That's what I like about a lot of the 'black' music from the 60s and 70s; soul, R&B and Motown (I'm far from an expert as to which was which in a lot of cases!), they had lyrics that actually meant something and had neat rhymes (I was born in '81 so my favourite decade of music, though full of great sounds, was guilty of gibberish lyrics and a lack of pleasing rhymes - at least people in the 60s writing things like Matchstick Men had the excuse of being on another planet due to the myriad drugs they were taking!). This song has a lot of that quality in it. The words are true and intelligently chosen, flow and rhyme neatly; perfect.

Please take me back to 1976, please I plead. I remember when this song came out. I was young and wild, but damn I had good taste in music. This song has kept me dancing from 1976 right up to 2019. "YOU TO ME ARE EVERYTHING" changed the discotheques of yesteryear for good. The ambience, the turntables, and the coloured disco floors were changed forever. Even the massive speakers would keep on singing this song right up to 2019 and beyond. I am an old man and I am stuck in a musical time warp. I am not willing to wake up and leave and nor do I have any intentions to. Treasured gems are my memories of yesteryear and especially of The Real Thing and their great musical talent. R.I.P Eddy Amoo & Ray Lake. What I wouldn't do right now to relive and turn back time to those golden, special moments in time. To The Real Thing, thank you for the beautiful music that you shared, your legendary status and legacy will remain for eternity . Even though I am old, you may ask, Any Regrets? Nah!! I've had fun and a good life and a good time. "THE MIND STILL SEES, THE HEART WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER" 🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶 🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶 🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺

I was thirteen when this song was released in 1976. And that year was t h e year of so many world hits. I still love this song and I could hear it all day long. It makes me happy right from the intro. To me this group should have the same recognition as the Commodores, the Temptations, Earth, Wind and Fire, the (Detroit) Spinners, the Manhattans and some more. But they only had this one superhit. So they are totally underrated. But this tune will hopefully played forever...

You To Me Are Everything - Lyrics I would take the stars out of the sky for you Stop the rain from falling if you asked me to I'd do anything for you, your wish is my command I could move a mountain when your hand is in my hand Words cannot express how much you mean to me There must be some other way to make you see If it takes my heart and soul, you know I'd pay the price Everything that I possess I'd gladly sacrifice Oh, you to me are everything The sweetest song that I could sing Oh, baby, oh, baby To you I guess I'm just a clown Who picks you up each time you're down Oh, baby, oh, baby Give me just a taste of love To build my hopes upon You know you've got the power girl To keep me holding on So now you've got the best of me Come on and take the rest of me Oh, baby Though you're close to me, we seem so far apart Maybe given time you'll have a change of heart If it takes forever, girl, then I'm prepared to wait The day you give your love to me, won't be a day too late Oh, you to me are everything The sweetest song that I could sing Oh, baby, oh, baby To you I guess I'm just a clown Who picks you up each time you're down Oh, baby, oh, baby You give me just a taste of love To build my hopes upon You know you've got the power girl To keep me holding on So now you've got the best of me Come on and take the rest of me Oh, baby Oh, you to me are everything The sweetest song that I could sing Oh, baby (oh, baby) Oh, baby (yes, I need you baby) You to me are everything The sweetest song that I could sing Oh, baby (you are everything to me) Oh, baby (can't you see?) You to me are everything The sweetest song that I could sing Oh, baby Oh, baby (you're everything) You to me are everything The sweetest song that I could sing Oh, baby (the sweetest song) Oh, baby You to me are everything The sweetest song that I could sing Oh, baby, oh, baby

As a child of the 60's and a teenager of the 70's, it makes me feel good to see so very many people comment how those decades were so great. I don't think it is only because we were so young then. It is also because the world was a gentler place (yes, I know, it still had some big problems all the same). The never to be repeated, wonderful music of the times was a big, big factor in this. Music then was good natured, tuneful and inclusive. With very few exceptions, today it is the opposite. Where has all the song-writing talent gone? I'd go back to being 10 years old in 1970 like a shot if it was possible. Sadly, it is not so those of my generation carry on with great memories of the happiest two decades of the past 100 years to sustain us.

Do tell, why did they have to fight off the black american singer song writers? The biggest detriment to black British songwriters was racism in the industry and the lack of support at home. Despite this, some bands in the 80's/90's succeeded like Soul to Soul, Junior, and Loose Ends(one of my favorites).
