🎸🎶 Welcome to The No Skip Show! 🎶🎸
As youngsters, we often dream of fame and recognition in various fields-be it as a sports star, actor, musician, or even a KZreadr. Yet, for many, those dreams remain elusive, leading to a shift in aspirations within their careers. However, for some, like Christofer Drew, these dreams were achieved early on. However, handling fame, especially at a young age, can be a daunting task. 🌟
In this episode of the no skip show, hosted by Travis Platt, we delve into the captivating rise and fall of Never Shout Never. Christofer Drew, the band's frontman, soared to stardom in the late 2000s and early 2010s, crafting hits like "Trouble," "Happy," and "Can’t Stand It." But behind the success lurked a tumultuous journey marked by breakups, controversies, and fading into obscurity. 🎤
Christofer Drew's story began in Joplin, Missouri, where at 16, he launched Nevershoutnever on Myspace. The project quickly gained traction, leading to the release of the Yippee EP, selling an astonishing 46,000 copies in the US alone. His appearance on TRL and subsequent performances propelled him into the limelight, despite crafting songs that appealed mainly to a younger audience. 🚀
The band's trajectory was marked by significant opportunities, including appearances at Bamboozle Roadshow '09 and Warped Tour, along with signing with Warner Bros Records. Despite the success and the release of notable albums like "What Is Love?," "Harmony," and "Time Travel," Drew faced personal challenges and controversies. 🎸
Allegations, lineup changes, and struggles to connect with their original fanbase led to the band's decline. Amidst personal turmoil, Drew faced legal issues and public controversies, eventually stepping away from the limelight to focus on other projects like Eatmewhileimhot! and Dryymy. 🌪️
The highs and lows of Never Shout Never's career echoed Christofer Drew's struggles with fame, substance abuse, personal tragedies, and attempts at reinvention. Despite multiple comebacks and retirements, the recent announcement of Never Shout Never's return was short-lived, as Drew declared retirement again, redirecting his focus towards professional painting and sobriety. 🖌️
This video explores the complexities of early fame, its impact on young artists, and the challenges of reconciling life's complexities without the luxury of time. Christofer Drew's journey mirrors the struggles of many young stars, highlighting the importance of self-care amidst success. 🌟

Drugs and mental health struggles. His brother being gunned down by police during a mental health episode sent him off the edge I think.

NSN is and always will be my favorite band of all time. As a fan that has stayed loyal, I've definitely seen even more bits and pieces that show the good, bad and ugly. I've met him a few times, and even the first time, when he almost slipped through undetected and my annoying overexcited teenage self outed him as he walked by, he was so sweet. I did see a documentary about Warped Tour and he was talking about missing out on his childhood a little, and he was injured and these girls still wouldn't leave him alone. I saw interviews about girls hiding in his dressing room. I saw girls at a concert trying to light other girls on fire for blocking their view. Back when all he wanted was the spread peace. I feel awful for him, and there have been little things he's mentioned more recently that make so much sense. His brother was also obviously a big trigger, and his brother had mental issues WITHOUT all the drugs and fame, so it clearly ran in the family. I will miss NSN forever, but I know he needs his peace. He claims there will be one last tour next year, but you never know until you know. If I was good at videos I could have a whole series myself, but I've already rambled too much.

I owe a few good one nighters to Christopher Drew. Knowing how to play Trouble on a uke in 2011 was all a guy needed in those days lol

Chris is a really smart, talented guy. Troubled, for sure. I’m around his age and grew up in Joplin and ran around social circles he frequented. Seemed like there was a switch around 2011-2012 when he started really getting into heavy psychedelics. It was so sad to hear about his brother, David. I’m sure that couldn’t have helped any problems he was having.

Thank you for the insight, super interesting to hear from someone who knew him more personally, definitely a ton of talent, and I’m hoping he’s putting it towards whatever he sets his mind to.

Wow… i never knew he turned out to be an abuser… I knew drugs destroyed him but never knew how low he sank… to think I literally tried drugs because of him. I’m so thankful I made it out. Drugs are evil man.
