I do think we write a lot of jokes about hating meatloaf thinking about it now but its just a loaf of ground beef and breadcrumbs covered in some kind of sauce. Is it amazing? It can be but usually it's just okay. I think between it being a pretty basic and boring dish to make as well as its name, meatloaf, its easy to make fun of. I think also, it being so easy to make, part of the joke is that it's made way more often than it should so a kid gets sick of it after awhile. TLDR: The hate for meatloaf is probably played up more than it is actually hated here.

I feel like Shaun seriously underplayed the severity of the situation.

1) you're not watching the right horror movies if that's the case. the last decade has been a renaissance era for horror movies that hasn't really been on this scale since 80s slashers. For example... Hereditary? Get Out? Us? Midsommar? The Witch? It Follows? The Conjuring? The Babadook? Sinister? Insidious? Green Room? The Menu? Skinamarink? Happy Death Day (note: very camp but good)? That's just the top of the barrel of movies that I've personally seen. 2) Inherently, it's harder to keep someone on the edge of their seat for 2-hours straight than it is to do that for 15-minutes. Horror is a genre that structurally fits in a short story much more neatly than a long-form movie. Whereas comedy, drama, action, etc. need a lot of context, story, character development, etc. to really land the emotional beats-- horror is generally more effective the less we know.

I think it’s because the audience gets hooked on the idea of watching it, not necessarily ‘who’ is watching it. It’s a specific perspective that the writer must’ve intentionally worked from and that’s very impressive to me

I haven’t been creeped out by a scary movie in a minute. This was fantastic, wow.

Just a thought, a clue was, "it will not move while you are looking at it." So I assume you have an advantageuos chance of figting it or perhaps figuring out a way to put back in the box. That is the only conclusion I can think of how Sean was able to survive it and pass it on.

11:15 GOD idk why but the delivery from Shawn’s actor just gives me goosebumps cause Ben just realized the severity of the situation and we realize that Rachel probably died (or whatever the thing did to her) the second Ben took off

When Shawn started yelling in frustration about Ben leaving, it sent goosebumps everywhere. Then when it cut to what Ben heard. Truly terrifying.

All about the ending sequence was masterful. The entity appearing in the mirror as long as the guy is looking at it just to vanish in a single shot. My god horror at its best.

This is seriously perfect horror. Terrifying and ominous, but without cheap jump scares or even over-the-top visuals. It's eerie and captivating at the same time. I watched this one and The Dollmaker now. Easiest sub ever.

So they could leave the house with it to look for Ben. The thing lied in Ben's voice so that one person is left to guard it. Brilliant Film

Practically anything can be scary if it pops up on screen suddenly with a loud noise. But that wet head peeking out of the box remained just as disturbing to me no matter how long I stared at it, which is a genuine achievement in horror. My favorite spine-chilling moment was the shot of its eyes just following Ben. Absolutely loved this short film!!

Thats the Difference between "Scary" and "startling". Literally everyone can go "Booo!!" jumping out of a shadow and get a reaction, but you aint scared after that, you are pissed. Someone just terrifiying you by just being there, saying something, saying nothing... thats something you have to earn.

Everytime something happens in a movie with a strong sound it literally kills the fear factor to me. It's like the movie is saying, "your suppose to be afraid..now!..aren't you afraid??" Silence is the only genuinly effective thing in horror for me. Kinda annoys the shit out of me no one ever just lets it be quiet. Seeing something disturbing in a movie with no musical cue is always so much more effective

Unbelievably good. No violence, gore, monsters, or jumpscares. Hollywood can only dream of having this amazing level of quality.

That one friend who does something fucked up, disappears for a long ass time only to reappear to fuck up your life in a new way.

Rewatching this its still great, seeing how smart it is. Making them think its slow, that it cant move if EITHER of them are looking at it. To make Ben think its safe to leave her alone with it, its probably way faster than it seems.

This is SO GOOD. THE WAY SHAWN SCREAMED "YOU" GAVE ME CHILLS.

The acting emotion when Shawn got mad at Ben for leaving the house as Ben was supposed to be watching the box was pretty powerful. You can really hear the mixture of the initial sadness of the doom Rachael is about to face followed by the sheer transition to anger for realizing that Ben didn't listen and then rage that Ben didn't listen again during that call.

Usually when I look away and do something while watching a video, it's because I'm bored, but this time, it was because the video was freaking me out too much I was told this was good when it was suggested to me, but bravo, it's one of the only horror films to actually put me on edge

One of THE best horror movies on this channel. Never gets old

The fact that it WAITED until Rachel was alone. There were so many moments where Ben was looking away and it could have moved but it didn't to confuse them about the rules and make them think they'd both be safe.

I love horror/suspense...and this had me covering the screen and looking away! This was so well written and produced. Bravo. Now I'm terrified and want to turn all the lights on lol

The part where Shaun clarifies Ben has to be the one to keep his eyes on the monster got me the first time i watched it. Probably my favorite horror short, along with Curve and Portrait of God

This is less than 20 minutes long but it felt like a hour long movie. Work of art

I have more questions like... What really transpired between the two guys that made Shawn say, that's water beneath the bridge. Was Shawn dating her first? or was there a bad brawl??. Like I'm left wondering, The way Shawn intentionally told the guy to open the box before reading the letter. He wanted him to DIE.

It's always the fear of the unknown that is the scariest. And when that unknown looks so like us, it makes it even more terrifying. Also, the box man/creature looks a little like Hbomberguy which made me chuckle.

What's even more scary is how inanimate the thing in the box is. You stare at it at and seems to be just another object, almost like a mannequin, it doesn't respond to words or touch, but yet it's eyes move and it moves when you're not looking at it.

A classic pre code horror comic adaptation, like Tales Too Terrible To Tell, and all the other great books from an era so long ago. Bravo! Simply bravo!

This is still one of the most creepiest ones

This was great. No jump scares, no gore, super creepy and scary, minimal cast and props, great acting, clean cuts. Wonderful.

Omg I remember this one! This was such a good horror short. Both unique and classic vibes.

Popped up on my feed again so I watched it again and it's still one of the best movies/ stories

I would've called the cops right away. Usually in paranormal films, the issue is proving to authorities you're not crazy. But in this scenario, you can't deny a creepy guy peeking out at you from a box. Or I would've tried hurting it while it was still in the box.

no but think about it, shaun mustve seen it too, yet when he brought it to them, it wasnt apparent until it was too late, so that suggests it has some awareness and its likely when the cops arrived it wouldn’t appear to be there, unless it just ended up with more victims through each person who saw it becoming trapped to stare at it.

I hate jumpscares. They are cheap and not scary at all. All it doese is suprise you for a short momment. And them its over. All the scare is gone. Psychological horror last longer. When you cant see it anymore it keeps haunting your mind. And I love that.

This is absolutely the best short film I have seen, it has no blood, no screaming just the silence and suspense, this is something makes you want more that’s exactly what we want in the suspense cinema, it’s just amazing

This is a perfect example for great psychological horror. It's given real fear, not just fear of jump scares. Even in the short amount of time, you bond with the characters in some way. And by the end of it all, you're left with more questions than answers. This is an absolutely amazing film! Definitely one of my favorites!

Yeah i’m late but theory here, Racheal definitely was taken within the box. The people that were on the stairs are all victims that looked away from the box. Racheal looked like she was on the stairs during the last part. Once you’re in the box it’s like it traps and converts you into one of them. I absolutely love this
