First the Smurfs, now Marsupilami. I wish I were a kid again!

This was one of my all time favorite Saturday morning cartoons as a kid, so I was pretty excited when I saw this in the store.

You have one of the best channels for switch stuff and you deserve a lot more subscribers. Keep up the good work my friend

Omg this brings back memories. It's actually a comics!!! And I had all 3 marsipulami plushies (yellow, black, spotted yellow/black) and I went to France to buy a 1.5m (5feet?) marsipulami! Its tail was like 7 feet!! I still have the huge marsipulami (in my closet because it's too big). 😬😬 too bad I can't post a picture haha

It’s quite the fusion of inspiration. Most of it is 2010s Donkey Kong Country style, but a bit of 2010s Rayman as well haha. The Rayman parts is when they hang on the rings, wall jump or how the auto scrolling bosses work. Then you have the secret wormhole locations to do these dojo challenges is very similar to the secret cage locations in Rayman. Then the rolls, precise jumping, enemy style, the level design is all really DKC. I swear these guys really nailed the best of both worlds!

An unexpected surprise that I’ll be buying tomorrow! I remember the Disney show in the 90’s

Yup. That was my favorite version of Marsupilami.

Never seem the Cartoon, but I will buy this. It is like DK and Bubsy had an slightly above average baby. Works for me.

I had a Marsupilami game back on the Genesis.

I used to watch the cartoon show back in the early 90s here in North America. I loved to cartoon.

Marsupilami was a huge cartoon when I was a kid.

Awesome! I loved the comics as a kid! My cat is even named after a character from the comics! Buying this ASAP as a Christmas gift for my 8 year old daughter! Thanks for the review!

It has 60% sale right now so very tempted 😀 as a kid I was a huge fan of comics and had a badass marsupulami plush

I vaguely remember this as a Saturday morning cartoon as a child. I wanna say it was an off shoot of another cartoon. Sort of like how the Garfield cartoon had the farm parts. Looks cool for a short run through though!

I do enjoy some 2D platformers, and it’s nice to hear that this isn’t Donkey Kong level of difficult, because I know I’d get frustrated quickly. I really think those visuals and gameplay seem really solid too. I think given the fluctuating frame rate and the shorter length, I’ll probably wait for a sale before possibly picking it up. Thanks for the review.

I hope that is a working title because it certainly is a mouthful. I think it needs a little more content for me to jump into a new platformer.

I was reading the Wikipedia entry for Joe and Mac (as one does), and after a few hops wound up learning about this game's existence. This is all so freakin' weird! I never knew Marsupilami was so huge in Europe (I thought it was just some failed Disney thing), and I never expected it to get a game this put-together. I'll have to give it a go sometime.

The reason is cause its originaly not a Disney property. Disney only saw how popular it was in Asian, European and African countries and decided to bring their own version into the west. The Disned version has nothing to do with Marsupilami but I still like it a little bit.

@@SwitchCorner yep, I've been looking at it guiltily every time i get on deku deals, because i know ill absolutely love it

it really doesnt matter if a game is easier to include kids. if its a 3d platformer( mario odessey, a hat in time, yooka laylee, crash bandicoot to a degree) or a 2d platformer (this game with a wierd title, donkey kong games, 2d mario) i'll enjoy it if it is of good quality.

The game is actually surprisingly fun. It's really short but is pretty well made, and reminds me of Mario and Rayman a little bit. It's fun, not the game of the millenium, but pretty fun. I was pleasantly surprised.

When I bought Marsupilami on Sega Genesis/Mega Drive years ago, I had no clue that it was a cartoon. I thought it was an original Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game.

Looks really cool but 2 hours gameplay for £35? I don't think you can forgive that saying that it's made for a younger audience. Games like Kirby, Mario, Yoshi etc are accomodating for a younger audience too, and typically offer 10-20 hours of gameplay. Making a short game is fine but they should at least price it accordingly.

Well Microids has a few other license games. There's Asterix and Obelix: Slap Them All, an arcade beatemup, and the currently released Smurfs: Mission Vileaf. Hopefully one of their games might have better value per playtime. This one looks fun but an on sale kind of thing.

I'm disappointed it isn't more like the original. The Genesis/Megadrive one you had to select different tools and it would change your tail. So one level you ahd to guide his elephant buddy. So you change your tail into stairs for cliffs or a bridge for pits. You could even shape your tail like a mouse to scare things away. This one is just a run of the mill platformer. The cartoons were always about how he used his tail as a tool but this one is just for a few basic things.

Best game I've played.

Not a fan of 2D platformers, but I might just have to get this one. I quite enjoyed the comics when I was young. 😊

When you talked about the sound and the music of the game, you could've provided some examples to the viewers. This way it's just ~10 minutes of talking over generic music with seemingly random gameplay playing in the background. Otherwise it's a solid review in my opinion.

Short lenght and lack of boss fights is the only minus in this otherwise superb platformer.

Funny enough i heard about this character because i used to watch the Disney adaption in the 90’s, so i was a bit intrigued to hear about this game P.S. 5:40 the blot of color you mentioned are the bonus areas in each level hope that helps

Nope. They had the rights to make their own version of him in the 90s to bring him over to the west. The original Belgien version is the one the rest of the world grew up with.

I’m gonna guess you didn’t watch the whole video, right in the middle I call out frame rate and where it’s fluctuating consistently - 45 - 60, it varies a lot

@@SwitchCorner it is very briefly mentioned at one point in the middle of the video but it is not obvious from how you say it that the result is disastrous when you play the game. It should be more clearly highlighted, in my opinion, that it is a big red flag and a reason why you should not buy the game. fps instability in platformers is simply not possible.

Marsupilami is one character, not several. Your description states he is several characters. 'Hoobadventure' is just a subtitle. Also, Marsupilami is incredibly popular in French-speaking places like Quebec, Belgium, Switzerland, etc., not necessarily blanket-popular across all of Europe. This new cutesy redesign of the character is hideous though.

The marsupilami bit is from the eshop description as I didn’t know the character, it says on the eshop and microids description was that Punch, Twister and Hope are three Marsupilamis. Same thing with the name on the eshop, it’s listed as Marsupilamis hoobadventure. Im not sure if the style is a design for the game directly or potentially a new run of the series?

Donkey Kong Returns clone!?

Another Ugly sonic mishap. André Franquin would be rolling in his grave. This is a horrid disregard for the original character design.

I really do not understand why you keep calling it 2D when it's obviously 3D sidescroller game.
