The way Martin O'neil put that team together was fantastic: fast wingers to gun it down the wing, big targets to fire a ball into the box, great play makers in the middle, solid defenders to build a base from, players that could bomb it in the top corner from 30 yards out, a keeper who outclassed Barcelona's finest at camp nou and the cherry on the top, arguably the best player of his generation, you know who I'm talking about ;).

Biggest shame in Football that this set of Celtic players never got a fair final.. Deserved to lift that trophy.. What an effort.

As time marches on its even more incredible how much of a player Larson was.

I was at every one of these games...I'm sitting here, an old man now, remembering the joy! . but OH! I was lucky enough to have attended all the home ties during this incredible run . Celtic had missed out on the Champions League at the expense of Basel . The only game Celtic were outplayed was the home tie v Blackburn , although ironically still managed to win the match . Henrik Larsson was on fire this season ; Jimmy Johnstone praised Larsson , and told him he was so good that he would have got into the famous Lisbon Lions side .

A pleasure to watch this "real team" from the days when you just didn't get to buy everything you wanted but had to fashion a team from a group of talented but flawed guys. I get the impression that Hartson, Sutton, Thompson, Larson and the other "foreigners" just enjoyed turning out for appreciative fans in a fitba mad city.

As celtic an rangers finances dwarf the rest of the leagues teams making it impossible for a team outside those two too win the league , Money has destroyed tge game in all forms and leagues/cups it's who has the most money has trophys now not the way it used to be .

@@Craig_whyte to be honest I'm a hammers fan and the majority I would say prefer Celtic. We've swapped enough players over the years to have a pretty decent connection, plus hammers territory around Dagenham and barking had a large southern irish population that worked at fords. The way I've always seen it is this. Hammers and Fulham are Celtic. But Fulham only really took to the Celts once Al Fayed had taken over. Fulham became a psuedo club for London's Arab population, its traditional Jewish support went to tottenham in protest and Celtic was a way for them to rub it Into spurs . Tottenham, Millwall, Chelsea, QPR are Huns. Tottenham due to rangers affiliation with Israel and the others for bigoted reasons we all know why. Arsenal to be fair is split. But the large Irish contingent that populates the Camden area tend to make up the Celts arsenal support. But the two biggest southern clubs that have large Celtic fanbase are in west ham and gillingham

@@Craig_whyte honestly mate. We don't have it as much now we've gone to the Olympic stadium, but Upton park used to have loads of Irish attend the games. There was a Catholic church directly next to the stadium. My next door neighbour from Donegal used to attend mass there before heading off to fixtures. The nuns would occasionally attend games, and managers like Billic would also attend mass on a few occasions before games. The Irish Celtic contingent was huge at west ham. The original Irish that used to work at ford motors are now a dying breed, but Thier children and grandchildren will attend both the hammers and celtic. I think the only thing that doesn't give us that visible connection is that the second generation Irish hammers affiliate themselves with being English rather than Irish..they will root for Ireland because of the parents, but when it comes to international fixtures they wear the three lions. It's a shame, because most of us hammers would love a more visible freindship with Celtic

Will never forget the emotions I went through watching the final at home as a young boy I wanted to go to seville so much with my grandad and uncle as it was played on my birthday my late grandad and uncles words were they were going to be getting steam boats and wouldn't be able to look after a kid now I have grown up I understand why they didn't allow me to follow along with them I was so gutted celtic were by far the better team and deserved to lift the trophy larsson was sure king of Kings they say you never remember runner ups but I will always remember this lot they were best side by a mile hopefully I will able to get chance to see something special like this in my time 🎈

Celtic wearing the hoops, Liverpool in their classic all red strip. If this game was take place next week the half wits at UEFA would have Celtic wearing black/pink/yellow. Ditto at Celtic Park. Liverpool dressed up in some outfit no one would recognise as Liverpool.

In the end it was football pain that night in Seville so emotionally charged the atmosphere was incredibly tense at times you could cut the air with a knife incredible at the same time. Couldn’t watch match on playback for years afterwards it’s probably fair to say it’s the only European cup final I will get to in my lifetime as hoops fan ?

This is still to painful to take, even after all these years.

Those Liverpool games were something special. I still remember being 13 sitting in my room watching the whole crowd doing "you'll never walk alone". Thinking we were gonna get beat but when we won i was jumping all over the place. The Porto game was heartbreaking though.

I remember this like it was yesterday, apart from the final that is wiped from my memory. One things clear to me watching these clips, after the recent nonsense, the Green Brigade has brought a little bit of atmosphere to league games and ruined the atmosphere at big games.

This was an excellent match where the best team lost, no bias btw cos I do truly believe Porto were excellent, I mean they CL season after this, but these highlights show it far more even than what it was

Celtic not for the first time underestimated the semi final opponents but deservedly reached the final which they would have won but for Bobo's red card. Porto had run out of steam in the final twenty minutes. The present Celtic team are a team of midgets in comparison to O'Neill's big strong physical side who played some great football. Henrik a different class.
