The Senseless Case of Bradley Perry

Bradley Perry had picked up an extra shift in order to save money for his upcoming wedding. Unfortunately, he would be killed during that over night shift and it would take 20 years to solved the murder.

It begs the question "how hairy can one's nipples become?" I don't think I want to know the answer. I was pondering that when the stock image of inches long hairs in tweezers came up. It may require a note that it wasn't from the actual nipples in question. 🤣🤣

There is a lot of true crime content on KZread but TIM is consistently of a high standard. A little bit of background: Logan to Brigham City is about 30 miles and takes you through Sardine Canyon, which is heavily forested and gets a lot of snow. From there, it's about a 10 minute drive from Brigham to Willard/Perry. In the 80's, Ogden and SLC were about thirty miles apart with not a whole lot of city in between, but now, it's like one giant suburb connecting the two, with Layton in the middle. It's also not desert. It's very green from Logan to SLC. Only when you hit Price to Moab do you get the desolation, and into Green River. Utah is also the most absurdly easy state to navigate. It's streets are mostly numbered from main and center streets outward like a grid.

Ugh. I am always so disturbed by cases like these. Where a completely innocent person(s) is just living their life, and then they are swooped up by incomprehensible evil and forced into a living nightmare filled with terror and horrible pain, all before dying. It shakes me to my core. I sometimes feel my stomach turn when if I think too much about what the victim(s) was feeling/thinking in their final moments. Listening to true crime is a favorite past time of mine, but sometimes it's important to step away from it for brief (or not so brief) intervals in the interest of managing my own mental health. But sometimes it's too late. It was just last year when I learned all the horrible details of the Channon Christian and Chris Newsom murders as well as the Wichita Massacre. To this day, I still experience distressing thoughts about these crimes at various times. Sometimes when I am trying to fall asleep. Other times when I am just doing mindless work at the office. Or driving. It's been etched into my brain. I'm not saying I have PTSD because of it. But I absolutely have intrusive thoughts about these murders that interfere in with my overall sense of contentment at times. Not every day, and not even regularly, but I have these thoughts and I wish I didn't. So be careful out there, folks!

I agree wholeheartedly. Police officers see things that the public cannot fathom, and they are expected to just “ deal with it” as part of the job. But they are still human beings and I can only imagine the trauma, no matter how much they think they are “ dealing with it”. I could never in a million years do what they do. Much love and respect to all police and EMT’s. And for our military and medical personnel as well.

Same with the case workers from places like child/adult protective services. At least in the cases of police, their job allows them to do something- it's actually the job to gather evidence and find what happened to sort of "solve" it so there's some justice. The reason the turnover rate is so high for case workers is because not only are they constantly having to witness horrible cases of abuse and neglect but most often, protocol dictates that they go through a chain of proper procedure. They may have to continue to witness it for weeks or months before anything is done and in some cases, they get denied to be able to act and help the person they're supposed to be helping.

I was a kid, on my way home from Logan the day after the murder, passing the gas station with surrounding police cars. I found out just days later from my parents that it was a murder scene. It was a shock to learn that a screwdriver was the murder weapon. It stayed in the back of my mind until I found out 20ish years later that they finally found the murderer.

Mental health seems to be a major issue in law enforcement. I seen where 3 current and 1 former LAPD officers unalived themselves in the same week, either last month or in the passed couple months. I only seen it because i was looking at the gun violence website that shows the many people who die from gun violence everyday, even if it's on themselves. Never heard about it in the news. People just unhappier than ever, it's from a lack of connection and lack of real relationships with people in my opinion, and it's only getting worse.

@joshthemediocre7824 Can I ask you a question please? I've seen the term "unalive themselves" a few times lately, only on youtube comments. Curious term, I thought, perhaps trying to move away from the old term of "killed themself", with implied violence rather than despair? But, when suicide is no longer considered an individual/family stigma, and is almost referred to as "taking one's own life", I don't understand this attempt at re-naming , and it seems more negative and less empathetic, especially with the immediate connection to "un-dead", which is dehumanising.

The term (and others like it) was coined by social media users as a way to fool algorithms on sites and apps that censor posts containing violent content.
