Meaning / Story behind the song:
When we first heard Rachel Platten's "Fight Song" we were inspired by its message. In a world where we too often talk about our differences, we have at least one thing in common. We all struggle. Not in the same way, nor at the same level, but we all want a fighting chance. And we all share in one gift: The will to make the most of our lives. To take what we've been given and turn it into something better could be considered the sentient measuring stick of success. But to do so seldom is simple and more often requires we fight. Not against each other. But against the current threatening to drown the ambition in us.
There is a tremendous purpose in struggle. It is when the struggle becomes so fierce that we must fight to swim or sink. John Newton, who penned "Amazing Grace," worked on a slave trader ship and condoned inhuman atrocities. As his ship was on the verge of being torn apart in a violent storm he called out for Grace. Once his feet were again planted on firm soil he determined to change. His covenant was written into these words,
"I once was lost, but now I'm found; was blind, but now I see."
Grace is the defining moment when we face and fight a monster poised to define us or destroy us.
This song and video for us were a struggle, but a beautifully defining one. We chose the Scottish culture to depict the dichotomy between Grace and struggle. Who else is tough enough and yet delicate enough to don a kilt in battle? And the Scottish pipe and drum are the ultimate conveyors of melody and cadence. One represents Grace, the other the indomitable fight. Our dream was to film one of the most iconic castles on the Earth, Eilean Donan Castle in Dornie, Scotland.
Grace somehow made this video possible. We had to postpone our trip to Scotland several times, and when we could no longer postpone we had to leap in faith because... READ THE FULL STORY HERE: smarturl.it/amazinggrace1

My brother died by suicide a week ago. Yesterday we played this song as they walked his casket to his grave. The men in the family always wear kilts as a tribute to our heritage. My brother loved his kilt and was proud to wear it. We buried him in it and my family wore there’s. This song reminds me of him and I can always feel him near when I listen to it.

My wife and I went to the Smith Center here in Las Vegas for their last show last night. I had forgotten about this song in their repertoire. My older brother had died from injuries sustained in an accident this past summer. He was a firefighter and my hero. I started bawling when they started to play and when the pipers came on stage I totally lost it. I’m still choking up writing this. Thank you The Piano Guys for an amazing show and letting me get out the emotions I have been keeping in

It’s a marvellous song, and I’m so glad it’s giving you strength. Hang in there! As a survivor of 54 years, I feel blessed to have seen my babies grow up and have children of their own. May you, too, be blessed. As an aside, my father was born in Scotland, which I love, having visited two or three times, and Eileen Donan castle is one of our favourite places. Coincidentally, one child was there TODAY, photographing it.

@@jodidruecker9233 Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the struggles and madness in this world today, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He will help us through the struggle, the stress, and anything we experience in the world. It's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves, we need Him to help us as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. Christ says in John 16:33: I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] - (AMPLIFIED version) NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. Regardless of what you've done or what you're going through you CAN make it through Jesus. Xx

Just in case anybody wants to know Jon is wearing the traditional Scottish "Ferguson Ancient Tartan" plaid, while Steven is wearing a version of the "US Air Force Reserve Band tartan" plaid adopted in 1990. A Plaid is the the name of the tartan shawl worn draped over the shoulder. This is not to be confused by the Plaid PATTERN, which is a 2 or 3 color pattern of regular shapes (usually squares). A Tartan is a regular repeating pattern that is identical both vertically and horizontally (you can turn it 90 degrees in either direction and it still looks the same)

+Matheus Moreira Oh, I hate to open this Pandora's box on youtube . . . It kind makes me annoyed to see Mormons trying to take this song. This song is about Christ the son of God that cam to save us. Mormons reject Christ's deity and therefore his ability to have done anything for us. Because of this it sort of pains me to see piano guys using these lyrics.

As you should be! When I was young, my father was deployed to a little town in Britain that hated Americans. During WWII, it had been a bomber base, and the American planes accidentally lost their load over the town due to a freak accident. We were ostracized, treated as pariahs, until the owners of the local country house took pity on us and let us live in their guest house. They would send the Scottish housemaid down to clean the place. During the winter, because of the class differences, she would try to leave her kids outside - back then "the servants didn't let their family mingle with the house". My mama was like... oh no no no... We're AMERICANS... you bring that baby in HERE where it's warm! As a result, my first playmate was the Scottish housekeepers daughter. We were so little at the time. I still remember her and her red hair. *heart hands*

No words to describe the artistry on this video, the piano, the drums, the pipes, the fantastic camera work, the amazing Scottish landscape, and a song that can be adopted by anyone going through a rough patch. I first heard the song on an Audition by Calysta Bevier, then I looked up the original artist where I found a link to this masterpiece, definitely going to share it with my FB friends. Great work Piano Guys.

Was led by my grandson to pull this up just to share the sound of the bagpipes! Not sure why but became pretty emotional while listening to it! The tears were flowing! Then came back and listened to it just now. My thought was that "Amazing Grace" is my fight song! The bagpipes and other instruments are quite wonderful together!!!

Your music inspired me to begin learning piano and I don't know how good I'll get but no matter what my piano "career" will always start with "one day I found these amazing, crazily-talented group of people called The Piano Guys"......no matter what happens please keep making music and I speak for a lot of people when I say that your music charms our hearts and brings joy into our lives. You have always made music seemingly with one purpose and that was to bring joy to others, you definitely did and I hope you always will!
