I got a theory. Seeing that the Wall titans seem to be facing inwards, could it be that the wall titans, if freed, are actually rigged so that if Marley would even attack and break the walls, the Eldians in the wall would be stomped to death. The feeling passed down by the king might not be pacifism, but might be Nihilism. He might share the same sentiment that the previous wielder of the beast titan had, that its not really worth living as an eldian. So, if the inevitable came, and the walls break, the Wall titans would awaken, and crush all the people living in the walls.

@meme He probably didnt want to kill his own people, he may be Nihilistic, but he was not Genocidal. So he just isolated them from the world in Paradis. And if conflict ever came, that means the outsiders now have technology that surpasses the Titan power, so it would be a losing fight. So, instead of letting his people suffer a slow demise at the hands of outsiders, he would end the conflict as quickly as possible with the Wall Titans.

The titans in the king’s era or before that are not the same as today’s titan. Titans back them werent mindless titans, they were used in wars and participated in wars meaning they are capable enough to be in wars so they know who their ally and enemy is. How to implement strategies and such. The titans back then were made by some super natural power thats why they are just like regular humans but now the titans we see are made from a royalty’s spinal fluid and it’s not a great method to turn eldians into titans thats why they become mindless. The titans built bridges and stuff like theyve mentioned and since the titans in the wall were titans back in the kink’s era they are prob as intelligent as humans and not those mindless titans and also thats why most of the mindless titans are deformed because they were made from a small amount of spinal fluid. If you’re pregnant and you don’t eat what you are suppose to for your baby to be healthy then your baby will most likely be deformed or unhealthy.

@@vince5572 not necessarily. Remember, the Titans "back then" were ruled by the Founding Titan. The Founding can literally control any Titan, except for the Shifters. They don't have to be intelligent, they just have to be under the power of the Founding Titan.

Anime uproar at 6:53 you said that the original king felt bad for all the bad deeds his ancestors have done so he took as many eldians as possible and went to the island for a pacifist lifestyle. If he’s saying he feels bad he’s most likely referring to all the other nations like Marley. So if he’s the king you’d think he would know the actual history behind the titans, so I think Marley might be right about Ymir and the devil. Even if you look at all the pictures of Ymir and the one she did the deed with, he’s portrayed as as a titan like figure with horns. What “God” looks like that? He’s probably the devil and that is probably the reason why there are mindless titans. As the other Ymir said that being a mindless titan was like being in purgatory or a type of hell. Whenever someone makes a deal with the devil there’s always a drawback. You get power but in return you have to worship him or one of you family members must die. But in Attack on titan the drawback would be being a mindless titan, and having no control whatsoever. It’s like a curse inside of a blessing I guess.

They where children when Ymir died. The image shown in intro displays politicians around them, that's perhaps where the thing got messy. King Fritz avoid those politicians and their ruling by establishing his realm in Paradis. I THINK I KNOW WHY THE WALL WAS REALLY BUILT AND NAMED AFTER YMIR'S DAUGHTERS. The walls weren't made to keep eldians in away from everyone. It was to keep people out! Paradise island is special, there's been huge hints about what's underneath the island. I think that's where Ymir discovered the titan power. The basement arc explained that the king titan wasn't the only thing marley wanted. They wante the "special resources" under the island the most. Then we learn from the mainland arc that the taybar royal family are basically eldian librarians. They know lots of secrets, and willie taybar was the one who secretly gave marley the orders to attack. He also told them about the special resources. Now if you read the spin off manga, Attack on titan: Before the fall. It's set 75 years before the series srarts/25 years after the walls were built and the mind wipe. It showed how the 3D gear and swords were made. They were made from the weird special resources underneath the island. They showed where they got the gas from, it's in a deep underground cave. The gas looks like ice and it's twice as good as regular gas, it's a super gas. The swords/cables/hooks are made from special mutated bamboo trees. Something deep underground made the bamboo hella durable, harder than steal(sound familiar), and sharp as hell. Paradise is a magical place. Having the memories of Ymir must have revealed this to the 145 king. A secret that only Ymir knows about. As people have said, the wall titans are facing in word not out word. I believe they are guardians of the island and are protecting whatever's deep within the island. I'm guessing it's whatever Ymir discovered or encountered. You have the guardians, the walls named after her daughters, and the king sitting in the very center. Then we have the wall cult who's building of worship is located in the royal district. The wall cult never had their memories messed with so they know the truth. From the start I was getting heavy Evangelian vibes from attack on titan. I honestly believe there is a being burried deep in the island right under the center wall area under the king. It's what's causing all of these strange "special resources" under the island. The series is obviously based on ancient European myths/religion. Instead of an angel being down there like in Evangelian. I think it's an actual titan! Not just any titan, I think it's Chronos. The king of the titans. It would explain the whole memories across time thing. Ymir is clearly bult around jesus. Her dying(i think marley killed her), People eating her flesh, drinking her blood/spinal fluid, her 9 apossles(however it's spelled), them spreading her gospel, titan resurrection abilities, etc etc...

Wow! This is a great theory, I'm convinced that this is the true story line and will be revealed in coming chapters. On another hand, I have a small question that may not be relevant. The Titan that was revealed to be in the wall was facing inward while the illustration of when the walls were created show the titans facing outward towards the world, do you Think this matters at all?

Interesting theory. I’m still just a little confused because there is an abundance of resource known as the ice burst stone which has given huge technological advancements for the walldians after historias father was defeated. If Karl Fritz wanted to protect the eldians for as long as possible, building your haven on an island full of resource that other nations would’ve actively invaded for doesn’t make too much sense. Especially so once you understand that the marleyan military spearheaded by the tyburs actually knew that Karl Fritz’s pacifism would prevent the holder from using the power of the founding titan regardless of their true intentions. Basically he f*cked the eldians with that vow UNLESS he also knew that it would force a usurper to take control of the power because Marley knew the truth and would one day invade the walls. This would also explain why the colossal titans in the walls really needed to exist because the usurper can effectively protect the island and their people.

They were made to protect them so he made a warning of who dares destroy the wall will fell the collosal titans wrath

I think it’s super weird that we all accepted that they said like “oh the walls were erected 100 years ago to save us from the Titans” those fucking walls are so massive they’d take 100 years each if it weren’t for the founding titan.

If you read the manga then you'll find out it's only the Attack Titan who can view the future memories of the Attack Titan's holders.

I remember Karpov (a chess grandmaster) said "The Threat is stronger than its Execution" that's how these dormant Titans become a deterrent against other nations, Should they break the wall, the wall fights back. Unlike in clash of clans they are entirely passive.

it's really complicated... all the holders of founding titan says that Eldians are sinners and they should die, but there are 3 walls protecting them. The titans of walls are facing the inside of the walls so if they are released then it's the Eldians end. Also the statue of that soldier killing a titan remind me of Gabi when she cut eren's head, could it be that Eren is actually dead?
