Yeah the overseas thing got it for me if it's coming from America, at least it has some standards. If they're getting it frozen from another country with lower standards, that's kind of shady because ground beef already has a lot of fecal matter in it apparently and I'm not too worried about the bacteria cuz you do cook it out. But just think of all the metal shavings or Small pieces of plastic whatever they didn't catch cuz they're not checking the The beef or if there's butchering sick and dying animals or how long they let the meat just sit there before they froze it I think I'll be investing in a meat grinder after watching this

@@johnboy11652 any sick animals are already dead and that beef is usually turned to dog food and it is still cooked and cleaned very well there also there isn’t any metal coming from the overseas because the meat is in the US and the USDA prevents metals from entering the processing plant so it is taken out as soon as it enters the plant

This makes sense if you are selling beef in bulk. Butchers did this all the time back in the day . The old German butchers would do it as a way to conserve meat and not lose money on cuts of beef that were undesirable or got old and didn’t sell, that’s why it’s called hamburger. They sold it for cheap, which is why ground beef became so popular. Poor people who couldn’t afford premium cuts could afford ground beef. This is similar to how Brisket became so popular, it was a tough piece of meat and undesirable. However immigrants, minorities, and the poor (especially farmers) could afford it and that’s why it’s popular among barbecue enthusiasts.

I worked at a meat facility where we did make hamburger and parts of this are true like the amount of cows however the meat is separated by grade of cow so there may only be 50-100 cows per grade and 2000lbs a bin. Imported meat is only used in low quality beef most of your premium and medium grade beef company’s use 100% American beef

Whats the difference betwen 1 cow and 1000 cows in a burger? Why does grinding your own mean better? You cant just say "they started grinding all of it at once" and expect that to mean anything

not here in new zealand-butchers are local, and they have their own butcher in the supermarkets. i’m sure even in the US you’d be able to find a butcher. if not buy a cheaper cut and mince it yourself, it’s fun and easy.

It's always a bad idea to centralize. Otherwise, they aren't doing anything uniquely wrong. It's just that when bacteria does grow, it will hurt way more people and be impossible to track. Which is perfect for large companies.

This is why it is important to buy local, that way you know where the meat is from. This is why i buy organic, or just 100 percent grass fed, some people don't care what they put in their bodies, regular mass produced meat has added hormones an antibiotics an or other chemicals in the meat.
