Way too many tourists get stuck in areas I have no idea how they managed to get stuck in, but then again I grew up in this type of enviroment.

The guy with glasses fucks up his leg, the two of them offer to go get help but he doesn't want to be left behind, so they decide to make up the distance by going through the forest.

This is easily one of the most underrated films I've ever seen. The writing is super intelligent and it's an eerie film that oozes with atmosphere and suspense. The acting is also on point most of the time, so it's easy to get invested in the characters too. It's a damn shame this film didn't get more love

In the book this happens a lot. Theres one scene where Dom and Luke are sitting back to back, and Luke is keeping watch. He falls asleep for a moment and wakes up to see a tree that wasn't there before. Really amazing stuff like that all over the book

@@Zegoggy One and the other arent mutually exclusive. Luke’s ptsd was caused by his fear of death/injury, in the end he had to face both the memory of that moment and his fear. It also showed the other friends that despite them hating Luke for freezing up in that store, they were hypocrites all along due to being paralyzed with fear when their own lives were on the line, and luke stepped up to redeem himself.

This move is a 7/10 a must see. Creepy, scary, great plot, great movie, thriller all the time, gets to the good stuff in just 12 min

This is one of my favorite movies!! It's not over the top, the creature is refreshingly awesome, and the creepiness of feeling watched and thinking you see something in the woods is relatable. It's realistic acting, too.

I saw this film a couple of years ago and it was the first horror movie to actually scare me in probably like a decade, I love it! I really hope it gets more recognition!

It was rather boring and like, you already know from the beginning who's going to survive and who isn't. It was dark and not scary (I get scared easily). Some ideas were really good like the design of the "monster". The ending made me angry bc it just stops and I want to know what's happening afterwards!! Also the story went by too fast. The only thing I really liked was the forest and the mountains. Looked beautiful but the rest was not interesting. 2/5

I was so surprised by this movie, especially being a netflix production. And Rafe Spall is just criminally underrated, great actor.

I need to watch this again. Super fun movie. Great camera work, good immersion, good pacing, decent script.

Unique storyline, great acting and dialogue, and a PHENOMENAL creature design. Just watched this last night and I give it an 8.5/10 mostly for originality and fantastic cinematography. NETFLIX is really stepping up their game with original films lately.

What I liked most about this movie is the camera. I loved those cuts into the forest where you didn’t know if there was something there or not. Then together with the music it created an incredible suspense

That was a pretty good movie. Well acted. Very creepy and scary creature design.

I watched this movie last week, and it was fantastic. It's definitely one of the most underrated horror movies that I've seen in a long while. The suspense was top notch throughout the whole runtime

This is one of the few horror movies I’ve seen in my life to stick with me. The symbolism and the storytelling keep me thinking about it. I’ve only seen it twice and I keep having dreams about it and referencing it

This was set in Romania not Sweden

I'm so glad I have started to watch trailers after I watch the movie. I had no idea of what to expect so everything came as a suprise. The trailer shows almost all the surprises. When I watched it I had no idea if it was going to be a monster, a serial killer, a curse or a group of crazy hillbillies. It let's you experience, wonder and guess what's going on just like the characters.

NOCH You act like the fricking title "The ritual" doesn't set a ridiculously narrow path. It was known from the begining that either it's cult or monster. Nothing more. And lets face the fact, you forget the trailer when you watch the actual movie. You don't think "ahhhh, I know ever fucking thing out there, it's that scene now, and then that and then that". Watching good movie you forget about the rest.

KIDD GEMINI 206 no it's not. Netflix bought the movie. I saw it several months before Netflix even posted this video. Ever hear of showbox/moviebox for android/iOS? It was on there, like a week after it originally came out, I want to say september or October, once Netflix announced this was coming it magically disappeared from everywhere. Those transitions to a semi-reality mixed flashbacks and the turmoil/conflict it brought to the main character's internal strength also tied into overcoming the external adversary even when things were pretty hopeless.

One of the best horror films in Netflix. Love the setting , the feel , the characters , the guilt and cowardice point of the story , badass creature , cool deaths , good banter , great direction overall . 8/10 i recommend it. I've seen it twice and couldn't get enough.

Watched The Ritual 2017 today, went in with no high expectations and I was rly surprised by how good this movie was. The pace at how the tense was building up was paced rly well. No cheap jump scares, just the overall movie atmosphere made this so creepy and scary to watch. I highly recommend this movie to any horror fan.

Very creepy and original and I wanted to smack Dom in the face and the scene with the hand totally floored me. Love this movie!

I really enjoyed the hell out of this movie. Genuinely creepy. Rob James Collier is excellent and should be getting way bigger roles, especially after being in Downton Abbey.

Real review: Keeps you on edge throughout! There is a possibility you would feel that the starting is a bit slow but it gets better and better. Very intense and has an actual meaning. One of the best movies on netflix 👍

For anyone wondering: I JUST finished watching the movie. Right now. It is worth it. It is good. Watch it and enjoy.

This is actually based on a pretty good book by Adam Neville.

I’ve seen hundreds of films over the course of many years. This NETFLIX ORIGINAL has managed to hold the number one spot on my list for almost two consecutive years. That’s saying something.

Its an old movie but its great

We all have that one facking friend who lead the group in danger... this movie says it all..

So it's a UK version of The Blair Witch without the found-footage angle, I'm interested.

People never learn to not take shortcuts smh

There's something about this movie, I've watched it more than once and never got bored of it. It's a great movie!

You see a gutted animal and runes on the tree around it, you turn back and run like you life depended on it. Because it does.

Yeah, that would've been my course of action in this scenario.

This movie was brilliant. It was really well executed and terrifying with the costume design and the audio did a really great job of building up the terror without all the redundant jump scares. Really makes you think twice about going into the woods.

One of the many shots that stuck to me from this fantastic movie are they walking through those trees. They're so tall and you never see their canopy, but they have those low, spindly branches across their trunks that are always reaching for the character, sometimes even shielding their vision from what is ahead. Can someone tell me what kind of trees are these? Some shots of them freaked me out!

The main character of this movie was even in the special episode of Black Mirror: White Christmas :D

Papa Hale , I knew I recognized this movie from somewhere! It was on several list of lesser-known newer horror movies that were considered must see. The only thing I remember about it in particular is the spoiler you just mentioned, which is pretty much all they mentioned about it. Now that it's on Netflix, I might as well see it and see if it lives up to the hype. By the way, you probably should edit in a spoiler warning --just saying.

That second scream of Hutch when he gets taken, is THE most terrifying scream I have ever heard on any horror movie I've ever seen, it gives me chills up my spine every time I hear it!

Netflix, I'm impressed. Great movie. How you got Liam from Coronation Street and Much from Robin Hood to be in a horror together is beyond me but it's made my year! The dialogue was literally amazing, the chemistry of the group was identical to the women from The Descent. British banter at its best. It gripped me from start to finish and don't even get me started on the creep factor. Well done

That scene with the nightmare in the forest is so awesome and original
