THE SAS | 1987 PETERHEAD PRISON RAID | EPIC SPECIAL FORCES MISSION

Ойын-сауық

When the most violent criminals in Britain went toe to toe with the SAS.
THE SAS | 1987 PETERHEAD PRISON RAID | EPIC SPECIAL FORCES MISSION
On the 2nd of Oct 1987, a riot erupted at HMP at Peterhead, Scotland. Hundreds of prisoners rioted against the prison warders and took one officer as hostage. There was a clear threat to life.
This is the inside story of how the SAS were called in to stamp out the riot. Were they too eager in teaching the rioting prisoners a lesson they would not forget?

I was in the jail and 4 prisoners came to HMP Craiginches from Peterhead ,1 was a wee prick tbh and he was the only one who really talked about what happened, the SAS battered the shite out them and from what I could gather was it’s a hard world and you play with fire your gonna get burned come time . The other couple of guys were sound and one helped me play guitar a bit better, he or the rest of the sound ones barely mentioned it . The SAS didn’t fu.k about for sure and Jackie “red alert “ Stuart 😂he was up Aberdeen on the remand halls seeing out his days in relative peace ✌️

Hi mate from Kiwiville. The SAS as you would expect (esp if you were one of the chosen FEW) are there to do their alotted task, take no casualties, BATTER anyone who manages to hit one of their lads and generally to NOT fk about, do the bizzo and be Home and Dry for tea. (AS you would I suppose.)

As an ex con (ashamed of it) I agree. Most cons, especially the repeat offenders are exactly that. Bullies. I didn't mind doing my time but I despised most of the other prisoners. There are some decent people that end up inside due to their poor choices or circumstances that went out of control, but the majority? I wouldn't give them the time of day.

As a Canadian and aware of Canada’s Special Forces, I have to be very impressed in the very short time it took this storied unit to put an end to the siege. Here in Canada with a rather small military as it is becoming more and more difficult to recruit, our Special Forces are relied upon domestically and abroad. From what I know about the different units, each providing a special skill set to apply in those situations they are called upon to handle. They have had enormous success and are recognized around the world as “Very Special Forces”. My hats off to the famous and very competent SAS as they are responsible for doing jobs unsuitable for 99.999 of the rest of the world. Enough said!🇨🇦🇬🇧

And the time available to prevent a disaster was very short. Even in namby-pamby UK, Special forces are much more covert and integrated these days, and times and tactics have moved on. Other specialists are equally capable, and you never know when they're around.

I lived in Hereford. love to recall the story of an SAS guy walking back from a night on the beer to camp, when he called into a chip shop. Stood in the queue, 3 "hard" men cruised in and pushed to the front. An elderly lady asked the 3 to go to the back of the queue. They gave her some verbals. Our hero politely mentioned to the three that the lady had a point and maybe they should do as she asked. At this stage the "hard" man in charge said "yeh and what are you goin' to do about it? , Outside mate" And so they/he did. " 2 hard men in hospital and the third running up Belmont Road in Hereford with a bloody nose, and a nice SAS man getting extra chips! True story. 1970s ish. Our SAS guy I recall got a minor telling off by his OC. I used to drink in Hereford in the 70s. Safe place then with theregiment about!

I heard a similar story in Australia, back in the 70's. The Cadets at the officer training academy, in Canberra, would go to a local pub on a Friday night. A group of Bikies decided to take over the pub and call it their own. The cadets were told that the pub was off limits , temporarily. The following week 2 SAS guys wearing Cadet uniforms went to the pub and naturally the Bikies decided to rough them up. Apparently the Bikies were never seen again and the Cadets could continue to go to the pub , off base, for a bit of R&R. ha ha. It wouldn't happen today because the Woke world would want the SAS guys to be charged.

Im sorry but good as this story is I find it hard to believe. SAS would never have gotten inot a fight with locals as they would have been binned by the Regiment right away, and as for "fangslaughter 1198" above his comments about there crazies in the Regiment, Im afraid that nutters would be weened out and not even get past selection as that is not the type of person they selected to serve, the persons they selected were mainly quiet guys who could go the extra mile for the Unit, and not stand out in any way, could melt into the background, whilst your "nutters" would be kicking off and bringing attention to themselves, so no good for SAS selection. It quite true that in the 70s according to public opinion and the usual pub pisshead, there were thousands of people in the SAS which was a big laugh amongst the SAS lads themselves.

