    I had the first generation of these and the larger sub all paired with a compatible 65” Sony Bravia and it’s absolutely the best thing I’ve ever used in home theater. I put my Sonos system totally aside. Since moving back stateside here I will be buying this second generation and a Bravia 8 or 9.

    Thanks for the review. Could you please suggest a compatible stand for that? Maybe something to screw to the back of the speakers?

    The Quad speakers can sit on any solid platform-type stand that can accomodate a 5" deep x10" wide base as that's the size of the feet that come with the Quads. If you want a slimmer/sleeker type of stand, Sanus makes one with a rear plate that extends high enough to attach to the Quad speaker's back mounting screw hole. Those are available on Best Buy: howl.me/cmjUJJyagKV

    Is there a good speaker stand that goes with theater quad speakers for front as well as rear?

    There are several stand options, depending on whether you want a solid platform type stand or a sleeker slim stand that attaches to the back of the Quad speaker and gives the speaker more of a floating look. The Quad speakers can sit on any solid platform-type stand that can accomodate a 5" deep x10" wide base as that's the size of the feet that come with the Quads. If you want a slimmer/sleeker type of stand, Sanus makes one with a rear plate (model BSSU2-B1) that extends high enough to attach to the Quad speaker's back mounting screw hole. The hollow stand leg can hide the power cable for a really nice finished look. I believe those are exclusive to Best Buy - you can buy them here: howl.me/cmjUJJyagKV

    This thing is crazy expensive and for the price of that sub it should get down to 20 Hertz

    The price premium is because this and the SW3 are the only subs you can use with Sony's soundbars and theater speaker systems. I will say it is a competent sub from my listening so far, but if you go with a separates system (receiver and speakers) you can definitely find a stronger subwoofer for less.

    Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm very interested in these speakers for my EPSON 5050ub home theater projector and am curious if there's a way to hook these up to a splitter of some sort, so I could have at least a ps5 and apple tv linked up to it. I haven't had any luck finding out an answer, guy at best buy told me no but hoping for a 2nd opinion.

    It can be done but it would be a little awkward. You could get a 4K-capable HDMI switch, connect your sources to that, plug the switch'es HDMI output into the "HDMI In" input on the QUAD and connect the QUAD's HDMI output to one of the projector's HDMI inputs. It would be awkward, with switching required on the QUAD, on the HDMI switch and on the projector but it would work. It would be much simpler if the projector supported eARC on HDMI, but it doesn't. But since the Quad does have that second HDMI port (unlike some soundbars which only have a single HDMI/eARC port), you could do what you want with a simple HDMI switch. A better solution for that projector would be an A/V receiver and speakers. A good A/V receiver can switch multiple 4K (or even 8K) sources, and you'd just run one long HDMI cable to the projector for the video signal. Do all the switching on the receiver remote and just keep the projector set to its HDMI 1 input at all times. For the $3K price of the Quad plus subwoofer, you could put together a pretty impressive receiver/speaker system. Yes, you would have to deal with speaker wires, but those can be hidden in the walls or ceiling.

    wow, how does this compare against the A9?

  • @ecoustics

    @ecoustics

    These are the replacement for the HT-A9, similar in function but quite different in aesthetic design. The A9 was a 2-way design (plus up-firing driver) while the Quad features a 3-way speaker design with dedicated tweeter, midrange and woofer in each speaker (plus the full-range up-firing driver). Also, Sony says the wireless connectivity issues that some customers experienced on the A9 system have been addressed in the BRAVIA Theatre Quad. In the few days we've had the system, we haven't noticed any drop-outs of any kind and the sound is quite promising.

    Does it sound miles better than A9?

  • @ecoustics

    @ecoustics

    @@lifeevent88 - To us, it sounded better. It's a 3-way vs. a 2-way speaker. It also seems to have addressed the WiFi dropouts that happened sometimes on the A9. Is it worth $2500 plus the cost of a sub? That's a personal choice.

    Sony recommends 10 ft apart. Can you test front speakers only 6ft apart just on the sides of a 65 TV, and tell me how it sounds

    I think you should have made clear the power socket requirements for this system as for me, I think the reviews are really positive but what stops me is the 6x power socket inc the necessary bass required to run this system. Thats compared with two sockets for a normal receiver and subwoofer speaker system.

  • @ChrisBoylan

    Nothing is truly "wireless" except a battery powered speaker. And even those need to be plugged in to recharge. 99% of "wireless" speakers for home use have power plugs. All powered soundbars need power plugs. Rear speakers for soundbars need power plugs. Powered subwoofers need power plugs. You can't create sound without power so if you're not running a speaker wire across the room from a receiver or amplifier to a speaker, then the speaker on the other end is going to need to be plugged into power for its internal amplifier and to power the RF communication. The trade off is between "complexity" with individual speaker wires required to each speaker in the system all over the room, or "simplicity" where everything communicates wirelessly but each speaker needs a power plug for sound amplification and RF connectivity. The assumption is that speakers in the front of the room will be at or near the front wall and will have access to power outlets. And speakers in the back of the room will be at or near the back wall with access to power outlets.

    How come they never make a center channel

    Most people wouldn’t have room for a square center channel. Alternatively some Sony TVs can turn the screen into a center channel speaker.

    1x power socket per speaker plus 1x for the connection box and 1x more for the necessary subwoofer. A total of 6 power sockets and that's my only issue with this system. I simply don't have 6 spare power sockets in a room that already has many appliances in and only two double plug wall sockets.

  • @ecoustics

    @ecoustics

    @@MaZEEZaM - all powered soundbars, powered subs and powered rear speakers are like this .Each unit needs a power plug. The good news is that a.) The Class D amps in these speakers are pretty efficient and don't use much power and b.) the front speakers and sub are probably going to be on or near a front wall and the rear speakers will be on or near a rear wall, which means it's most likely that both the front and the rear speakers will be close to a mains outlet.
