He got the money from the monopole on the gold mined in Mali. Every nugget which had been found, belonged to the crown. During his pilgrimage to Mecca, he stopped in Alexandria for two years and spend such a lot of money, that he caused an inflation, that lasted for over 20 years!! What a man!!!! BTW - transatlantic slavetrade was impossible for him, because he died around 150 years before Columbus discovered America 😊
