So far I think its a really fun game but the Switch version has framedrops sadly! Is the ps4 version better?

I grew up watching the Smurfs ( big fan! ). This looks wonderful.. it makes my inner child happy :). Thank you for your review. I'll be getting it on the PS5. Hopefully it'll run better there than on the Switch.

This game was amazing I got 100 per cent completion it’s definitely not just for kids 10/10 well done team loved this game

I'm definitely not the target audience for this game, but it could be something fun to play with younger kids at a family get together. The last Smurf game I played was on the Colecovision and that was dope back in the day. Great review!

Seeing that smurf die in the colecovision game traumatised my young self lol i hated messing up and seeing him just check out.

Traded Kao the Kanguru for this one and I am having tons of Fun. So relaxing. But now I am missing Kao. Might have to pick It up again. Marsupilami and Smurfs were 2 gems.

Glad you like our game it’s really a smurf tastic game like the old Smurfs video game on SNES NES Sega genesis game boy NES and PlayStation

Was a fan of the original 80s smurfs as a kid. Looks like a fun game to check out on a sale, but I'll play it on PlayStation.

Thank you for this review! I like your lively voice :) I bought this game on GoG and at least on the PC it runs very smooth. I found some minor glitches though but none of them were gamebreaking. I think this game is a lot of fun, even for an over 30 years old guy like me (and I'm not the only one there)! It's a solid, nice 3D platformer and it really feels "Smurfy" all around :) Did the tripple-sized tank work for you? When I've bought it, it didn't seem to make any difference....

Thanks Ben I'm glad that you enjoyed the game! It was really nice to see a developer take advantage of the property they had. I felt like they did a great job despite the Switch version not being up to snuff which isn't all that much of a surprise. Maybe that was another glitch you ran into with the tank?

Thank you for your answer. I have a buddy via GoG and he played this game too and also ran into this problem. After that upgrade, you have 3 circles next to your fuel gauge. But it doesn't help, only the first circle changes its color and then you have to wait for the device to reload again. But the game is still playable with this issue. Maybe we're doing something wrong

I agree 100% with your review. I loved this game on PC so I wanted a portable version and got it for Switch. That was a big mistake. The framerates were abysmal to the point I almost got motion sickness. There aren't many games I outright deleted because they were just unplayable. Microids should have never released this for Switch. They should have added a "Performance" mode like on Unravel 2 which gives the user the option to prioritize framerate over graphics. I would have gladly traded a little less shadowing and anti-aliasing for a smoother experience. Even for an average person, I think you will notice the horrible jank in this game. Which is a shame because it's an awesome game.

agreed! I could tell this game had so much potential! it was just not meant to run on the Switch it seems 🙁

@@IDreamofIndie Yes! I'm hoping for a Switch 2 with better hardware and maybe I'll come back and revisit this game. If you do have access to a PC I'd pick it up because it looks absolutely gorgeous on a machine that can run it. Took me back to my childhood, haha.

I just bought the game. it's mostly for my 5-year-old son. I don't think the framerate will affect his experience much but I do hope they fixed it 2 years after its release.

While it’s been a long time since I’ve seen or played anything related to The Smurfs, I’m surprised to see how well this one has come out, given how video games related to other media can be hit or miss. It’s a shame about the performance issues but hopefully they can be fixed up later. I’ll have to keep an eye on this. Thanks for the review.

Kinda striking to see this coming out at the same time as Popeye. This certainly doesn’t look perfect, but Popeye is an obvious disaster in every respect. This at least looks like a real, professional game by comparison

Yeah it actually is really neat I would just advise playing on another platform!

Put it on easy for younger players, lololol. Games back in the day were hard and you had to get good.
