@@tanner.leatherstein My hope is that Ubrique can come out of the shadows on the global scale that luxury brands have. I'd rather buy direct than pay for branding. The luxury brands abandoned the town in crisis so the only fair outcome is for them to create an independent industry comprised of their own brands without a middleman. With the support of those with a platform such like yourself, they can reach the quality minded consumers who would support them in droves. Let's make "Made in Ubrique Spain" as known and respected as the Made in Italy label. They deserve to receive credit for their expert craftsmanship.

Im Spanish and this is not news to us. Ubrique has the best craftsmanship of leather. The reason is the whole town is working on this craft and skills are transferred from family members. Many big brands will make orders of the samples of the bags to Ubrique which are the most difficult to make and then send the sample bag to Asia to replicate. They are all small family factories, not big corporations and it is very secretive because they must sign non disclosure agreements with the brands. If every bag they made for big brands had the made in Ubrique or made in Spain seal, then buyers wouldnt be looking for made in france tags lol

This is partly why I only buy preowned luxury bags. I refuse to give these companies NEW (more) money. Vintage bags are of better quality. And these companies have really just gotten as rotten as any other major corporation. The other reasons why I buy vintage or preowned bags are for cost and the environment. I’m blessed to not have financial constraints but I refuse to pay bogus retail prices to help pay for someone’s rent or to bolster the false scarcity nonsense. As for the environment, fashion is one of the highest industrial polluters. I just can’t reconcile purchasing things that destroy the natural world. Preowned is premade. The damage done. I also only have two luxury bags now. I used to have 50+. I wish more people really thought about what is behind a bag.

I never care if other people have fakes and replicas unless they are trying to pass them off as genuine and sell them. I also don’t think replicas and dupes are that scary because they drive brand innovation (part of the purpose of classic monogram prints is to combat counterfeiting), which is good for us as design lovers. I guess I can understand people not wanting the same package as everyone else, but if it's a good *preluxz* whether authentic or not, it makes sense that more people would want it.

The welcome from the Town and its people was so heartwarming especially when they said 'you are in your house' - reminds me of where I am in the middle east. Refined elegant leather culture and nation. I will be planning a trip to Ubrique. All success to you, God bless.

Loewe is discontinuing its iconic Puzzle bag and will start pushing the Puzzle Edge because the latter is less complex to make (therefore after faster crafting > faster it gets on the store shelves). Which is a really dumb move because Loewe literally has pages on their website telling us about their "commitment to the craft".

This is so inspiring to watch - the story and former of this is very compelling as well. I highly doubt that these artisans are getting paid what they deserve from the bigger brands, but it’s so refreshing to see that people still do what they are passionate about, and take their time to perfect it. I really like your bag cutting content, but this is so refreshing to watch. Thank you for going to the lengths you did to bring this to us.

I guess its related to maybe brands manufacturing new designs? They probably have top secret bags they haven’t released and dont want people to see before they arrive at their shop… it makes sense they dont want someone to see so that they end up getting copied and manufactured somewhere else to sell as fakes. I mean those bags are expensiveee imagine being able to get hold of a lv design thats not on the market yet.

Thank you very much for coming to Spain, my country, and for making this beautiful video of Ubrique. Also, thank you for recognizing these leather artisans. This business is the livelihood of many families in the area. In Spain, we are well aware of the quality of products from this region of Andalusia. It's a shame that it doesn't receive the international recognition it deserves. I hope that with this video, people will get to know the products they offer. There are several shoe and accessory brands that I buy in Spain that are made in Ubrique and are spectacular. One is Barada Bags, and the other is Gloria Ortiz. I mention both brands in case you want to review them. I also want to mention that shoes made in the Elche area (Alicante) are well-known, and they are also crafted by very skilled artisans. We look forward to welcoming you back to Spain soon; you know my home is your home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
