James Cagney was on set on a very hot Summers day in 1962. filming "321". He took a break one lunchtime and wondered why he was working in the studio when he could enjoy the beautiful weather. He only acted to "put the bacon on the table", and announced his retirement. He became a farmer.

Ayouba Swaray you know someone asked him why he does so many movies and he said he saw life go so fast so he wants to enjoy doing what he loves the rest of his days. Gene Hackman for example writes he retired from acting way too son I think. We forget that they are doing a job they loved, how many make it big, very few, it most take a lot to stop doing it.

Jack Nicholson has nothing more to prove to anything or anybody anymore! His legendary movie career and accolades speak volumes for themselves. I'm quite certain that he's earned the respect of everyone out there in the Hollywood community.

I'd assume it was production issues. Usually if a movie get's too many rewrites and reshoots the costs will eventually add up regardless of genre. Still it's a baffling amount that you'd expect more from an action blockbuster :P

i honestly thought that the video will start with "he died, now on to how he died!", i was scared shitless because he holds a special place in my heart.

My dad took early retirement at 64. He died just two weeks before his 65th birthday. I planned to retire at 55 and did so. I wasnt going the way Dad did. I'm 68 now and still enjoying retirement lol. Roll on Jack, way to go.

I was in a Cafe Xmas eve day 2010 Near Palm Springs up on the mountain And Mr. Nicholson was there and in full Grandeur and Charisma the little place was just electric with his awesomeness!!!

Absolutely love Jack Nicholson. Let him enjoy his twilight years. One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest is still my favourite film, 37 years after first watching it. Brilliant film with superb performances from Louise Fletcher, Brad Duriff, Christopher Lloyd, Danny Dee Vito, William Renfield and many others. And who could forget Scatman Carruthers as Mr Terquel and the big Chief.

Jack Nicholson has been in so many movies that he would not want to act anymore. He's successful and retired. Its normal even for actors. They happen to be real people as we are. Not robots. Yes they get older and have desire to relax and enjoy life by laying on the beach with a margarita or playing bingo with friends. Nicholson has always been one of my fav actors along with Sean Connery. Legends!!!

He's got 3 Oscars for acting and he's got possibly the best resume of any actor in movie history. He's done enough.

I gotta respect a man who recognizes that even his chosen career in life- irregardless how much he enjoyed it- is willing to set it aside- in order to enjoy the twilight years of his life. I applaud you Mr. Nickelson, for doing what is right for you. Not for us.

He’s one of the greatest actors, who has grown old and retired. It’s really no surprise that he has, he probably just wants to relax and spend time with his family, he can’t exactly focus on his career forever.
