The Royal Enfield Classic 350 Goes to Northumbria Episode 1 - Over the Moors and it's raining!
Ivy, The Royal Enfield Classic 350 embarks on an adventure back in time to explore Northumbria and Hadrian’s Wall.
After a very dry spell, typically the rain came down as I set off north over the moors. Little did we know at the time it would be the last long trip together before Ivy was stolen.
Grab your cuppa, turn the heating up, sit back and enjoy some summertime riding.
Ride safe, Dave.

How do I describe the joy I get out of watching “That Bloke on a Motorbike” riding through such beautiful countryside of my native land? Dave, thank you and thank you. So looking forward to more exceptional rides.
Living in the North East, we have easy access to the best biking roads in England, Dales, York Moors, Northumberland, Lakes. For those who do not come across sheep very often, it the Ewe is on one side of the road and the lamb is on the other, the Lamb WILL run to its mother, no matter what is coming

On sheep - Yes to what you say, but it is even worse than just lambs running to ewes. I operate on the assumption that a sheep is 50-50 likely to try and run under my bike. They do it all the time, and I live right in the region Dave is riding in near Hadrian's Wall where there are many unfenced roads.
Excellent episode Dave, thanks. Lovely areas travelled through. Hope you stop for a brew in St John's Chapel. The lady in my favourite cafe is from Wakey. Cheers. Tom
Brilliant trip that Dave. Northumbria is a great camping destination but from now on I will map out minor roads on way up, taking your lead. Looking forward to your camping spot reveal. Great to see Ivy at her peak.
Ayup Dave - it's Julian from Barnsley with Ivy's double. It's another lovely video mate. I'm very new to biking and therefore put own bike away until it gets warmer! You're making me really miss it now though! That scenery, the open, smooth twisting roads and all the time, that lovely little happy-sounding engine bubbling away in the background.... Oh mate!! 😍 Stay happy, stay warm.
I was on my way to bed when your video popped up. A mesmerising ride through part of the country I have never visited; must change that one day soon. Subscribed and looking forward to the next leg. Thanks.
More lovely roads... thanks for taking us along.
Thanks Dave, a great ride on some of my favourite roads in the North of England. The view from Stang Top is fantastic, I always stop there for a break but it can be a bit breezy. Cheers, Mick
Great roads up in the dales 👌, hope the weather holds, enjoy 😊
Another great video Dave. You are so lucky having such wonderful open countryside on your doorstep, so to speak, and so good and sad at the same time hearing Ivy as background "music". Your videos are so interesting as you point out such ordinary views that most motorists do not even notice. I hope you have a fabulous Christmas and hope it's not too long before you are out and about on your new 'baby'.
I am 51 ,waiting to my cbt after Christmas, hope I pass then in the future with more experience with riding, I would love to do something like this.I love all of this gentlemans videos,I got stabbed in my right eye when I was about 7, and got told I would never be able to ride. but after all going to do it at 51

Hi, it's really good you are about to make your dream come true. When you have your CBT a good way to progress is get a 125 and ride the wheels off it. A lot of people think they are not "real bikes" but they are and can ride the roads like any other bike. I have a BMW R1150RT, it's massive, I enjoy the 350 Enfield so much I never ride it now. Whatever bike you get it's a load of fun. Let me know how the CBT goes. Good luck mate, ride safe, Dave

I only see out of one eye - it has been a life long issue, and I have been riding bikes for the last fifty five years. The only problem I have is doing the life saver glance over my right shoulder before pulling out. I just have to turn my head more and take more care with the mirror. It won't stop you as long as you compensate for the slight disability.
When you left Reeth and came to the right turn for Barnard Castle, if you had gone straight on instead, the road takes you to the famous Tan Hill Inn. Many years ago the inn was used in a tv ad for a certain brand of double glazing with a guy called Ted Moult as the personality. I ride my bike quite often round the Reeth, Tan Hill, Alston areas as it is practically on my doorstep as I live just outside Durham . County Durham, Northumberland and Cumbria have a huge amount of fantastic biking roads with fabulous scenery. Pleased you enjoyed those roads.
Excellent opening episode Dave 👌. Last time I was up that way I visited the final resting place of Hannah Hauxwell, the lone female farmer of Baldersdale who captured many a viewers heart from the TV series A winter to many. So looking forward to these Christmas uploads of yours Dave, all the very best to you and yours 👍🏻

That was one tough lady
Another lovely ride, Dave. 👍 It's a constant joy to see such diverse countryside shoehorned into what is actually a pretty small area - well, compared to here in Oz anyway! 😁

Beautiful. Thank you.
Absolutely brilliant video, Dave. The countryside is stunning. Having your narration along with the views, it absolutely makes me feel like I’m there. The red wagon in the beginning, the sod must have a death wish. No excuse for that kind of recklessness. Do you perhaps have any gps coordinates for where you are? It would be fantastic to look at it from Google Earth. Thanks again for the excellent video, mate. Much appreciated.
I really love your videos and narration. all those stone walls make my back hurt just thinking about how hard it must of been to build them
Another great video Dave really enjoyed that one good to be reminded we did have a bit of summer now and again. I am looking forward to seeing how your new RE with the DNA air filter copes with the hills compared with Ivy hopefully a good improvemnt in torque. You highlighted a(nother) problem that blights todays roads no-one has any patirnce anymore.... Ride safe Martin
Enjoyed the Video, would it be possible to see a picture of Ivy fully loaded up. Thx, have fun and ride safe.

How do you describe that scenery? Wow! that's definitely one of the best rides out you have done, lovely little villages bridges and some great roads. Looking forward to the next part to see if that bloke has finished that wall yet 😂, all the best,Nige.
Wonderful video, such beautiful landscape and the best soundtrack. So sorry to hear about the theft of your Ivy! They’re way more than just bits of metal to us !
Fantastic journey so far Dave, perfect relaxed joyous narration and wonderful views.Looking forward to part 2.😊
Great video as always! It’s fantastic to have these releases in the winter, it cheers you up and makes you think about the trips you can have when the winters over. Looking forward to the next instalment. Sorry to hear about Ivy.
