Saw them last week after being a Brasilian fan from more than 10 years, my dream came true, and Danny's vocals are sick, the final episode was something special
That first demo just literally blew my mind, holy fuck... It's obviously badly produced but holy fuck it already sounded so good
Dude I can't thank you enough for documenting bands and culture from my teenage years.
Regarding them not having any money when they first moved over - As a Brit, someone living in Dubai as a kid normally means their family will have moved for very lucrative busniess work, I suspect their survival for the first few years was heavily funded by the parents (In particuler Ben's, if they took up the main cost of bigger stuff like the RV and the studio) - total speculation but thats what I reckon! your vids are sick mate
Regarding their beginnings in the US it's probably on purpose that everything is opaque, there is one interview where they mentioned that they didn't have visas (it's incredibly difficult to get those if you're not already famous) and they might have been living in the US illegally for a while supported by their parents money (who also bought them an RV) you can imagine that Ben's parents in Dubai must have been rich to a point that they never really had to worry about running out of money. Pretty sure they will never really take about all of this openly due to potential legal risks.

A lot of people mistake everyone who comes from or lives in Dubai as being insanely wealthy. I went to school with Ben Bruce in Dubai, was good friends with his sister and still live in Dxb. If you moved all expats back to their home countries, the majority are middle class. However, with Dubai being tax free, it makes people appear wealthier than they actually are. Worth mentioning when we were in school, dubai was nothing like it is today. It was barely even a city. Now it is something else entirely

You could probably do a entire video on rise records and sumerian records..the history, the bands, the whole 9 yards...that would be pretty dope.
You gotta do a series on Joey Sturgis, he literally shaped the sound of an era of music, he had a pivotal roll in the success of many of our favorite core bands. Also, check out if I die first. It’s the side project of lil lotus, who’s blowing up right now. Their sound is the revival of 2004 tooth and nail core I’d call it. I’m sure you know of them, but I feel like a lot of your audience might not and would love to hear about em!
I've been waiting anxiously for this video since you announced that you were working on it! you also uncovered a funny memory. (edit: in my snapchat memories, it turned out to be 3 years ago today :) ) in my junior year of high school, I went to go see Asking Alexandria, co-headlining with Black Veil Brides, with Crown The Empire as an opener. I think it was either late 2017 or early 2018, but anyways, show was finished, but we were waiting for AA's encore, and it was a strangely long time. after a while, Danny came back out, chugged some water, and basically told the crowd he was late because he had diarrhea.

I agree with what you said about their first year in the US. It really doesn’t make sense how they actually pulled that off. I feel like the fact it was around the time of the 08 financial crisis too didn’t help their situation at all. Very interesting!
i remember asking alexandria being my favorite band when i was 14. i bought the reckless and relentless CD from hot topic once it came out and was sooo hype lol. i saw them live at irving plaza in 2011, looking back i definitely agree that they can command their stage presence immensely well. ben jumped from a balcony into the crowd during the end of one of their songs, and the vibe overall was fucking nuts. it was apparent they loved what they did, and their performance was on par to the studio quality/production. can't wait for part 2, haven't listened to them in years and have no idea where they've gone on their journey since then. thank u for this wonderfully reminiscent video, great work as always dude :]
I'm so happy I discovered your channel. The Punk Rock MBA gives me some of my fix, but never goes too deep into the scene stuff. This is an absolute goldmine. @@Yusoo8 I don’t understand why people still believe this to this day. Label execs wanted to sign her as a solo artist and she agreed under the condition that she could make the music she wanted WITH her bandmates as Paramore. She didn’t want to be turned into a second Avril Lavigne, which is what atlantic originally had in mind. Hayley’s always been upfront about the contract and it was Josh that started this „industry plant“ argument because he was tired of not getting more attention than he thought he was entitled to as one of the main song writers. But I would say that it’s definitely the label’s fault, not Hayley’s. Taylor has said in an interview that they’ve always been aware of the contract and that it doesn’t matter to them who’s name is on it as long as they can all make music together. So i think calling her an industry plant is inaccurate.
