ. Not joking, genuinely said that. He's been an astounding driver ever since. I had no idea about his background before that race, rather until after it had finished. All I saw was raw talent and was blooming impressed. Cool video! Well made & presented.

People can hate on hamilton for only winning the title when he has had the best car. That is the worst excuse out there, majority of drivers who win the world title have the best car. Senna, Schumacher, Prost, Vettel, Rosberg and yes hamilton to name a few, but you also need consistency and the mentality to win, hamilton has that champions mentality and he always has and he will until the day that he retires, and when that day comes, a lot of people are going to realise just how special of a driver he was.

If you read what I wrote I never actually said he didn’t have the best car. I just pointed out that many other great drivers have also had the best car when they won the championship. But with regards to McLaren slowing down and going to Mercedes. Didn’t vettel do the exact same thing? Red bull were poor in 2014 so he went to Ferrari. How about senna? The McLaren wasn’t able to compete with the Williams so he went to Williams. Hamilton only gets so much hate because that’s the way the world has turned with social media. All the cynics have an outlet to try and make themselves feel better. And don’t get me wrong, I am not saying you are one of those cynics. You presented your opinion respectfully and I hope you see my reply as respectful as well as I am just trying to get my point across

Mark Vorster - Senna is and will always be F1 God, but unfortunately he didn’t live to build up his stats.. he was 33 when he sadly died so he probably only would’ve had a few more seasons left.. but then again stats don’t necessarily equal greatness.. ITS HARD. But I think I’d give it to Hamilton, people forget how good Hamilton was pre-F1 and then he had the best rookie season in F1 ever

It still pains me watching him slide into the gravel and that gearbox malfunction. It was the greatest rookie season ever that should have been rewarded with a maiden season title, so unlucky. If either of those events hadn't of occurred he would have already matched Schumachers 7 titles. And if he wins in Sepang rather than having his Engine blow he would have 8 titles already. He is the best we've ever seen. As quick as Senna and as calculated as Schumacher.

Kimi had 2 mechanical DNFs in 2007... More issues than Hamilton ever had and still won. Massa had 1 DNF from the lead and a pit-crew fuckup from the lead in 2008. Those are 20 points... He only lost by 1. Vettel had mechanical DNF from 2nd in Japan and incident in Singapore from the lead in 2017. Hamilton won by 46 points and had 0 DNFs... Now do the math. Had the most dominating cars in F1 history in 4 seasons... 2014-2015-2016 and 2020. While in the 2nd Mercedes you had at best a good driver(Nico) and an average one(Bottas). You conveniently talk about Hamilton's issues but forget other drivers that were fighting for the title also had issues. The only title Hamilton could've gotten if he had no issues was 2016. That's it... However, by that same reasoning, take away his 2008 and 2017 championships.

@@grimm6jack I wasn't very familiar with 2007 and 2008 so I almost started taking you seriously but then you said Vettel in 2017 Singapore. Which was an incident which was a racing incident in the end but Seb was the biggest one to blame. And plenty of other missed opportunities by Seb in probably the better car that year as well as 2018.

This was an incident that was a chain reaction. 2017 and also 2018 Ferrari didn't have the better car. 2018 was fairly close yes, but not in 2017. Where is your reasoning, or the reasoning of the few people (aside from obvious Hamilton fans ofc) for the 2017 Ferrari to be considered better? All stats point towards it not being better at all. Or actually, even close. Vettel made that car look amazing. That was the difference. He choked in 2018 yes, but he wouldn't have won it either even if he hadn't done his mistakes.

@@grimm6jack Why do I consider Ferrari to be better? Because Vettel could challenge Lewis to a title even though Vettel doesn't get the maximum out of his car unlike Lewis. Now imagine if Leclerc was in that Ferrari when Ferrari were at their best, Leclerc would have won the WDC no doubt. Or it could've just been someone like Alonso, who would've also won. And if you want to take away championships from Hamilton, why don't you add 2016, he only lost that one due to a DNF in Suzuka where he was winning, but gifted the win to Rosberg due to mechanical issues where his engine blew out.

