The Sony A7C and HDR Photography Tutorial - Start to Finish

In this Sony A7C Tutorial I will discuss HDR Photography using the bracketing feature and more. After we go over the camera settings I will show you how to process the HDR Photos from Lightroom to HDR Efex Pro 2 and then into Color Efex Pro for the final touches... By the end of this video I am confident you will be able to create awesome HDR Photos all by yourself. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I do not cover Auto HDR in this video, because I'm saving that for another video dedicated to the Sony A7C in camera creative options. Thanks for watching, Jay

    Came across this thru a search and Jay, you are a savior! I've been doing videography and when it came to photography (real estate to be specific), I always went for the one shot and color correct it. Now I got a crash course on how to HDR thanks to you and awesome to see the settings made for the A7C. Hopefully you have an updated video when the A74 comes out. Thanks again!!! Subscribed!

    HI Jay, many many thanks for all these tutorials. I am just back into photography as a retirement hobby in 2022 with a new Sony a6400 . major learning curve after film many many years ago and a deliberate challenge choosing this camera to test and exercise my brain. I saw many many folks moaning about Sony menus and took this as a challenge. I am constantly watching your videos , not just for the a6400 but many other Sony cameras to pick up more and more info. just watching your HDR /A7C tutorial and learning lots.! many thanks, keep up the great and much appreciated tutorials. best regards.

Did it do that automatically with the settings you provided us with? When I take some pictures in the bracked mode they're all with fairly high shutterspeeds. Did I miss something here? Nonetheless the pictures are turning out amazing. Ps. I began with zero knowledge, this was really helpful!

    Yes I am aware, thanks! I still don't though and have never had an issue, because the camera recognizes when on a tripod and does not engage the stabilization. @@Jason_Hermann yeah, I bought the suite, it's actually pretty nice. It's weird that your have them as seperate links. I thought those were $100 seperately at which point I was thinking the HDR Efex wouldn't be worth it. One thing I did notice about the HDR Efex is that its doesn't seem to like to merge more than 3 images. That's annoying because I had gotten used to combining 9 images when I was bracket shooting. I guess I could just change the setting, but overall it is pretty nice. I'm going to experiment with some of the other programs and see what I can create.

    With the Sony a7c with "proxy recording" video capabilities, is there any advantage/disadvantage to using the "proxy" recorded video for film/video projects? I see the proxy videos are about 1/3 or 1/4 the size of the regular videos. Is there any quality loss or degradation?

  • @Jason_Hermann

    @Jason_Hermann

    3 жыл бұрын

    Proxy recording is a tool to help speed up your workflow in post processing. It's just a lower quality/ lower resolution version of your main video. Therefore, editing is way faster on older computers when using there "proxy". However, when the video is rendered for output, it will use the "real" video footage and give you that 4k quality. You can also create proxy media in post processing software for the same purpose, but that is time consuming which is why Sony offers it on the camera. With all that being said, no you don't want to use the proxy video for you actual footage, because it's lower quality and resolution.
