Stick insects do share DNA with actual sticks, but I think trying to explain that to Karl would just make things muddier for him.

Karl is like the opposite of Darwin

There is something similar, but it's the other way around. Certain species of orchids evolved to look so much like female wasps, males try to have their way with them.

The fact that this man is a millionaire proves that anything is possible 🤣

I wish Ricky would make an effort to educate Karl more often. By that I mean actually trying to help him understand, instead of just making fun of his thoughts. Ricky definitely knows enough about natural selection and evolution to have helped Karl here.

but Ricky and Karl hung out and socialized privately as well so most of their interaction were not limited to the show. Ricky often talks about trying to explain something to Karl earlier in the week in the podcasts. but in the end his job is to entertain the radio audience while on air .

@@QueenofTaterTots I wouldn't say Karl outright refuses to learn. Hes always demonstrated a curiosity about the world around him and he often mentions how he's been reading about a particular subject. I think perhaps traditional educational methods (especially in Karl's time when they were a lot more by-the-book) just don't work with the way Karl percieves new ideas and tries to work them out. Of course we can't also rule out the possibility that Karl knows hes the butt of a joke and plays it up a bit for the sake of entertainment; Exaggerates his personality in a way.

@@sighlenus8638 Yeah. He's downright curious about freaks. The only things he's always demonstrated a curiosity about is weird "facts" of dubious verity.

I think the insect that looks like a leaf, he’s referring to may be a Katydid.