How else do you think he was competitive when he was in Toro Rosso despite that car having a 1 year older Ferrari engine? Anyway, you're an Hamilton fanboy from the looks of it. Even against Leclerc, in 2019 when Ferrari fixed their aero post Singapure, Vettel scored more points than Leclerc. I just want to add a small personal note about RACE and F1 with regard to Lewis Hamilton. like at 5:04 when you said the obvious fact that since 1950 we've only had 1 person of color race in F1! Well guys ive been watching F1 since 1997/98. I went to my first f1 race in 2002 at age 12 as a prep school graduation present to Silverstone. We were pitlane VIP guests. I'll never forget meeting, Jenson Button, Trulli, and Alonso (when he was test driver for Reno). The world of F1 amazed me... i was mesmerized walking through the pits, the garage, motorhomes etc.... but as is so often the case being in Europe for me and my family- something just felt odd, out of place... like i could never ever dream of aspiring to such a career like it was a world we didn't belong in. I subsequently stopped watching f1 for a few years after that and decided it wasn't a world we would ever be accepted in. Years later in 2007 i was in university studying in Montreal, Quebec. I was there @ circuit Gille-Villeneuve... This time i was a broke college student so i wasn't a pitlane VIP but payed for a $60 GE ticket on the grass. I was just out to have a good time i didn't realise how important that day would become. I don't want to write a whole novella here so to cut a long story short when the race was over and everyone around the track was talking about the huge milestone that had just been broken "the tiger woods of motor racing had just been born" I thought back to years ago when i was introduced to the world of f1- and i CRIED. This is something that most ethnically European or white F1 fans will take for granted and will even get annoyed when Lewis's race and his F1 career are mentioned like it shouldn't be a big deal.... but it is. I understand we all live life from different perspectives. What many of you will never understand is what it means for so many black and F1 fans of color to see some one who looks like them up on that podium (for the first time... now its boring lol 😂)..... I cried that day in Montreal 2007, because as black people we know how hard it is most of the time to climb the ladder of any industry, sport, profession with all the antagonism you suffer from under handed comments and racism. I cried because it gave me hope. even when things are dark other people have been able to overcome. thats why lewis has the "still i rise" tatoo on his back. thats the meaning of it. STILL I RISE. And now when i look back at that 12 year old kid that thought this was a impossible world he could never be part of just because he didn't see anyone who looked like him in the sport that sometimes we have to rise above- to be our own trailblazers. and how silly i was to think it was impossible. because nothing is impossible. ❤️ Thanks for this video Aldas mate. I've been an F1 fan since the mid-60s and for so many years never considered that a black man would ascend to the rarified world of Grand Prix racing. I rooted for Wendell Scott, who was the first and, for decades, the only black NASCAR driver (and the only person of color to actually win a race in NASCAR's premiere category, back in 1963) and Willy T. Ribbs who became a regular winner in the SCCA Trans-Am road racing series, competed in IMSA for Dan Gurney's AAR factory Toyota GT and prototype campaigns and qualified for the 1991 Indy 500, as well as running in the CART IndyCar races. RIbbs won the British Racing & Sports Car CLub (BRSCC) Star of Tomorrow championship when he was 18 in 1977 and later parlayed his experience into an invitation from Bernie Ecclestone for a test drive of a Brabham BT55-Turbo BMW at Estoril, Portugal in 1985, making him the first black man (and the only one until Lewis Hamilton) ever to drive an F1 car. In 2006 I started watching broadcasts of the GP2 series and was wondering why the cameras so often were showing a black man in the pits; soon I learned his name was Anthony Hamilton and that he managed his son, one of the drivers (!). I latched onto him and was delighted to realize that the young Hamilton was not just a participant, but was a major contender, eventually going on to win the title. Talk about an impossible dream! I have been a fan of Lewis ever since, through thick and thin. So more power to you, P.M.!

I had followed Lewis from when he was young and was so sure he'd win the title in his rookie season i actually put money on it and im not a gambler whatsoever. He did not lock up in china due to lack of driving skill, the team called him in too late and his tyres were shot, you can see that clearly on the footage. I was furious watching that. He is whether you like him or not the greatest we have seen and i have followed F1 since the James Hunt era.