*You're right we need someone to negotiate with terrorists despite continually saying she "would never, ever deal with terrorists"* *Another lying politician* Margaret Thatcher 'negotiated with IRA' Published 30 December 2011 Mr Taylor said the files show Margaret Thatcher was involved in negotiations with the IRA Files just released by the National Archives show Margaret Thatcher took part in negotiations with the IRA during the 1981 Hunger Strikes, BBC investigative journalist Peter Taylor has said. The contacts took place through an MI6 officer and a secret back-channel to the IRA code-named Soon. Soon was Londonderry businessman Brendan Duddy. Mr Taylor said Mrs Thatcher altered by hand one statement sent to the IRA. "When I read these documents I was astonished," he said. "I think that they are revelatory and of genuine historical importance because they give lie to all sorts of assumptions that were made incorrectly about the Hunger Strikes and the relationship between the government and the IRA. "These documents spell it out large that Mrs Thatcher was involved in negotiations with the IRA." The documents contain details of eight phone calls between the MI6 officer and Mr Duddy during the weekend from 4 July to 6 July 1981. Among the proposals coming from IRA prisoners was that senior republican Martin McGuinness, now Northern Ireland's deputy first minister, be allowed in to see them in the Maze. This was turned down by the government. "That was all to do with the government's insistence, Mrs Thatcher's insistence, that she did not negotiate with terrorists, she did not and would not negotiate with the IRA. "The documents clearly indicate that that was nonsense, that was going on all the time behind the scene."

These men had committed an act of riot and had taken hostages in the process and it must be remembered they had injured the Prison Officer and made threats to set him alight. The SAS were sent in to end the situation inside the Jail and rescue the hostage, which they did in double quick time.Did they use excessive force, No, they did what they are trained to do. I had the pleasure of meeting Rusty Firmin a couple of yrs ago ( SAS member involved in the Iranian embassy siege in London ) in New Brighton Merseyside. I'd read articles about the man in my early twenties and admired him and the other SAS lads. He was polite but quiet , respectful and a gentleman. When people who kill innocent people and take hostages start complaining about how they were treated by the SAS they should just remember, they're not gentlemen, they are cowards and deserve nothing , they lost that right through there own actions. Not all prisoners are bad people, and i understand they deserve legal representation, but these ' bullies and murderers' stfu and consider yourselves lucky. ❤SAS + SBS ✌️

"trained to tickle the threats they face"* ??? *Does that include kiddies* ? Dead Hereford SAS hero John McAleese was facing child porn probe IRANIAN Embassy SAS hero John McAleese was fighting a secret extradition battle to bring him back to the UK to face child porn allegations before his death last month. Bookmark SHARE ByJeanette OldhamInvestigations editor 10:05, 18 SEP 2011UPDATED15:51, 24 OCT 2012 IRANIAN Embassy SAS hero John McAleese was fighting a secret extradition battle to bring him back to the UK to face child porn allegations before his death last month. McAleese, from Hereford, became a national hero in 1980 after millions of TV viewers watched him blast open a window so his elite unit could storm the embassy building in London. Five terrorist gunmen were killed during the 17-minute raid and all 26 hostages saved. Last month the 61-year-old SAS veteran died of a suspected heart attack in Thessaloniki, Greece, where he had been living. His family said he passed away in his sleep the day before the second anniversary of the death of his soldier son, Paul. But a three-week Sunday Mercury investigation has discovered that McAleese had been locked in an extraordinary legal battle with the country for whom he once fought so valiantly. The former decorated soldier, who guarded three Prime Ministers during a distinguished career, spent the last year of his life refusing to return to the UK to answer allegations that he had downloaded child pornography. McAleese was photographed fighting back tears at his son’s funeral at Hereford Cathedral on September 14, 2009. Just four days later he was arrested and questioned by West Mercia Police officers on suspicion of downloading indecent images of children to his home computer in 2007. He was released and bailed until a later date. McAleese is understood to have attended the police station by appointment. Sources who knew him say he had been previously contacted by British police as early as 2007, and had promised to speak to them when he returned to the UK. After the questioning, McAleese returned to Greece where he was living with his second wife. But he failed to answer his next bail appointment and when police contacted him in Greece he is said to have refused to return to the UK. The authorities then began formal proceedings aimed at trying to bring McAleese back to Britain. Inquiries by this paper have confirmed that a hearing to obtain an international warrant for his arrest took place at Hereford Magistrates Court on March 17, 2010. Magistrates approved the move and it is believed the warrant was sent to the Greek authorities around last November. Senior legal sources have confirmed that extradition papers in McAleese’s name were prepared.
