I went to an NSN concert with my friend when I was about 14. It was a huge deal to us because our dads agreed to let us go inside alone and they hung out at the restaurant across the street. I caught one of his guitar picks and I actually found it recently while emptying my childhood bedroom (parents are selling the house). I also just graduated from college a month ago, so needless to say it's been a nostalgic time. Thanks for the video!

I had a Myspace since 05, so I think I knew him pretty early on, but I know I definitely knew him by early 09 at least cause I remember my boyfriend at the time quoting his songs to me or something lmao. I didn't realize he was so young and early on in his career though. What a fuckin time to be alive it was back then. The small/local music scene was prime everywhere too. It was so easy for dudes like that to try to tour.

So my brother growing up was a friend of the drummer from Nevershoutnever. My brother always had dreams of being in a band of his own. Around 25 he moved out to the shit town of Joplin MO to pursue that dream be around those guys and he formed a band, played a couple shows, and shattered his knee doing a stage dive. Had to get a fucking knee replacement or some medal in his knee and was basically fucked for a long time on unemployment before having to move back home. He changed careers but still picks up his guitar every now and again. He never became a rockstar like he wanted to, but he did get to see some behind the scenes of bands like NSN and get a taste of what it must be like. I still kind of feel for him, but his life is good now. It’s interesting to look back on bands like this and be reminded about how much he tried for a music career like that.

Our band won a contest set up by alternative press magazine where we were voted best acoustic duo in the bay area and got featured in the magazine (AP&R) and got to open for Chris when he came to town. We opened for a few of our favorite bands at the time like Dance Gavin Dance, the scene aesthetic and the story so far but never shout never was a huge deal for us. Good era to look back on. I super rarely comment on KZread videos, kinda just watch 'em, leave a like or a dislike, and move on, but I gotta say: You put in a lot of work into editing your videos. It's a wonder why you don't have more subscribers than you do (182 as of writing.. Hey, ain't that a cool number?) but I'm sure they'll all come in time. If I could suggest -one- thing that doesn't at all have to do with your content, though: Your videos are all shot in front of a door, and there are some things to the side of you, and I get it if you don't have much room to record, but if you can find a way to record in front of a blank wall (maybe a book case of something off to the side, like TheNeedleDrop) it'd help sell your presentation more But, as it stands, great content. You don't really have to change anything about the way you gather resources for your content, or how you deliver it. Either way, given that it's hard to put ads on content that have copyrighted material, maybe you should make a Patreon or something

I was in a crowd durring a warped tour that Christopher Drew was preforming at and he laughed at his fan girls, made gross comments avout them, and dumped monster energy drinks all over everyone near the front. I've been in some gnarly crowds before but none of them have ever made me feel like I was going to die quiet like having my ribs crushed by hundreds of scene girls pushing to get closer to him.

I remember 2016 I watched him preform at warped tour ... after the concert there was a meet and greet. We sat in the blazing hot sun for an hour waiting for him to come out because he was smoking weed- he came out high af and looked extremely unhealthy (super thin, pale, etc) we also had to speed up the meet and greet (I imagine because he was gonna pass out lol?) didn’t even say hi to hardly anyone- anyway I hope he has his life together and doin better nowadays :( sucks to see your childhood idol like that for the first time

MySpace was a great time. Fully personalized pages allowed for a great way to fully express one's self. Also there were some horrible ones lol. I remember, one day I got a message from someone promoting their band, gave it a listen and was blown away at as it was the first time I really heard post-hardcore material. It was from Beau Burchell, from Saosin! He asked if I'd I would like to buy a copy, and I was just in 9th grade. I told him I didn't have any money but I loved what I heard, I couldn't afford it. He asked where I lived, sent me a signed copy with everyone's signature & told me dont worry about it! Just show it to all my friends and come to a show when they came around. I've loved them, sincerely, ever since! (I know, I didnt know him and giving away my address could have been bad, lol. But I'm glad I did) ❤

I remember when I was 17 and I was catching the bus to my night school class and NeverShoutNever was in town. You see our downtown district is where we had the bus line and a lot of venues where a lot of bands came. I was walking because maybe I would get to see him and as I was walking down the street, like I saw a tall skinny dude with tattoos and it was Christopher Drew and I said “sorry I can’t make it to your show I have school.” And he said “hey that’s okay thank you for saying hi.” 💕😂

  • @kandychampane

I used to listen to him, but, when he started getting tattoos and openly being a hippie, he was less relatable for me so I was more of a passive fan. And yep, during the good old myspace days 🙃 .. MySpace was superior to Facebook, I don’t know why the world shifted.

almost three months in to quarantine and I've stumbled across this... it's brought me so much joy! I met chris when I was 10 (I was doing the same John Lennon tribute gig as him), then again when I was 18 after being a consistent fan of him. He's hugely inspirational to me, as cheesy as this older stuff can be. I still am even through his sometimes erratic social media behavior and album announcements. Great video and I can't wait to watch more!!