Ah yes McLaren pit strategies (TM). So incredible they lost 2nd in the Constructors' Championship to an inferior Ferrari in 2012. Honestly McLaren gets away with so much now that they aren't a top team anymore, but boy they are as bad as Ferrari, if not worse.

There's no such thing as the different eras had different demands of the drivers. Lewis would have been crap in the 1950s. He needs to be in a good head space, but that would have been incredibly challenging when his friends and rivals were dying every year, let alone whether he'd have had the stones to out-brake people as reliably, knowing he might kill someone, die himself or lose a leg or two. I don't know whether the intelligence of modern drivers would translate well to when motor racing saw regular deaths and unplanned amputations.

Isn't Farina in 1950 technically the best rookie season ever, since it was his first season and he became world champion, if you think about it

@@robertgym611 In 1993, Damon Hill started as a rookie with the dominant Williams team that year but was in third place at the end of the season behind teammate Prost and Mclaren's Ayrton Senna. Hill wasn't really ever a "top driver" IMO but I just mentioned him because of the sweet ride he had as a rookie.

Hamilton has won 6 World Championships but still is massively underrated and does not get the respect from some which he deserves. Maybe if people start to judge him on the basis of what he does on the track rather than off it he'll get the respect he deserves

I wasn't a fan of F1 until that season! He was making headlines and I decided to start watching to see what it was all about. I obviously knew a lot of drivers especially from the 90s era. But I never watched it. But it was Hamilton that made me fall in love with the sport! I am so proud of that dude

When you see how Lewis started you realise there is nobody better placed to be where he is today, the man is a legend, he is heads above his piers.

Hamilton is a competitive beast!!! I love his attitude on track and he obviously backs it up with his unbelievable talent ....

Awesome video! One thing you didnt capture was China. You said his tyres were badly worn but what you didnt say was that he was wanting to come in to the pits for ages and it was the team that forced him to stay out!

Sad small-minded people will always try to put down Lewis’s achievements. Just a wait a few years until he’s retired and they’ll switch their tone.

I consider Lewis Hamilton as getting the taste for racing when he was 7 in 1992 doing Radio-controlled car races as seen in BBC blue peter clip, the concentration at 7 in the clip is astounding, he doesnt care about the cameras or being on tv , he is just focused to win. Looking back , this is tragic, that he came second. For a rookie season though is absolutely amazing. I agree. Also glad that Kimi got one, because he deserved it. So true Kimi was an excellent driver and deserved to win a world championship in a Ferrari, also it doesn't hurt that winning that year was a fitting retribution for spygate. So many great drivers are somewhat forgotten since they were never crowned world champion. I just hope Leclerc eventually gets the same opportunity, his sportsmanship and talent are amazing and he reminds me of a younger Kimi.

Lewis is my role model, somebody I hope to become one day. As I wish to be racing driver for any GT discipline. As a black man like him, we both feel the struggle of racism. He showed me that I can become great no matter skin color.

Amazingly. no one seems to remember Lewis having a big enough lead to almost pit twice without losing 1st place in 2007 Chinese GP. His tires should have lasted longer, but Lewis sats something was wrong with them and wanted to pit; the team continually refuse to let him pit. 8 laps later, having spun out twice and losing a 20+ second lead, he's finally allowed to come in. HE WASNT GOING TOO FAST, HE WAS RUNNING ON CORDS: look at his rear tire when his car was sitting in the gravel. It infuriates me the world blamed Lewis and totally forgets about this fact. And magically, there's no full race replay of the race that would have made him the first, black, rookie world champion... BS

I've just come across this video and was going to say the same thing. I remember watching this race. He complained about the tyres for ages but the team kept telling him to stay out. The commentators kept mentioning the state of the tyres as he was going round. It's also why I laugh at people complaining about modern day Lewis always on the radio complaining about the tyres. He's just making sure everything is ok and wouldn't surprise me if he has slight PTSD from 2007 when it comes to tyre wear

Just one of the many things McLaren did during that season that stopped themselves winning a championship...

