Glad Corey said it. This movie was forced to be completed because the studio wanted to salvage some money and so everyone was forced to complete their contracts. Its the sunk cost fallacy in action.

Even the director admitted that they didn't shoot all the scheduled scenes,because the studio wanted to save some money and they had to edit the movie together with less scenes then planned.

Slow West, XMen, Steve Jobs? I haven't seen Macbeth, but it got decent reviews. But you're semi-right. He's had a lot of flops too.

I love having Martin in the same frame as Korey :D His reactions are are all hilarious. From the sublime head tilts and slight eyebrow raising to the full on "you for real?"

It seems the Snowman is the Bye Bye Man of serial killers.

the val kilmer thing wasn't his fault. when they shot this he was going thru chemo and it effected his ability to speak. the director didn't want to fire him cause the didn't want to kick the guy when he was down. that's the one pass i will give this movie

@@Spewgo you do know movies are cast months sometime even over a year in advance. what's to say Val wasn't doing chemo treatments when he signed on. again you're not gonna fire the guy for having cancer it would be a pr nightmare. plus in retrospect it was a good thing he didn't because it not like Val was the one thing that fucked the movie...the movie would have been a shit show with or without him and on the other end if Val was at 100% his performance would have been wasted anyways. so the way I see it them not firing him was a very minor net win for the project because if there is ever a project to not be at 100% it's this piece of shit.

@@Spewgo no, in Jan of 2015 he went in for tests. casting was done in Aug to Oct of 2015 and they started shooting in jan 2016. So it might have been March/April before the found the problem and started treatment. from there sure I'm willing to give that there would be a few month treatment of chemo before being cast and about 9 before shooting. 2 things you can put it down to. he throat wasn't that bad at the time of casting and in the time between he had a sharp drop off or he was bad and he got cast through his agent without having to read for the part and when he turned up on set in the shape he was in they could do fuck all about it

"Mother." "Why did you try to kill me?" "I live." *lol* I rewatch that part all the time and laugh so hard I cry.

So wait, what happened was the studio didn't give them enough time to shoot the whole script, and then forced them to edit together what footage they had shot, even though the story was basically incomplete? No wonder it turned out so bad.

Easily his top 10 best lines. I've never heard a movie described like that before, probably the best description I've personally ever heard.

Val Kilmer filmed this around the time he got diagnosed with Throat Cancer. Which is why his voice was dubbed. But they could have replaced him, he was not essential to the role.

The crew always hella funny but mann when patrick and Goodwin was in the mix... holy shit the dynamic of all 4 of the guys was amazing

There’s a movie worst than Geostorm, Emoji movie and Boo 2?????? That’s gotta be a record.

I think Val Kilmer has throat cancer or something, which explains why he didn't speak in the movie. Regardless, there was no point in casting him if he can't even speak. I hope he gets better, though.

I wish they would make a movie.

I am so sadden about Michael Fassbender's track record. He has such charisma and is deserving of better roles. However, with a string of misses including The Counselor, Assassins Creed, X-Men: Apocalypse, and now Snowman, I am beginning to think that he is not going to be cast in roles that are commensurate to his talent. I was hoping that he would be a front runner for the next James Bond, but given his string of box office failures, that looks more and more unlikely.

This review makes me want to actually see this. A good movie entertains you with what it does well. But a genuine train wreck of a flick can be every bit as much if not even more entertaining. It all depends on the company and availability of booze.

yes the guy is named Harry Hole, but it is the Scandinavian word for Hill and pronounced (aproximately) Hooleh.

Hilarious review, once again. I saw this in the cinema - I've never seen a film as incoherent or badly-edited as this, particularly the bits with Val Kilmer in!

Kilmer has had to deal with a lot of physical treatments in the last ten years. He had a swollen tongue that was treated, so he doesn’t sound like himself anymore. That’s why they ADRed it.

So JK Simmons is master Roshi? 🤔

@@wiinterflowers4277 maybe the agents are getting them the best roles they can, maybe theirs some reason for it like a unofficial blacklisting against them or maybe they like doing cheesy films if it pays good enough out of a dark sense of humor and delight in not having to worry about how the film will be regarded because they arent even putting their "A" game into it, just thier "B or C" game into it

The only way I can relate The Popcorn Song to the killer is that he pops off heads. I'm having trouble finding another way to justify it.

The Snowman is being called the worst film of the year, yet it has a higher Cinemascore grade than mother!

I literally thought this was going to be a frosty the snowman horror film with frosty going around murdering women for the hell of it. But this film's plot was still laughable after I found out what it was actually going to be about. The trailer says enough for me.

I was so disappointed in this. This is the third bad movie for Fassbender in a row. Alien Covenant had a stupid reveal for the origin of the Xenomorphs and the main characters were so stupid. Assassin's creed was stupid. This movie was such a train wreck. Val Kilmer is suppose to be playing the detective that was previously investigating these murders. I guess he was getting to close and that is why the killer killed him.

I was hoping you guys would review this. I only watched it because my brother showed the trailer to me, I thought it looked bad, and wanted to verify my suspicion without just appealing to RT/IMDB/etc. aggregate scores. It was actually even worse than I thought.

Tomas Alfredson directed this. He tends to film movies with a slow pacing. He did Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Some people like that movie but I found it boring. This movie had such slow pacing too. Sometimes it made the movie feel bored.

The Harry Hole series is very popular.

I watched it a couple months ago and *OH GOD,* it was a damn chore to sit through. I love Michael Fassbender and I'm a fan of some of the actors in this film, but this film was insulting, Double Toasted, I applaud you!

Very entertaining and accurate analysis of this movie.

Everything in the movie sounds horrible.

I still wonder how the hell they got so many famous actors in this TV movie...

The snowman on the poster looks like Salad Fingers.

The thought of hearing The Popcorn Song in that context is actually kind of scary. I haven't seen the film, but I get the feeling it wasn't done right. Having said that, I bet it can be.

The Snowman is one of my favorite "so bad it's good" film. Every time I've shown it to someone, we've all been cracking up. Terrible thriller, hilarious comedy. It's almost getting funnier the more I've seen it 😅

I kept drifting in and out of this movie, and I thought that was making me lost with the movie...but from what you guys say, it wasn't just me.

I was barely paying attention while watching the movie but guessed right who the villain was.

Val Kilmer (wrong spelling?) was dubbed because his tongue was swollen because of cancer. I , personally, would have a hard time firing him and recasting. the character, his performance would have to be really bad.
