I really needed to hear that today. As a broken man in my mid thirties dealing with depression, anxiety, loneliness, and now unemployment, I sometimes want to just jump off a cliff. But I know that I am not alone in the fight. Millions of other people feel the way I do, and the way that Mr. Carrey felt. It is engrained in our society that we need to be certain people or certain types of people. We try so hard to be the people that we think we need to be that we forget to be who we are. That causes feelings of disassociation and derealization and it only adds to the wall that divides us from our dreams. That feeling of hopelessness and despair continues to impair my ability to share my artistic talents with the world, out of fear of ridicule or rejection. When Mr. Carrey said "you are enough", that was the moment that utterly broke me. For so long, I have beleived that I would never be enough for anyone - a girlfriend, a wife, an employer. Recently, a friend of mine told me that I was enough, too. When we fully realize that we are truly meant to be who we were meant to be, it will be such an enlightening experience. I am enough. You are enough. Thank you, Jim.

Yeah... You are not alone. I've been struggling with depression for over a year ... When I got better my ex wife cheated on me and I had to let her go. My heart was shattered and the depression came back. Every day is a personal fight. Every day I want to end it all but then I think... Maybe if I can go through this day tomorrow it will be better. I just hope one day I will be happy even though I had lost hope in humanity already... Don't give up, friend

I felt like telling you this right now, at one point in my life because of my depression, anxiety, low self esteem, drugs i thought of suicide because i had so much grief but little later on Jesus showed up to me through many miracles for example i had dreams of things that happened or was said in the bible spot on and later on i started to read the bible for the first time in my life and i got to the chapters where i had the dreams about those verses and events that happened in the bible. And as i was going through the bible it felt so alive it was like God was directly speaking to me about my problems and my life and filled me with his presence and a peace within me that ive never felt before . It opened my mind and heart where now i could understand everything that i was questioning about this life. I was the worst sinner doing many evil things in my life, i know now that sin is what makes our soul be so empty and broken to the point we feel so miserable and hopeless and when i was in my lowest moment in life , when my heart humbled that is the moment where God rescues us. When we come to the point where our ego lefts us and humilty come into our hearts thats where you find Jesus. As the bible says that God stands against the pride and gives grace to the humble. And my favourite verse "And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

I felt like that...genetic depression will do that. Depression, loneliness, hopelessness, borderline sooi-sidal thoughts. Then I was manipulated and discarded by a narcissistic woman, that threw me into a suffering I didn't know could exist. Everyday was existential pain and suffering. I was 30 when that extreme depression started. At 32 now and all of that negativity is completely gone, I am at total peace, again on a level I didn't know possible. What happened? I found God. God wants you to be you, and the best you you can be. I can not recommend finding God enough. If you'd like any advice or guidance, you need only ask. I want to help everyone that suffers like I used to find the real solution to fixing it. That solution is a relationship with the One that created your spirit in the first place. I wish you the best, blessings

The thing that's so interesting about being alive is that you're all in. No matter what you do, you're all in; this is gonna kill you. So I think you might as well play the most magnificent game you can while you're waiting. Because do you have anything better to do? Why not pick the best thing possible that you can do? Because you're more powerful than you think- way more powerful than you think. God only knows what you are in the final analysis. You're blind to your own weaknesses, but you're also blind to your own strengths. How far can you take that? If you stopped wasting time, and if you stopped lying and you oriented yourself to the highest possible good that you can conceive of and you committed to that. How much good could you do? Well, I would say- why don't you find out?

@gavriilkremastiotis1914 Nothing is an illusion. Nothing when named becomes something... an image, feeling in oneself. Simmering in nothingness is the absence of not being able to acknowledge there is something. There is always something... that something is unique to the individual. Even a lided jar with the air removed has something in it... small particles called quarks intermittently pass into the jar... so an empty jar never really is empty. For me, depression is a reaction of not liking something or feeling that something is nothing, then experiencing the lack of power and perception to do anything about it... which eats at ones spirit, creating a very real experience of darkness, and in that darkness, frustration because the nothingness has taken hold and one is desperately grasping for that unique something knowing it is there, yet not being able to grasp it... to move toward something... a feeling of being broken. Nothing is Something. There is never really nothing. There is always something. In that, I find a thread of hope when in the darkness.

