Yess been waiting for this. Overall, I think the trailer was better than my expectations. I especially liked Dream's actor, he actually looks like Morpheus. Hopefully they won't mess it up like American Gods...

Netflix doesn't have the rights to use John so I think they're gonna have Jenna Coleman play both Johanna Constantine and her descendant Joanna.

I absolutely LOVED The Sandman! A beautiful show. And the actor who played Sandman did an absolutely amazing job!!

John Constantine is my absolute favorite DC character so turning him into a dark haired woman does piss me off a bit. Other than that tho, it looks spot on.

The rights to John Constantine are currently with Bad Robot for a TV reboot that JJ Abrams is working on - so Netflix can't use the character. That's also why the character was missing from the last season of Legends of Tomorrow.

As much as I like this actress, I was kinda eager to see the John from the comic book. I won't hate this character in advance, but yes, that's a tiny bummer. Wonder if they changed his/her plotline in the series, too.

@@StoryDive No, it IS a copyright issue. The showrunner and Gaiman have explicitly said as much. So, it's pointless for anyone to get their panties wadded up over it. I would prefer they swapped Johanna for John, rather than just not make the show because of copyright fuckery.

Wonder why they changed so much of the astatic, when we have many book depicting their appearances. It's just gonna make emersion harder for the already fans of the story. Desire looks exactly like the their comic book version though, which is great at least. I hope they fixes Morpheus' eyes, at least. Human eyes just look weird on the character.

This show looks great and is using one of my names as the title so that doublely awesome lol

Why Johanan? Same reason we prolly won't see Martian Manhunter and Mr. Miracle

They could t get the right to Constantine that’s why they had to change the character.

looks cool.....BUT they neglected one of the biggest parts of the entire mythos of almost every character in this, all the big players in the story, including john, are "nexus beings" (i know thats a marvel thing but i cant for the life of me remember what the DC equivalent is), meaning through the multiverse, there is only one version of all of them. (EG, multiple "hells" throughout the multiverse, but only one lucifer to rule them all.) by changing them so much, they are creating a whole new version of them, that just isnt consistent with their mythos.

You do know that Nexus beings can take on different forms too. Being a nexus character doesn’t bar them from changing farm.

@@stapuft there is a black version and even a cat version of Morpheus in the comics, and I imagine that since they are not really people but concepts, the Endless aren't bound to any one form.

Sigh...I still wonder why Netflix does so many gender-bender of characters I love so much in the comic books. Can't they just make a faithful adaptation because that is what I was hoping for in a live-action.

My guess is that they went for Johanna Constantine due to wanting a pat on the back for being PC and copyright issues. Remember, Sandman is owned by DC Comics, which is owned by Warner Media. That company wants to do a reboot of the Constantine series. Netflixs probably couldn't get the rights to him without paying some sort of fee, and just went with his ancestor instead. The latter is completely understandable, albeit annoying, but the latter makes makes my eyes roll. I'm all for representation. But do it for the right reasons and write a fleshed out character instead of throwing together one just for the brownie points.

I wonder why they decided to set this in modern day, despite a lot of the social issues that the series tackles being more relevant in the 80's when the comic takes place. Being relatable is kinda bullshit, because there's really no reason to try and be relatable when you're telling a story of cosmic proportions. I don't like that the Endless look normal. The series makes it clear that they set themselves apart regardless of how they choose to appear because of their very nature. I don't see this show lasting all that long, either way. Netflix generally destroys everything it touches.

Another series with tremendous potential that was destroyed because of political correctness !! How did they take a black actress to the role of death ?! In the comics she is as white as snow! And John Constantine became a woman. I'm going to boycott this series, good thing I saw the trailer in time. I will not let this ruin my comic book experience

They didn't have the copyright to John Constantine, so they swapped him for a relative of his, it's not a genderbend. And death has also been Asian in the comics, Morpheus has been black and even a cat, for God's sake. The Endless are abstract concepts and appear to humans as humans simply because that's the form humans are familiar with. Just admit that you have a race problem and move on.
