This video reminds me of when in New York City during the 60s to the 80s in the Bronx was burning down with the rest of the city. Back then we called it FDNY's WAR YEARS. I was an Auxiliary Fire Captain and I often rode with The Super Pumper's Satellite No. 1. Which was quartered on Spring Street and Canal Street in Manhattan. I held the record for the only Auxiliary that has responded to the most Fifth Alarms with a fire company. We had our own CD Fire Apparatus. Back then we were a part of New York City's Civil Defense Program. No closed cabs and no Walkie Talkies. On the Engine Company we rode on the BACK STEP or on the SIDES of the Ladder Company. The siren was a Federal 28 Manually operated by the Company Officer who used his foot to depress the siren button and air horns. When we were returning to quarters he would ring the Bell on the apparatus, which you guys in the UK call a fire APPLIANCE.

Thanks for uploading all of these brilliant videos. I remember watching them as a kid and the music alone brings back really exciting memories. Programs like this have given me an eternal love and respect for firefighters 😊

This is when Chanel 5 was still young, you can tell the the symbol in the top left corner. I’d say 1999. At least. The chip pan fire was dated 1997.
