Faithful Through And Through The Tommy Burns Story

Спорт

Thomas "Tommy" Burns (16 December 1956 -- 15 May 2008) rip Tommy
Without a doubt and most definitely a
Celtic Legend
Tommy was a Scottish professional football player and manager. He was also a Scotland international, winning eight caps between 1981 and 1988, while a Celtic player. He died of skin cancer on 15 May 2008, aged 51. rip Tommy hail hail
Celtic legend that will never be forgotten
Tommy Burns was a midfielder, signed by Celtic in 1973 from his second club Maryhill, a junior team from Glasgow. He made his debut against Dundee United on 19 April 1975, and he was a vital part of the side which won the league and cup double in the club's centenary season, 1988. In total, he made 352 league appearances and scored 52 goals
Tommy was my personal favourite growing up If you define a Celtic man, it would certainly be Tommy Burns
I do not own this video it is for entertainment purposes only

I remember writing to him when I was about 14, wee Brian McLaughlins Mum had passed away and I asked Tommy to play him cos he maybe needed it, Brian scored and Tommy handwrote a letter back to me thanking me for picking the team. Will never forget that. Also I got my photo taken with him when I was about 5 on the pitch during his Testimonial against Liverpool, still have it framed. Cried when he died and crying now. He was my hero and like his daughter said, he makes you want to be a better person, even still I try and do what Tommy would do.

For any guy to play for his boyhood team must be a dream come true, in this case however, it REALLY was his prayers being answered. As a Rangers fan I seen him play many times and watched him manage the team he adored, I used to make fun of his faith but it was just that, making fun- not sectarian or hateful, just the banter. RIP TOMMY you're a legend to those who follow YOUR CLUB! Surely that is the greatest epitath for a true Celtic man?

At Old Firm games, I really enjoyed watching Tommy, a player of pure class and also spoke the facts and a Gentleman at the same time. I know Davie Cooper was waiting to see Tam, when he went tae Heaven. For me, I loved the Rangers Celtic games, more than at any other time following the Rangers, at the period he played for his club, the old Celtic park was fantastic for the atmosphere, especially when he showed his sublime talent. And jeez, I was there in the Rangers end, when 10 men won the league, I was 13 at the time, that game broke my wee heart, I'm just glad there was a television cameraman strike at the time, so we didn't have to see it on the telly. I never forgave C Jackson for that own goal, with 13 mins to go. RIP TAM
