my favorite classical piece of all time. All of Ma Vlast is incredible but my gosh. I love it so much. I’ve been trying to learn an arrangement on piano for years.

Smetana's "Vlatava" is one of my favourite pieces, and has been for forty years, ever since it was first played to me in a music class in school when I was 10 years old. Our teacher told us to really listen and see if we could pick out all the different instruments in the orchestra as they played. I'd only just started playing flute, and hearing its silvery line as it wove all the way through the piece, dancing and diving like the waters of the Moldau itself right from its source all the way down to the sea was one of the many epiphanies music has brought to me through the years. Hearing your version is like having an old friend return for a visit - looking a little different, but welcome all the same. :-) A lovely version.

Kindred spirit. I was also 10 and was introduced to it in school. I went (aged 24) to Prague just to see the river with my own eyes. Bought a CD of a local orchestra playing it while there... Almost obsessive over it.

Smetena's moldau has to the most beautiful patriotic music ever written.

Smetana's masterpiece Vltava (Moldau) is my absolutely favorite piece from the works of our Czech composers. This song makes me proud to be Czech. Your version is amazing, thank you very much. 💜💜💜

As someone who’s bought both your and The Piano Guys music and also compiled a three hour long snow queen playlist, I agree, this is lovely. And I’ve always loved The Moldau too.

I've played Smetana's Moldau about 4 times over the years. It is, by far, my favorite piece to play in symphony! I love the cello part, at least when we played the awesome parts! lol. I don't like just being known as the oomp-pa-pa instrument!!! Merry Christmas Steve and Jon!

I've been a huge fan of Smetana since I was a child! Beautiful rendition!!

I would like to remind those that are disappointed this is not one of their videos, that these guys are not playing in a studio or have a staged area. These are REAL places. It takes a lot of effort to haul a piano to a mountaintop, rooftop, middle of the forest, etc, as well as themselves & the crew that work to bring us their amazing videos. It takes a lot of time & money & be mindful of weather conditions, too. Thank you for this beautiful music. I absolutely loved it. I felt the heart & soul you put into this, even without a video ❤️ 🎹 🎶

I agree 100%. I come to your KZread channel to watch a performance. What Makes You Beautiful for example; that would have been a far less entertaining video (like this one) with a still photo instead of watching you do your thing. Watching you do your thing made it much more powerful. Please consider going back to the recorded performance videos.

You gotta also take into consideration how much time and $$ is required for every music video. On top of the composing/arranging/recording and touring. Of course videos are nice for us but also understandable that they have more to do in order to reach their goals and support their families.

I disagree. This is music not MTV, close your eyes and listen. Give it your full attention, please. Also, I *love* this video, it's beautiful, and I'm glad they did it this way.

I think the stills or animated stills are best for listening to music. Think album playlists. However, the music videos with you guys playing and the snippet of behind the scenes/thanking the fans at the end is best for performance viewers. In short, why not both? 😂

Fun fact: Vltava river officially converges into Labe (Elbe) river. Later, when more accurate methods became available, it was found that Vltava adds more water into the stream and technically, the river after Mělník town , should be called Vltava, not Labe.

This is beautiful! This was one of my favorite pieces I’ve ever played in orchestra, and this summer I had the chance to go to Prague where I saw the landscape that inspired it. I love your spin on it and it makes my music heart so happy ❤❤

Looked this up. Both Moldau and Hatikvah are separate adaptations of La Mantovana by Giuseppe Cenci.
