I have personally witnessed repairs like this in 3rd world countries. These folks are very professional and committed to their profession and can usually fix or repair anything. It isn’t the cleanest environment but they will do their best. Many of these folks do not have schooling or a professional trade school, yet they learn from their coworkers and family. Awesome work guys!

Hands on training with the help of experienced mechanics/technicians. Very hard to learn skills like these in U.S. on your own these days. Without trade school or a mentor, the internet and diving in yourself is only real option. That's how I did it.

That's why they're stuck in this rut of doing everything wrong and backwards...they learn from the other guy that did everything wrong and backwards. It's a vicious cycle and they're too dumb, careless, and primitive to step out of it.

So many people don't understand that there are places where you have to find a way to fix what you have because you can't go to a local parts house and get a new part in a few days. The other problem is when you can't afford the part or the shipping. When you live in a back corner of nowhere, parts availability dictates what you have to do to make what you have work.

Not everyone in the world needs or can afford big brother looking over their shoulder. I’m betting this isn’t the first time they have done this repair and they gained knowledge of what works and what doesn’t over time repairing axles that go under the most overloaded trucks in the world. You can’t keep a customer happy when your work doesn’t work and these guys look like they have been in business for a while.

As rough as their work environment is, there is nothing shoddy about their ability to make major repairs such as these. Given that you saw very few "technical tools" and what they do use are very rudimentary measuring devices their level of work is superb. Thanks for sharing.

Labor is cheaper than new parts, so this type of repair is done every day. In the states, if this axle broke again and hurt anyone, the shop which performed such a repair would be sued until the company was financially ruined, which is why new parts are installed not repaired. I assume there is no legal recourse in these countries if the axle does break again and does hurt someone.

Wow of all the dodgy repairs these blokes have done, this has to be the worst.. the dowel they put in has full thickness metal where the break happened but at the ends that huge dowel has heaps less metal than the original .. if they are going to weld an axle they should use a much smaller dowel so there's more thickness of metal.. i guess they think it'll be ok because when it breaks a week later, it'll break in a different spot to this time because of where they put a major weak point in at the end of that oversized dowel
