The Daily Show was such an incredible incubator for talent.

Khan Singh I don't know if it even was. I think it's that is so completely changed the landscape. That is to say, they changed the world to their kind of funny. Now every late night show is a mini daily show ripoff.

Except there is no cheap attempt to capitalize on nostalgia with some hackneyed excuse for a storyline instead of having to think of anything original...and also no shitty comic book incarnations. Mind you my opinion does not include graphic novels like the amazing sin City, though you should probably already know that!!!

he basically created the political comedy news genre. It's dominated by his mentees now. Don't forget Trevor Noah too.
@eldadmaster
7 жыл бұрын
Let's forget him. He ruined the show. Notice how he wasn't invited, presumably because he defiled everything Stewart stood for. Noah's show isn't political comedy it's propaganda. John Stewart was (is) an outspoken liberal and democrat, but he was always trying to reach out to the other side, to bring Americans together; Trevor is just about divisiveness, he's the face of current America where (regardless which side you're on) anyone who has an opposite political leanings is wrong and stupid and an enemy of the state. John often brought republican politicians and media people to confront them head on, with an attitude of mutual respect; do you think Trevor would ever entertain the idea of allowing republicans to appear on his show, to allow them to explain their positions? Of course not because he's the representative of a generation that made "social justice warriors" into an insult, of hypocrites that believe "freedom of speech" should only apply to them...
@DarkOneRRp

I read somewhere that Jon Stewart was thinking of doing something on HBO. They would probably dump Oliver in a second to get Stewart. I'm sure there would be tension at just the thought of something like that happening (even tho i don't think it will). There is always behind the scenes drama in showbiz bc there is only so much air time to go around

"I had to flee the klan one time" lmfaoooooo gotta love Colbert
"The KKK president is just over there, he know's all about what were doing, just go ask him." That's how to stay cool headed and think quick.
Jason Jones, Aasif Mandvi, Kristen Schaal, Jordan Klepper... Such an amazing and talented team that gave us some of the best moments in comedy.
Comedic powerhouse action team, everybody! 👏😍
Colbert, Stewart and Oliver all in one video. Fuck yes
Hats off to Stephen's Comedy Central producer! Taking on the Klan when Stephen was too afraid to think on his feet :P
I miss this ensemble so much.
Oh look, Jon's kids!
"Haul ass!" LMAO!
Aw, it's like a father reuniting with his children... So sweet ^__^

I literally would have exploded if I had been in that room. All of my favorite people in one place 😭😭
The part with John Oliver had me bust out laughing! 👍❤
This is over half of Trump's biggest critics in the same video. Tributes assemble! Amazing that Comedy Central let them show those old footages :)
Do I even need to watch this to like this!! 😁
Stewart and the Daily Show sure knew how to hire talented people.
Poor Oliver... everyone else's field pieces were just awkward (in a good way!), but he had physical injury as his field piece clip.
AVENGERS ASSEMBLE
How am I just now finding this?!!?!?????? This is golden!!!!!! We need this to happen every week
It's all about Jon and John for me !!

"HAUL ASS" Omg, I figuratively died 😂😂😂
Not only was/is this one of the funniest shows ever, it is somehow also a great tool for protecting democracy. Comedy is a great equalizer!
For those hating on Trevor Noah or Hasan Minhaj.....these guys were funny and satirical, AND the new cats are funny and thought-provoking. Welcome to 2017.
They are bunch of guys with great sense of humour
YES!! Reliving my late teen and early 20's all over again!! I would set my VCR and yes I said VCR to record the Daily Show weekly, eventually had a DVR but a free external one, no monthly bill, anyway, THIS IS AWESOME!! Seeing you all together!! Stephen, thank you for this so much! And if Jon won't come on TV because it's the right thing to do, you bring him on your show as many times as possible!
Those stories made them sound like comedic war reporters.
I remember a John Oliver England piece that made me love him as a correspondent instantly.
You just know Colbert is LEGEND at Comedy Central! That Klan story is epic
I love these guys they are my favorite way to learn the news! After these stories I know why I admire them! They do what it takes to get the story then give it to us in a way we can swallow it and hopefully change the world in ways that otherwise couldn't be presented...
You guys got us through some tough times. Bless.
That's wonderful! Love you guys. I'm a super fan. Year after year after year. Miss you all. What a treat to see you together.
I could watch hours of this kind of storytelling.
Much as I do like the current, diverse Daily Show cast, the correspondents during the Jon Stewart years were like original SNL in terms of talent. They were older Gen Xers who pushed the boundaries and forged a new genre.
holy shit stephen! That last story was 2 brain cells away fron being a very not happy ending. Im glad everyone was safe
I lost it at the haul ass bit, lol
I swear to god, film and tv producers are the most unbreakable people I've ever encountered. Nerves of steel on them.
Only one missing was Mr Big Hollywood Steve Carell. Sad we couldn't get another "Even Stevens" skit.
"I had to flee the Klan one night" man that sounds like an awosome opening to a movie!
Aw man it's like reuniting with old school friends, all that banter is still there, so great!
I love all of these people dearly. Wits and personality at their best... TV at its best!
COLBERT 2020.... Stewart and Oliver like a VP's !!!
They were such pioneers in late night news comedy, and they've come so far :D
This honestly brought me so much joy. Talk about nostalgia!
Probably watched john run and skid over like 4 times and still lmao.
John Oliver is such a gift
This is like a wet dream come to life. THANK YOU GOD!
Why couldn't this be all the time!!! This is perfect!! I want more of this!!! Please do this again...daily...forever!!
I mean I need 1hr of this in 2020. pls make it happen even if it's thru zoom or any video conference
Comparing these guys to the Avengers doesn’t do them justice, these legends are more like the Looney Tunes. Clever chaotic tricksters whose opposers never stand a chance, yet so iconic and hilarious that even their oldest comedy bits are still funny to this day.
