Once upon a time, JiU (the leader of the group) compared Dreamcatcher to a set of stairs. Every step forward that they take is also a step up. As you said, their songs and MV's just keep getting better and better with each release. Yoohyeon, with the silver hair, started the chorus in You and I. She also did the "soo-doo-doo-doo" that you liked so much. JiU followed and Siyeon wrapped it all up. And yes, Siyeon did the high note towards the end.

You and I is considered by many fans to be when they really cemented their sound as dreamcatcher, and I am one of those many fans. What is a bit underrated for some reason, but it does seem like everyone loves it whenever they hear it as a reaction. In what when you went "siyeon?", yep that's her singing! The orange leather suit thing she has on and this one looks really nice. I know starting with You and I, Dami started getting writing credits and I know she is involved with writing many of her raps.

Dreamcatcher have been on the chopping block before, and they spent the first 3 years as Dreamcatcher never knowing if the next comeback was going to be the last. They were told by others in the industry to change their sound, that they'll never be successful with Rock, that their concept was doomed to fail. There were very real fears that Boca was going to be their last comeback and there's some pretty emotional Interviews with the members where Gahyeon was sobbing and begging InSomnia to stay with them until the end. It wasn't until Maison, 1924 days after debut, that they got their first music show win. They still hold the record for the longest time between debut and a first win for a girl group with all the original members. I once saw a reactor say, and I'm paraphrasing some, that "Dreamcatcher looks like a group with a ton of talent who also have something to prove, and that's a dangerous combination." The girls all love what they do, and they are always working on improving their craft, because they know what it feels like to fail. Loving your reactions to them and I really hope that once you get through the title tracks you'll start looking at their albums. They've got amazing b-sides that will surprise you and keep you guessing.

Dreamcatcher !!! They are fantastic !! 🔥🔥🔥

In "You and I" you can see the spider queen coming for Yoohyeon. She is the old woman that is being photographed - only to rob Yoohyeon's spirit. Also, earlier we see Dongie being pinned to the wall by needles, what is usually done to insects. For me, Yoohyeon's spirit is being pulled out here and thrown into the white dimension, which we will see again in Piri. The spider queen takes over her body, which is why we see JiU try to free Yoohyeon (without success) and grab her neck in the end. I highly recommend to check out the dance practice as well, because Dami does something very special that didn't make it into the MV. "What" is still in my top 3 favorite title tracks. It's heavy for a Korean release and I love the syncopation in the second half of the chorus. Story-wise this is the first time they wear non-uniform outfits, which I believe is because they lost Yoohyeon (or at least her spirit) and are kind of broken. You can also see them search for her alone, not as a group. For me this is a song about the loss of a loved one and what that does to a group or family. I might be reaching, but this is the meaning for me.

Most new reactors make the same mistake with You and I. Always take the MVs from Dreamcatcher's YT channel. They always have subs.

If I had to bet, the falsetto background vocals you identified are probably Siyeon, the main vocalist. Most of the time the vocals of whoever is singing at the moment are used to stack them together (for a fuller sound or for harmonies) but aside from that the background vocals are done by Siyeon all over the place in the discography - but I saw no official credits one way or another for You And I. My ears believe it's Siyeon but it's hard to be sure that deep in the mix! Yoohyeon also has some cool falsetto/like moments too! (For example, the "du-du-du-duuu" moment at the end of the bridge before final chorus.)

dreamcatcher \:D/ what songs you like depends on which side of the musical fence you are on. there are a lot of fans who love the nightmare series and think ootd is their worse song. there are fans who don't like the nightmare series, but love the dystopia trilogy because it is more 'kpop' like. if you want to hear vocals, maybe try a slower song or one of their ballads. some popular ones are 'jazz bar' or 'always'. just use color coded lyrics for those since there is no video.
