Big fan here! I live in Alaska and have watched American van life travel vids for quite a while. Some are good, some are too precious and some are SO BORING! You two kids have them all beat! Mitch, you crack me up! You're so sweet and genuine. Martha, you are brave and tough, even though I feel YOU don't think you are. Child, I would have NEVER gone into the "hell tunnels"! Also, I love that you prioritize your nails. Living on the road doesn't mean one neglects their fingernails! :) Thank you for sharing your humor, great videos, and honest life on the road!

Just one thing that will help you with dogs coming at you. Carry something in your hands that you can wave in the air it scares them. Even waving a jumper makes them back off. If you face them and step forward not scared it will change there approach. We had 3 wild dogs foaming at the mouth coming at us and we grouped together and I took my jumper off and scared them. If they see weakness they will keep at you.

Seems like your limiting factors are mostly the following: water, grocery, and power. RE: water, if you think and design a system to collect "rain water", RE:groocery, if you have e-bikes, mount plastic milk crates in the front, RE: power, solar, bleed the sun dry or portable power, anker solex c1000 with solar panels. RE: tiolets, you could get "dry flush system, it is a lot easier to clean. Hope the suggestions help guys. :)

Hello from MN (USA)! Just found your channel and sub'd, love your content so far. My wife and I just built out a van and are just beginning to use it for trips, not planning to live in full time. Keep up the good work! The issue with your fan is as you suspect, over voltage. I installed a DROK DC-DC Buck Boost Converter, 9V-36V to 12V, 5A and it will eliminate the problem. This device will fit right inside the housing of the Maxx Fan and keeps the voltage at exactly 12V no matter the input as long as it is in the 9-36V range. Low cost and effective. Best of luck.

You want to know why I find your video entertaining? (Sorry for my poor English, I'm Polish) Your video just popped out and after beeing tired of the same van life videos I didn't want to click on it, but something told me to do so. This was one of the best van life videos I've seen. You are both delightful. You speak beautifly for me, although real (british) english is quite tricky to understand in contrary to english used in usa. Your video is simple in form, without aesthetic and unnessesary breaks (e.g. from drone). You are both authentic. And you use SI system ('C, liters etc.) :D It was nice fresh breath to watch you, guys!

Suggestion: you know if you design a way to collect "rain water" you won't have to worry about looking to refill fresh water all the time. Just a thought. Forget the grey/black tank, install a switch, push then dump cotents and speed away. lol

Turning off dedicated heating to cook food is fine. Heat is heat and if the cooking is pulling similar power to the dedicated heating, it will also provide similar amounts of heating in the van, with a smell of food :P. 2000w of heating is the same as 2000w to cook and both warm the environment up.

If not already mentioned. The maxxfan issue has a known problem. Had it with mine. Randomly did stuff by itself & would also randomly do things when we used tv remote. It needs a new control board. I contacted supplier who put me in touch with uk supplier. Got replacement and instructions next day FOC. Takes about 20mins to replace. Maxxfan had a period of faulty control boards a while back. When I opened mine I found the pcb was 2 years old, on a fan I bought a couple of months ago. Good look, it's an easy fix. Steve

started following you before Christmas, so first time posting. It's good seeing your honesty. Love pesto pasta - a little tip, had a couple of tablespoons of natural yoghurt when it's finished cooking - it makes it really creamy. And seeing that big pot of cheap yoghurt, you're going to have a lot of it around!

Hi - I think your videos are entertaining!! You go through a lot of things I'd like to know since my husband and I are building a camper van this year. We're prepared to spend a fortune on a toilet. 🙂 A King's ransom!! We won't be going from country to country, but we will go around to a lot of places where camper vans can park. We're buying a UK company's tent to bring along in case we stay somewhere for a couple of weeks. It will allow us to stretch out a bit for awhile. We're planning to keep a Yearly Planner book (a big one) when we get going so that we can keep track of places we've stayed and how long we had in time to sort things out when issues came up. Lots of pictures as we go along, too. You guys give us an idea of what daily life is like and we're pretty certain that it will be good. You guys always know what to do when you reach some difficult moment. Keep up the good work!!!! 🙂

I just like watching your day to day even the mundane stuff, I've always liked the idea of van life but the mrs and kids wouldnt appreciate it so i live vicariously though your ( and others) experiences :) your videos seem honest and genuine and i think thats what makes a good channel. Keep up the good work. Look forward to the next one. Out of interest how long does it take to film and then edit a vidoe normally and who does the editing?

Condensation is normal no matter what you do. If warm moist air touches something cold condensation happens, unless you have a constant air current running over that surface at least. I just use a window vacuum on all windows twice a day and I've never had an issue. Takes 5 minutes to suck up all the water. Crazy how much it adds up in such a short time. I have the same toilet in my van, and I avoid using it as much as possible to the point where I can go 2-3 months without emptying it. The sewage is safe to drop in any public toilet or even a porta potty. But yeah, it fucking reeks 😥

Here is some advise for the toilet: use laundry detergent pods instead of the blue stuff. They smell a LOT better (especially if you get lavender scented). If it gets smelly, just throw in another pod. It can be dumped into a regular toilet since it's just what goes down the drain in a washing machine. Unlike toilet chemicals, laundry detergent breaks down the poo so there are no "chunky" bits to cause splashes. Finally, you can also use the same pods for their original purpose of laundering your clothes. One bit of caution. If you use pods, always open the valve slightly with the lid down in case the suds build up air pressure from all the vibrations while driving.

Yeah I really need to get a crockpot so you can throw a roast with potatoes and carrots or etc. that will last you 2 days. And you can eat roast sandwiches for lunch. You guys can do a whole chicken You can also make homemade meatballs for meatball subs and one night and then spaghetti meatballs the next night and lunches

Love having you back on the move, So do you cook in the van mostly for the cost or because it’s cold ? Gonna be honest and say by eating out in countries like Turkey it’s very cheap and you get to meet so many characters and find out if anything is happening in the area in coming days. We used to ask a couple of locals which 5 places they would visit locally and it always worked for us. It’s amazing the things you can miss by not socialising just a little. Please don’t see this as a negative comment and take everything in to remember in 20 years time, Geordie, Kate, Dylan and Dutch the dogs x stay safe x

Mainly for cost and we like eating healthy whole foods (most of the time) so it’s just easier for us. But it’s funny as you put this comment we were filming another video finally experiencing turkey and all the food so stay tuned for that this week, thank you ☺️

interesting comments on the chemical loo - shouldnt stink, maybe change your fluid brand perhaps not strong enough. Also, when full pop the cassette into a bag and then march into any public toilet and gently empty in the cubicle - might take a few flushes but shouldnt be a problem. Also way easier if you are mostly no1 obs 8-)

I had the same problem with my maxxair fan in my old T4. I thought there was a sensor on it at some point so ended up putting a bit of black gaffer tape over the little red light on the fan itself and it seemed to do the trick :') Love the videos btw, hopefully see you on the road in the future.