Jim Carrey is my age. Though he sounds in many interviews after his breakdown as a lunatic of prozac, No. Jim's journey explained in this interview is the most sincere, heart felt explanation of his behavioral descent. He decided to "Unplug." Rest. Some would think that there was a singular event that caused his mental break, but really, it was "A Series of Unfortunate Events." Many episodes in his life as in all of us that lead to that famous movie line quote, "I'm As Mad As Hell And I'm Not Going To Take It Any More!" Mr. Carrey working so hard to portray his role as Jim Carrey was compared to a v12 fuel injected supercar running at 214 miles per hour in blinding rain at the 24 hours of Le Mans "Until Literally The Wheels Fell Off!" I sacrificed my entire youth in the United States Navy and even served in Operation Desert Storm and saw things that I thought were very intense, but Mr. Carrey observed and experienced "Things" over his entire career that would cause even a (DEVGRU) Antiterrorism Task Force Special Warfare Operator to..........PAUSE. God Bless Jim. He learned how to........LET GO.

On a bad day as an NHL player, playing for the Los Angeles Kings at 18-22, I would look into the stands and wish I could give my equipment and stick to someone more enthusiastic than me so they could see that what they perceive as "stardom" and "wonderful" was not actually the way it was. Thanks Jim. This video has had a very positive impact on me.

This video really took me by surprise. A lot of the motivational/inspirational videos on KZread tend to be fairly toxic and unhelpful, but Jim Carrey is somebody that truly understands what it means to exist, and that is that there is no meaning. We just do. We exist for no reason other than to exist, and the continuous search for self and purpose is frivolous, everything we need is within us, always has been, is right now and always will be. There doesn’t have to be meaning, the fact we are here, watching this video, reading/typing these comments, is a beautiful thing on it’s own. We exist. Over the years, I’ve learnt that those two words and three syllables are much more profound upon contemplation than they are when first hearing them.

This makes me less concerned about getting older...about reaching true wisdom, understanding and enlightenment. Jim was never a bad looking dude, but his older, greyer, wrinkled face I see as wonderful evidence of a journey; of a life lived and, more importantly, learned from! 6:48 😭 And how incredibly apt was him doing Truman Show?? ❤

So, after years of pursuing his own goals and making tens of millions of dollars doing it, this druggie home wrecker who influenced a young married woman to take her life, is now penitent and telling you that your own aspirations are not important. Don't buy into this bullshit. I've had a great fifty plus years pursuing and achieving my goals. Don't use this guy's spiritual pie-in-the-sky, kumbaya nonsense as an excuse not to achieve yours.

To understand what he means and what ego really is and how we spend way too much enery trying to gratify it only to eventually realize (for some) that it doesnt make us _truly_ happy and fullfilled I can't recommend the book *The power of now* enough. Literally changed my life by bringing me understanding about myself, conciousness and "reality" as a whole.

I always love it when a person with an ego big enough to get them all the way to the top, which does not happen to humble people by the way, suddenly start telling people who have never had a big ego, and thus have not accomplished alot, to not have a big ego. How highly you think of yourself is directly responsible for how much you achieve, which is why the top end of every hierarchy is where you will find all of the people ruled by dark triad traits. I think it's far more likely when you see a person like this, they are looking back and lamenting on the selfish people they once were, and are unfortunately only preaching to the choir, because the younger generation of selfish people are not going to absorb this message. So you end up with someone who used to be selfish and egotistical but age and life lessons have mellowed and humbled them, and the only people who are actually listening to their warning are the people who were already mellow and humble enough to be considerate of the message.
