The Space Race: Is Europe falling behind?

India’s recent space launch came just a week after Europe’s Ariane 5 rocket flew its last mission. With its replacement’s debut being pushed back again, has Europe fallen so far behind schedule, its new technology will be old before it lifts off?

It's only in the past 3 centuries when West dominated the world, the average life expectancy of human being increased from 25 to 75, average per-capita increased from 600 dollars to 16,000 dollars, democracy starts to spread to more than hundred countries. Just look at how the world grew (in terms of science, technology) during the past 300 years and compare it with before Western dominance on the world to understand how West changed the world. World should thank Europeans for that.

@@jeanettewee8805come out of the delusion friend. You are seemingly not familiar with the ancient civilizations. Leave that, what good has the west caused to Asia, Africa, South America? The progress that the West made with looted resources, were only limited to Europe and America. So don't lecture about improvement parameters as even today African children are suffering from malnourishment and hunger, the divide and rule policy of WEST has given rise to radical Islam and terrorism over the world. It is the west who is responsible for the nuclear attack on the face of earth, man made famine in many countries leading to the death of lakhs or crores perhaps. It's the WEST who declined the supply of vaccines to the other countries in need. We helped them. Even we Indians were targeted. Indeed the west advanced in science and technology but at the cost of blood and tears of ours. Therefore, wake up and get out of fools paradise, look how Asian countries are now taking over when they are free from "WEST". Look at Japan, China, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, India, the entire Arab World, Brazil... Look at the world's biggest corporates we Indians are controlling, including few nations who once ruled us 😂😂. West who keeps cross in there flags depicting Christianity, lectures about democracy??? How many Blacks did Europe have as Presidents ??? I remember none... Eastern Asia was always democratic, until the invasion of Islam. Even Kings were not allowed to take decision unilaterally, there used to be courts where even the kings were answerable.... Economy and Technology, huh ???? My foot. Just look at India's ISRO with annual budget of $1.9 Billion, ISRO have either done these missions or is on way to do these missions. I have always known ESA for doing collaboration with NASA and helping NASA with NASA's mission, whereas India, China, Japan and USA have made their own programs and are actively doing progress. ESA is first and foremost a scientific organization with many scientific missions on the forefront. It has landed on a comet, landed on the moon Titan, and has missions in the past and present like Gaia, Planck, Euclid to name few that give breakthroughs in physics an astrophysics. Nobody interested in the fields of science will ever say that ESA is behind. It also has the largest fleet of satellites in the world for scientific earthobservation. I get that the Indian space agency has less money and chooses it to land a vehicle on the moon, wich is first and foremost a pr operation. You ask yourself what ESA is doing, but your ignorance about what they are doing does not proove that they are doing nothing. ESA is at the absolute forefront of space science. Scientists know this.

Just look at how the world grew (in terms of science, technology) during the past 300 years and compare it with before Western dominance on the world to understand how West changed the world. I think all nations could work on achieving complementary objectives instead of competing with each other on a single objective. Our nations have different capabilities. I believe that we can share knowledge and expertise going forward and work together synergistically as a team. For instance, India is a genius at optimizing cost. However, it trades it off with time. The US is good at optimizing time but at the expense of cost! So we could use India's technology to launch payloads that don't need to reach quickly (at a very low cost) to space and also as many times as we want. We could use the US's technology to launch payloads that need to reach quickly (like astronauts). One could use anything in between as well. I think, as per my understanding, Europe is interested in science experiments. The US is interested in setting up bases. India is interested in improving its economy through commercialization and inspiring the young generation to study science and technology. Whatever our objectives are, we could look for ways to share and care.

They provided some telemetry and tracking coverage. Cuz the antennas of Nasa has its equipments built on different European locations. India Signed Artemas accord & these space agencies share data all the time.. India will also share its experiment data of moon with ESA & NASA as they did in Chandrayan 1 mission. India & Japan will also launch Chandrayan 4 as Japan failed last time. India will also launch Nasa Nisar project. So it means they all get along with each other & doing projects together for a long time. So this isn't the debate. The debate is that can ESA complete with Agencies like NASA, CSA, ISRO on individual level? ESA is very much dependent on NASA specially if u take European countries alone they are way behind these nations. Take for example UK. They dont even have Rocket & launchpads. So obviously the question will arise sooner or later. U cant be dependent on others while in a Race.