13:44 for anyone wondering, Hamilton was told to let Alonso pass on track because McLaren was alternating starting drivers for quali and this was Alonso's turn, but Lewis was let in first by his engineers and at first it was thought to be a mistake and Lewis would let Alonso pass but he didn't. Don't really agree with Lewis' reasoning that this wasn't a good enough reason to let Alonso pass if this had already been agreed upon and was fair and Alonso and his crew would understandably be very frustrated. However, Fernando claiming that he went as soon as he had been counted down isn't true, the ten count finished right before the lollipop was raised and once everyone noticed that he hadn't moved the engineers started in the radio telling Alonso to go, as did everyone else around the car. He is the new senna, a whole different league, he is in a league of his own. If Ron Denis didn’t gave that opportunity we would never be able to see this amazing racing driver

Jacques Villeneuve won 4 races his rookie season and pushed Damon until the season finale for the championship to be decided. Had it not been for the oil leak at the first race of the season that year he would have won his first F1 race before having to settle for 2nd. JV also had 3 poles, 6 fastest laps, and 10 podiums which includes the 4 wins. I think that is very impressive.

Kudos for including 'race' while discussion lewis's meteoric rise. Many vloggers steer well clear of such topics. You have my respect. This vid is no doubt in response to the 'younger' viewers who think Max's hype is the truth. Thanks Aldas. Ps. Lewis was actually overfueled during quali for many of the opening rounds. It wasn't until Canada after the debacle of monaco and through the insistence of the FIA - was he given equal opportunity to grab pole. The rest is history.

One of the greatest autosports success stories of all time and it is still being written.

I remember watching the 2007 season. The most exciting season I have ever watched. I was so thrilled to see a rookie doing so well in his debut year that even though Kimi was my favorite I wanted Lewis to win.

i saw the whole thing! let me tell you, in real time, lewis was literally the most ridiculous talent gp2 had ever seen, he wrote off the field because he outclassed them so. he was already supposed to be in f1 by then honestly but mclaren were doing the very popular raikkonen and montoya pairing. his actual rookie season, his car control was next level you had to watch him in free practice sessions honestly, absolutely incredible the things he was getting away with as a rookie, he was fucking drifting an f1 car in monaco at some point. could not finish any other position but 2nd place until the championship got to canada, interestingly i think it was martin brundle, he interviewed him sometime before monaco and asked him where he thought he would get his first victory, lewis was hoping to get it in monaco lol, interviewer said his best bet was probably canada but that monaco would indeed be a good place to get a maiden victory, but he expected fernando to have more track knowledge which he did in the end. but, hamilton's first win did come at canada as predicted, probably could have won the season just without the gaff at the chinese grand prix, but hey, here was a rookie challenging for the world title, running as the favourite for a time, we had indeed just witnessed something very special. also that 2007 japanese grand prix, that is must watch television.

As a Hamilton fan China and Brazil still both make me want to cry. Especially China shouldn't have happened all he had to do was get a few points 😭

Max probably. But if Red Bull doesn't continue giving him a good car he will not be breaking records unfortunately. The car still matters in F1 and F1 fans should apply that standard to every driver, not just Hamilton.

I remember hearing about it so much as a nascar fan, when i started watching F1, i joined as a LH44 fan lol My dad had said rookies dont deserve to win the championship at that time, crazy

Someone in these comments said that it’s good he didn’t win that year and as someone who remembers celebrating his very first championship I couldn’t agree more. The reason he is the man and the driver he is today is because of the way he dealt with that first season. Had he won, I don’t think his career would’ve panned out the way it has since it gave him a new determination to win knowing he’d gotten so close already.

No one will ever top that season. Rookies don’t get put into top teams like that and Hamilton was brilliant that season up against really stiff competition, plus all the controversy discussed in the video

lewis has everything to be considered the goat best results best rookie seasons most titles most wins most podiums his teammates were world champions that challenged him and his story is so inspiring being the one black driver in history of f1 and being the best for me he's the greatest driver in f1

When people are upset at Hamilton winning race after race each year, I would hope that it’s not that they dislike him as a person or driver. Because he really is one of (if not) the greatest F1 drivers of all time, and has deserved each win. He encompasses everything it means to be a legendary race driver. But yeah, it would be nice to see other drivers win races on occasion, haha.

