If you were a first generation child of immigrants, you can so relate to why all the grown ups are crying and why the young ones and Adriana don't have a clue. Our parents would love sharing their songs from the old country with us as they remembered home. And we cry because we remember them.

Yes and they didn't even speak Italian. The uploader of this video amusingly cut out most of the Meadow parts and the very ending of the season, where Junior's song transitions into French, Chinese and Spanish songs. He didn't get it, so he just left it out. These people watch The Sopranos without any idea of what the show is about. Oliver Stone said that "Generally, popular films are a result of a misunderstanding between the public and the director" and you can observe this in full effect with The Sopranos.

That’s part the message yes. But the other part is that there is also a divide between the older generation being nostalgic and complacent about what in reality is a super fucked up thing. Organized crime that involves the taking of human lives along with other very heinous crimes. Earlier in the episode the therapist really tries to press Tony into trying to resize this. And all he says is “I didn’t have a choice but I want to give my children a choice” the hypocrisy in that statement is that sure, he’s providing for his kids and wanting to me better than him and not follow his path. But he is doing all the things he doesn’t want his children doing. And they grew up seeing this left and right, since episode one. medow growing wise to what her father did. And AJ literally following in tony’s footsteps with his anxiety in the same exact way. Developing a panic attack because he is literally scared of his own father, just like how Tony had his first panic attack trigger. So then the younger generation as represented by medow and AJ in this scene are like “wtf...? We’re crying singing and being all nostalgic for our families organized crime affiliations that we are pretty sure lead to the killing of one of our own...? Fuck this...”

Fascinating Junior is the son of actual Italians, those songs are the memory of the old country that he got from his parents. Most of us first and second generation immigrants cry like that for a reason. Our Parents or grandparents would often bring with them and play the music from the old country, and we as kids would often sit there and listen and enjoy it with them as they remembered home. Those are the reasons for the tears for most of the people in this scene and why Adriana and the younger ones are not as in touch with the moment. This means more than just singing.

Even though Meadow is framed as the bad guy in this scene she's the only person there that's morally in the right.

One of the most beautiful scenes in show history, esp at the end where the same or similar song to "Core Ingrato" fades into a French version, then Chinese with the fire, and with Spanish in a mariachi style!

It makes sense because the actor playing junior would be classically trained to act sing and dance as most actors of his generation were.

I’ve seen this scene so many times that I cannot even stop noticing the huge voice over from 3:52 Gab’s voice saying “Ungrateful Heart” had to have been dubbed for some reason. You can tell. Otherwise this is purely brilliant

No one in the comment section below gets it that Meadow is actually the most devastated person in the entire room and her childish acting out is a façade for the terrible pain she feels (Great scene by David Chase)
