Join us on our inaugural year inside the nest of Eastern Bluebirds as we unravel the mysteries of their unique breeding habits and techniques. They have many fascinating secrets, such as how they build their nests and the colour of their eggs.
In the Spring breeding season of 2022, we followed the exciting journey of an Eastern Bluebird family as they embarked on not one but two breeding cycles. Seeing how they formed their nests out of dried grass and compacted it into a perfect cup to hold the eggs was mesmerising. The eggs have a beautiful azure hue, making them stand out from other species. The chicks underwent a malicious journey during the fifteen days, transforming from tiny nestlings to fully-fledged chicks. We certainly look forward to seeing them again the following year.
