I just got my first chinchillas! Two little sisters! They've been here for such a short time and have already been incredibly rewarding, fun little buddies. Thanks for all your videos and good information!

I have both my boys in one cage and they love each other they’re so cute cuddling together. And I have a wheel for them to run in and one of them is on it all the time and they like to sleep on it when they’re warm. And I have a lot of chinchillers to hold down the fleece and all the corners.

My goodness you have grown so much, I was here when you only had Merlin and still lived in your old house. From 3k to almost 30k you still have great tips. You're the one who got me interested in chinchillas and spent almost 5 months researching about them, thank you.

I have 2 chinchillas too, so true!!! Especially the jealousy and mostly the cuteness, ugh, they absolutely melt my heart. Your 2 are so cute, I enjoy all your videos and seeing Zorro and Merlin ❤

I have 3 chins at the moment, a pair and a single baby ( one of the pair alternates as the other dislikes the baby) and omg it’s a lot 😂😂, remembering who you’ve cleaned and cleaning up poop and refilling food and water daily takes quite a while 🤣😅

I got my 2nd chinchilla few weeks ago and I so agree with the poop! 😆 They are so cute but the poop is really everywhere. EVERYWHERE. The daily cleaning of 2 cages everyday is really something but they are so worth it.

Awesome video. Try having 3 chins like me. It is a lot of work cleaning and maintaining their cage. I have all 3 together because they are all brothers. Yes so correct. A lot more food and water consumed. Just for people that are thinking about getting a chin, the expenses can get great at times but they are so adorable. Wouldn't trade mine for the world. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an awesome day

Great video, I don't have/nor have I kept chinchillas but I enjoy the husbandry. I will say as a person who has kept 3 dogs at once, 2 dogs is definitely double the work but 3 isn't triple the trouble 😊 not that I'm encouraging taking on a third chinchilla!🤣 ❤

I have 4 chinchillas (2x females, and 2x males). The males have their own cages, but they prefer it that way. My females share the same cage, and they are so close 💕

Try 3! All separate cages. I have a room dedicated to them 😂

I’ve owned many different animals in my life and hands down chinchillas are the messiest poop machines in existence

My boyfriends step mom gave me her chinchilla Carl yesterday and I've been watching all of your videos thank you so much for all the information. I've been leaving him be to get used to the new environment except for when I've fed him but he isn't moving around and being active like Merlin, and I was wondering what that means?

Give him more time to adjust. It could take a couple weeks. Merlin is just very friendly naturally but not all chinnies are like that💕

@@TheChinchillaNotebook I just let him out today for the first time for play time and at first he didn't wanna come near me but towards the end he came up to me and jumped on my legs and kept coming up to me! He hasn't let me pet him yet but I'm just so happy to be making progress 😊

I have a question! Is the critter nation model 162 (the one you guys have) big enough for two chins to share or is it two small? Or are you keeping them separate because of how Merlin had trouble with other chins? Love you guys!

Hi I am a subscriber and I have learned a lot from you I had two chinchillas just like you and I just lost my Cloudy tonight she was accidentally stepped on by my wife while my wife was cleaning around her cage. It was an accident that she stepped on her because Cloudy liked to run after the broom and bite the bristles and when my wife was not looking and accidentally stepped back on her and Cloudy was only two and a half years old. We tried calling several vets to try and save her but no one would take a chinchilla. It was late at night and she needed medical attention right away. I was willing to drive hours to save her, but sorry to say she did suffer and passed away as I was asking the vet I called four times if they can just euthanize her to stop her suffering. But it was too late R.I.P my beautiful Cloudy 10 p.m. Dec. 7, 2020 we loved you so much. So can you please tell the danger of walking around your chinchillas in one of your videos? And also I know it is not a happy subject but what can you do when your chinchilla passes away.

I’ve got a cute couple Both males housed together (cage 70x50 and 190 cm high) and they actually are very funny. I see them sometimes sleeping together 🥰😍and cuddling and then when I bring some fresh food you see the more bossy one who tries to get the other out of the bowl even though I have like four different bowls in the cage with Hay and treats and pellets. And also one loves to be cuddled and scratched under his chin the other one of course the bossy one definitely doesn’t enjoy me touching him too much🤣🤣 So yeah they definitely do have different personalities

I have 3 chinchillas in the same cage but it’s 3 tier and there all brothers and we have 3 bowls 3 water bottles and playtime is so fun 😁

i just bought another one recently and did the smoosh method for bonding them and deep cleaned the cage. It's been only two days but now they seem like best friends and sleeping next to eachother. It's crazy how quickly it works, because it was like they were trying to kill eachother when I made the mistake of letting the new one inside the older one's cage for a few minutes.

The poop is Insane!! I feel like I clean more than any thing but I do love my girls! Thanks for sharing😊

No, that’s definitely a myth. As long as you are providing them plenty of hay and wooden and pumice chew toys, you don’t ever have to deal with their teeth 💕

Hi so I'm look for tips on what going on with one of my Chinchillas. I've had them for exactly 6 months to this day, and the youngest one, he's 2 years old, his name is Mr. Turnip. He lets me pick him up, but he's still very skittish when I make sudden movements. They do live in my room, but he loves to be carried and loves the rest of my family. He also gets a little scared when I open the cage, but he still greets me along with his brother, Mr. Radish, and they love to greet anyone that comes near the cage. Is there anyway to make him less scared of sudden movements?

It’s good he’s in your room as it means it will get used to movement, maybe if you have a television put that on and it will slowly get used to the movement and sounds, it will take a while and another method you could do is start rewarding the chin when it keeps calm and reassuring it when it gets stressed, some chins in general are more skitty, so don’t stress too much if things don’t change, it just might take some time, chins have really long lives so it should calm down in its own time xx

it may be that (i don’t know if you did this) you picked him up to early when you got him, you should wait about 10 to 30 days to even hold them, if you saw one of her videos, it was bonding with her chinchilla and she didn’t touch zorro at all. she just let him come to her.

Why do you separate them ? Mine love each other if you keep them separate all the time thats why they fight.

mine are good with it but it all depends on the chin. they are all very different. just dont use a supper loud one and they will be fine. hopefully this help and enjoy the chins they are awesome pets

It doesn’t really scare them because they’re used to the sound. Merlin got used to it faster than Zorro did. It just depends on the chinnie 💕

Yes. I have two males. Just make sure it's a all-male or all-female group. Make sure you get a critter nation cage or a All living things cage, you can find them on Amazon, PetSmart or Petco. The cage has to have at least two stories.

Chibling rivalry!

We used to own 4 so we could breed them, once the female's began bullying the sweetest one, we got rid of all of them except the sweetest. Her name was ebony because she was an ebony chin, with light pearl and grey bars on her stomach and side, but an all black head, tail, ears, back, shoulders, etc. She was so beautiful. I only have 1 now, but I know what its like to have a lot of chins.

Chinchillas need to be kept in pairs! They are VERY SOCIAL animals. If you can’t provide for that, don’t get one at all. Don’t compromise your animals welfare for your own comfort

YES, they are very fragile. However, chinchillas are very athletic and love to jump and climb.
