The Royal Enfield Classic 350 Goes to Northumbria Episode 3 - Exploring the wall.

In this week’s episode Ivy, The Royal Enfield Classic 350 explores Hadrian’s Wall.
It was the last time I saw the famous Sycamore Tree at Sycamore Gap. Shortly after it was cut down in a senseless act of vandalism.
Ivy found a lovely little gated lane where we had an encounter with some young bulls. Thankfully they must have been biker-bulls and let us pass without incident.
Grab your cuppa, turn the heating up, sit back and enjoy some summertime riding.
Ride safe, Dave.

the Sycamore is the perfect metaphor for the state of the country. Just relieved the country there isn't covered in windmills. Just beautiful.

The wall starts at Bowness on Solway, quite near where I live, although there are various mile castles part the way down the coast.

I ride these roads all the time. Great to see them in summer on this January Saturday. The road you described as 'epic' gets even more epic after the point where you turned around. Never mind, there is plenty of lovely scenery and empty roads up here.

You need good old fashioned crash bars on your bike. You never get lost on a bike, you are just finding new roads. The bulls are saying Look at the man on the funny looking horse.😂😂

A lovely girl that Ivy! 😄 Thanks for your video, thats the sort of bike and riding I would love. I just need to scrape some funds together. Good to hear that it's ok kept in a cover outside with a bit of care, as I don't have a garage unfortunately. It's great to know that in this day and age you can still have the enjoyment of a brilliant simple bike to go on adventures like this, and it's so cheap to run and reliable. It's like holding on to something good from a bygone age 😎

Great video Dave, it is beautiful scenery, I am fortunate to have retired there, in fact if you had stuck your hand out as you rode through Whitfield I could have put a cup of coffee in it. BTW. The wall starts at Bowness on Solway. Really enjoying mate, keep them coming.

It's a bit hard to accept two things from this video are no more because of the actions of idiots. Anyway that was as always a cracking video with some lovely little back lanes and a decent bit of weather. Have you managed to take the new bike for a ride yet? Hopefully so. Wishing you all the very best and hopefully see you soon 👍

How do the gated roads work? Gates in the States mean private property.

  • @gillianstapleton7741

Usually, it means that the public road is passing through a farm and the gates are there to keep the grazing livestock contained. The rider or driver is under obligation to close the gates after themselves, go carefully and watch out for the farm animals. I went through one today in Derbyshire.

@gillianstapleton7741 ahh. Ok, makes sense. Public roads here would just divide the private field.

All those 350 should be 500 and that would give them the HP they need. Wouldn't be too hard to do at factory level. A little bit more grunt wouldn't hurt.

The fact that they are only 20 hp is stopping from buying one! I had a GSX250 in 1980 that had 29 hp. I think 35 hp for safety sake is the minimum where I live in west Kent.
