Explore the Wildlife Kingdom | Cougar: Ghost of The Rockies | Full Movie | Grant Goodeve

Ойын-сауық

The cougar, or mountain lion, is secretive and solitary, inhabiting the remote regions of the Rockies Mountains where man rarely ventures. It can leap forward over 40 feet and jump 18 feet straight up in the air. Its stealth and skill as a mountain hunter are rarely witnessed. Here a mysterious phantom in nature is revealed.

I live in South Florida right outside the Everglades. I've been exploring in there all my life and my dream has always been to come across a wild Florida Panther. Two and a half years ago my dream finally came true. I saw a mother and cub from behind about a hundred yards ahead of me on a hiking trail. Unfortunately it was only a fleeting glimpse as they disappeared into the brush after only a few seconds. Not even enough time to ready my camera. But I'm blessed to have seen one and have faith I will come across more in the future. I find tracks all the time. Thankfully the panthers down here are smaller and much more scared of humans than their cousins out west.

If you see one in the northeast, it is most likely a male that has wandered more than 1000 miles to get here, and successfully crossed several dangerous highways along the way. There is plenty of food for them here in New England, but no females to mate with.

I've always been a Cat lover. They are intelligent, graceful, loving pets, and the wild ones as the Cougar are truly magnificent. Like all cat mothers they are very excellent mothers, teachers nurturers. I saw a clip that didn't give cats the ability to communicate, but I know from my personal experiences that is not true. Seeing this shows that very clearly also. The mother in this was like any mother, especially when she lost a kit. One could see the pain of her loss in her eyes.

A lot of people don't know this, but cats actually have better communication skills than dogs. People just understand dogs better. Cats are capable of over 100 vocalizations where as dogs only have about a dozen. Adult cats don't even use meowing to communicate in the wild. They strictly do that with humans. Cats' body language is also very consistent, very easy to understand, and they're capable of a pretty nuanced level of nonverbal communication. One of my cats is very quiet and rarely meows. ...but when she does, I know EXACTLY what she's saying. The meows she uses are very distinct and consistent. One reason people relate to, and therefore understand dogs better, is that dogs have facial muscles which allow them to make human like facial expressions - especially in the eyebrow area. Cats don't have these muscles, so their eyes aren't as expressive.

I love this video. They are such beautiful cats and good Mother’s. The cougar hunting is not ok with me. I don’t care that they are allowed to kill a cougar for sport, it’s just wrong. It’s one thing to hunt for elk or deer for food with how plentiful they are but you don’t eat cougars and their fur/hide isn’t that luxurious that you could use it for coats so what is the point of killing a beautiful animal like this. Money?? Shame on those hunters!! This angers me. It’s senseless. If I saw a hunter about to shoot a cougar I would try to stop him or make his life miserable. Ok, I’m done venting sort of but just saying, it’s stupid, wrong, unethical and sad. This killing should be only allowed if your life was in danger and sport hunting should be illegal!! 😤😡😔

Trust me...I'm an archery hunter who goes for meat not trophy and these cougar hunters make me sick to my stomach. Cougars are my favorite wild animal and so beautiful and well respected by Natives...and rightfully so. I loved that one fake hick yankee from new york in this video he said about now the deer population will thrive after he shot the cougar. The deer population will thrive and is already out thriving the cougar population. So all he did was harm another population crucial to the natural ecosystem. I'd love to see these trophy cougar hunters without their dogs and electronics. They'd be a meal for the mama and her kittens and I'd gladly watch it too. Self defense in the worst case scenario is one thing but not just to get your rocks off pulling a trigger. I have the same distaste and disrespect for these hunters on TV who kill deer on land that's all fenced in and have plots and everything else. That's not hunting...that's shooting fish in a barrel. What I do is hunting...like last deer season I didn't get a single deer and that's just how she goes because it's called hunting not guaranteed killing. Nothing is guaranteed and it's only what the Lord wants to provide to you. Trophy hunters are vile people...they live beyond their means.

Cougars (panthers) in Florida have had a population increase to 200 in 2022! This could be the beginning of cougars returning to the eastern half of North America, along with transient cats traveling to other states to claim a home range. Reintroduction into other eastern is very likely since whitetail deer are abundant for them to hunt and vast forests have returned to many parts of eastern North America during the decades. I support this! We NEED predators.

Absolute Travesty to hunt those beautiful cats!!! I’m not a tree hugger and respect hunters who eat the kill, but to kill this animal for fun is sickening!

@@kleakatrah206 yes, its difficult. we are not able to figure out if we are able in 20 or 30 years and the hunting need to stopped. but its bot worth it to say so if i would change something than its the rights there but its also not worth it to say cuz its fine how it is. most of the animals are driven by money like we are so if there is nothing to change the animals are free at all or so. pumas are in fact not threatened with extintion but there are many types of them. there are not many of every type, so the hunters need to be cool

Predators shouldn't be hunted unless they are attacking people, pets or livestock. Otherwise people need to leave them the hell alone. I personally don't care how many deer that they eat because deer are their natural food and I'm a deer hunter myself. I'm not gonna be stingy and think that every deer belongs to me like most hunters think. I mostly try to hunt older bucks who are starting to get past their prime breeding years and leave prime bucks alone. The meat still isn't tough at all. White tailed deer can live for 15 to 20 years in captivity. Most wild deer are nowhere near that old. Eating meat from a 15 to 20 year old deer would probably be like eating boot leather. I don't hunt every year though and when I do I only take 1. I won't bother to shoot a doe.
