The Rocky Mountain Lions (Wildlife Documentary) | Real Wild

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

This film follows the story of six mountain lions in the Northern Rockies. When the resident male is killed by hunters, one of the young males gains control. We follow him tour his territory as he establishes himself: defining its boundaries, stalking and hunting the deer herd whilst learning what it means to be an adult male.

There's no sport at all. One cannot even use the lion for food--it's just a trophy on the wall of the hunter. I believe God will judge these so-called hunters who destroy His creatures for nothing at all. God says He will destroy such as these: Rev 11:18 ...and them that fear Your name, small and great; and should destroy them which destroy the earth. This means the earth and everything in it.

It is the sport of sports. Heaven forbid, it shows the ultimate display of courage and guts to be 10 feet, 10 bloody short steps from a wild rampaging killer beast. And to think that the noble hunter has to actually raise the muzzle of his gun before he fires! Do you folks realise how bloody heavy the muzzle of gun is? It's a supreme feat of strength, indeed it is! Can you imagine the training our noble hunter had to undergo in order to achieve such supreme physical fitness? Now the next thing is to aim. Concentration plus cos this huge beast may launch a deadly attack at any time. Then the coup de gras as the index finger, readies itself for that short, sharp pullback. Another feat of strength that can only be matched by someone who has spent countless hours in the gym on the finger walker, the finger rower, the finger cycling machine and the index finger dumbells (yep! I can't help thinking they were named after him). Then there is the kickback to contend with, the training for which involves extensive shoulder strengthening, bone strengthening to prevent a shattered shoulder. Dear Eric Debord, I hope you now understand how a hunter with a gun needs to possess the most supreme of skills and a supreme level of physical fitness to be sure he can kill a nasty, deadly beast at such a short range. May these sportsmen live on to continue completing such incredible feats!

Before anyone else gets upset - I'm sure the 'hunt' at the beginning was a simulation meant for the 'story', and for several reasons ; the men's clothes were obviously brand-new from the costume department, there are no shots of the actual kill, nobody filming such spectacular scenes of a mountain lion running through snow is going to stand around while it gets slaughtered, the dead lion was too stiff to have only just been killed and may even have been stuffed ... Sure enough, in the credits at 49:27 "Captive animals were used in this production." The names of their handlers roll up about 5 seconds before.

It doesn't matter - it's simply an accurate representation of what many people are willing to act like. Hunt it with your own hands if you think you're so tough, I'll allow that - take the risk of losing your own life if you dare to take the life of another. But this method of hunting is utter cowardice and shameful hubris, completely disgusting, juvenile, uninitiated behavior. It doesn't matter if this film crew and the actual individuals depicted here didn't "actually" kill a lion, what matters it that the people who *actually* do this IRL don't deserve to live

Until they started to describe exactly what they saw and I sent them pictures of bobcats and cougars, each one verified cougar. I went into the woods near where it's been seen. Found several cat tracks the size of my palm if not a little bigger. Not far from there I saw him/her. Watching me. Every move I made. Didn't get pictures but majestic. I figured it was just passing through on it's way to a new home. But it could live in this area. 75-150 sq miles here is plenty of food and water sources to keep one.

Small rural towns depend on fishing and hunting. and the wolves killed off the turkey, deer, elk, ect. FINALLY this year, after spending millions, they helicoptered in government hunters.. and killed them all... Because NO BODY else wanted them in their state... Wolves are cool, i agree.. But are in direct conflict with the wants and needs of the MAJORITY...

We must expect to pay a price for choosing to live in remote areas, the wilderness & for invading areas of land long inhabited by predators that call it home. It's unfair to pursecute a species to extinction for our own benefit, as every creature has the right to live in its habitat without being pursecuted or hunted down & killed because we want to steal it's home. We have done repeatedly this all over the planet & diminished the richness in our world by doing so. We need to evolve beyond the greedy, selfish species we are now & begin to honour the lives of all of the creatures that inhabit this planet with us & their right to live, as well as have somewhere in which to do that unimpeded by our encroachment. We're such an arrogant, brutally thoughtless & selfish species. There's little hope for humanity's survival as a species, if that doesn't change & change very soon, along with very quickly. We can change if we choose to do so. We just need to choose to do it.

Truly the most gorgeous, graceful, powerful & charismatic of the big cats for it's size. Utterly formidable & beautiful. How anyone could want to kill such an incredible creature just for sport is hard to comprehend. They're no longer beautiful when they're dead, as they no longer move & our Mountain Lions are all about movement. Their true beauty is revealed only when their sensuous, muscled bodies move, which they can no longer do once they've become a stuffed trophy, a skin hanging on a wall or made into a garment. To destroy such a magnificent representative of evolution's ability to create perfection is a tragically cruel & useless waste. The sacrifice of a domestic animal now & then for invading the Mountain Lion's territory, stealing it's prey & home is a small price to pay.

Terrific documentary. Excellent photography and full of interesting facts about these animals. For the sensitive viewers- the opening hunt scene is simulated. Relax. Bambi was just as real. So many people on here are too anti-hunting. It’s habit loss that causes the destruction of species, not modern regulated hunting. Most hunters I know are the most compassionate conservationists you’d ever meet. Go after housing developers and farmers, etc. if you’re really concerned with the loss of nature.

They've made their way back east all the way to Ontario. They were once only found in the rockies thanks to people. The grizzly bear is having a much harder time living in the plains.

They have no soul or heart they're only happy when they kill. It probably makes them feel tuff or something. Pure evil.

The narrator stated many key points that are both true and agreeable. I admire mountain lions, sure they look aggressive and might attack, but they are still part of nature and without them it feels empty. Just like all animals they deserve the right to live, the fact that they are the most widespread mammal in the Americas doesn't mean they should be eliminated. One key point which was interesting is that encounters are rare but because the mountain lion didn't invade our home but it was man who invaded their homeland, we must allow them to rule freely regardless of where we live even if sightings/encounters occur.

GOD GAVE MAN DOMINION OVER THE ANIMALS FISH FOUL AND EARTH. THE FOREST DOES NOT BELONG TO THE ANIMALS IT BELONGS TO GOD. AND MAN HAS DOMINION OVER IT. WHY DO PEOPLE LATCH ON TO THINGS PEOPLE SAY AND HOLD THEM LIKE THEY ARE TRUE. NO WHERE DID GOD DELARE THAT THE FORESTS AND WILDERNESS BELONGS TO THE ANIMALS MAN AND THE ANIMALS SHARE THE LAND. AND MAN HAS THE RIGHT TO USE THE TREES LAND AND THE ANIMALS FOR GOOD PURPOSES FOR FOOD CLOTHING SHELTER AND OTHER REASONS S GOD OWNS EVERYTHING

Absolutely stunning photography! Many kudos. I agree - trophy hunting with dogs is not sport. Track the animals on foot, alone. Then you can call yourself a hunter.

it is a sport YOU ARE UNEDUCATED. Hunting manages wildlife populations. Hunting is a vital wildlife management tool. It keeps nature at a healthy balance of which the available habitat can support carrying capacity. For many wildlife species, hunting also helps to maintain populations at levels compatible with human activity and land use.

26:00 that’s wrong! Mountain lions still can be found almost all over South America, except on the region around Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay border.

The States as well. They are spread throughout, maybe not as much as in the mentioned areas. I'm in Oklahoma, and we have these beautiful cats here as well. Long live the Mountain Lion! 💙