I agree with you. We need to see more consistent competition from other teams (Its been 6 years now since the start of the hybrid era) and closest rivals Ferrari and Red bull need to step up their efforts. They really need to give the Mercs and Lewis a run for their money in order to make F1 more entertaining again. I think this could one of the reasons there is so much resentment towards Lewis.

So the 2 times Hamilton finished 2nd in the championship were by a combined 6 points total (1 in rookie season & 5 to teammate Rosberg) and the major contributing factors were mechanical not human (gearbox issue in rookie season & Malaysia in 2016) and he’s a 6 time world champ which could easily be 8 time world champ in 13yrs in the sport if it weren’t for those 2 mechanic issues. Tom Brady is regarded as the goat. 6 Super Bowl championships with 9 appearances in almost 20 in the sport. Hamilton is hands down The Goat... yeah that’s right, I said (sorry to all you Michael fans). Great video as always Aldas! Keep up the great work!

Yea he is one of the best f1 content creators even though he may not be the biggest.

That was one of the greatest seasons of F1 in history. So many ups & downs, controversies, politics everything F1 is, was encapsulated in this one season.

I LOVED that season (especiallythe final race!), we had all waited so long to see an English champ after damon hill in 94 and when a young, dynamic and exciting Hamilton burst onto the scene it was absolutely thrilling. He probably should of won in his debut season if it hadn't been for a lack of experience. Hamilton is the GOAT imo and will be sorely missed when he retires.

@@Ochohades what makes a driver legendary, is when they're in a difficult situation, when everything is going wrong.. and through sheer determination they do something magical...and they do this over and over in their careers. Like Schumacher doing 20 laps with a shot gearbox and stuck in 5th gear still getting a podium. Or finishing 1st from the rear. Hamilton, Schumi, Senna. They're all great in their own way. Hamilton is safe and consistent, yet somehow very fast. Amazing braking ability. Like a human ABS. Schumi is like human traction control. Could drive a car past its limits of grip and still have perfect control. He basically drifted around corners to in order to rotate the car faster, so he could accelerate out faster. Senna did what Schumi did on corners but he did it with a completely different technique, and still no one really understands the physics behind his chaotic technique.

Excellent video! At ~0:20, I would also praise _Jacques Villeneuve_ for his rookie season.

I'm pretty sure since 2007 that because of the spygate he was not allowed to get the title. Honestly did anyone ever seen a driver left out on the track until the whole carcass of the tyre was showing it was so worn? They couldn't let him win there

F1 politricks at its worst, glad someone thinks the same, because that's how I saw it at the time. And people wonder why Lewis is so determined to win every chance he gets now.

My thoughts exactly, that and the "trouble transmission" in the next race. But at least it was Kimi who eventually won world champion who admittedly was my favorite to win that season even though I was and am a Renault fan (sad face), and Hamilton did win the next year in spectacular fashion, and many times since, so karma seemed to work its magic in the end.

Uh, no? Scandals that don’t involve the driver only end up in a penalty for the constructors, hence their stripped points. It was just a silly mistake that anyone could make, stop dwelling on it. He won in 2008 and was gifted the titles from 2014 until today, so why do people complain?

Yes, in my opinion he's still unappreciated, with many not seeing how get got to where he is now.

I started watching Formula 1 around the early 90's and have been watching it ever since. i have to say, within those 30 years, I've seen Mansell, Senna, Prost, Schumacher, Vettel, all reach their peaks of performance and obliterate their respective fields. But when Lewis came into the scene, it was the most exciting and enjoyable racing I had ever seen. To watch a rookie pummel all those seasoned veteran pilots was a joy to watch. What made it even more satisfying was that he did it CLEANLY, with pure speed, supreme coordination, and race craft, without resorting to ramming and dirty intimidation tactics as others have done in the past (or present). May he continue to pummel all of his opponents til the day he retires. Amen. Thank you Aldas for this essay.
