The Question You Need To Ask Yourself

There were two friends that grew up together.
However after they were done with their education, they went their separate ways.
One friend became extremely successful in every aspect.
The other friend however, became the exact opposite.
But no matter how different their lives became, those two friends still kept in touch.
In fact, they talked to each other every day.
That's because those two friends were actually the same person.
The first friend was that person's best and ideal version, while the second one was his worst version.
You and me both have those two friends inside of us. All of us do.
And we have the potential to become either one of them.
Which one we end up becoming though, is determined by the choices we make each and every day.

This is a really valuable perspective. To take this a bit further, your current version may not be as bad as your worst version, but you will still compare yourself to your best version. This may make you feel like you are so far away from this version, and may never be capable of becoming that version, because the gap is so big. By taking steps towards that version it can give you confidence that you are making progress towards that version and reducing the gap every day.

@@vendogg hello vendogg, I don't think matters will improve by therapy. I'm hitting fifty and I feel this way since the age of six. At six I entered primary school, and because this was in a Catholic college we've also got religious lessons. Here I've learned about the life of Jesus Christ and the way the good man was treated by his equals, the torment and bloodshed, the maliciousness that exists within people. Indeed when examining the world I was living in I could see that these things were happening for real every day all over the globe, these things and even worse , unimaginable cruelty and agony since as long as life existed. This is a game of eating or being eaten, a place where the law of the strongest prevails. Existence isn't meaningless , it is about refined suffering. Horrified by this knowledge I learned to play the game and it looks as if I'm actually good in it but I hate it to the bone. How can someone really experience enjoyment I ask myself when you know all the grief and pain there is ? When I'm start laughing I start to feel guilty.....a pointless agony is likely a better description of life, at least the life of someone with a flilantropic attitude . After all, no good deed rests unpunished. To fully enjoy life one has to be totally unscrupulous, non empathetic and super egoistic of character. For such people life is one big roller coaster of joy, unrestrained pleasure and ecstasy. Never the less also for these kind of people there is no garantee, derailing of the roller coaster is not excluded and it is a certainty that the roller coaster ends up in station terminus to.......because one can only live in the moment, the last conscious moment is determinative to conclude what life is.....all the last moments of other people I've witnessed where full of suffer, pain and grief, therefore life is suffering..... that's why I say " it's better never to have been" I do my time here in this awful prison and hope my punishment will be over once I've completed my sentence.

Felt like I needed this … not to long ago I felt I was beginning to fall in a rut … now I'm realizing I'm simply run out of choices to make simply because I wont do anything better today, as you said sometimes we think our future self will be more motivated or driven when in actual reality it is now at this time and place that gives you that power to decide on where you going to be … these are my responsibilities and ive got to follow through as I said I will... and not be a half filled book.

Choices are important but a one should not stress himself up. Because when you repeat to yourself"I must do this" you'll end up putting a lot of pressure om your shoulder which can't be handled by your mind. Instead let's try to make good choices but to forgive ourselves and ovoid overthinking.

I used to be the worst version of myself. I watch nonsense videos, play video games, eat junk foods, become lazy to do workout and read nonsense posts from my Facebook feed. But now, I chose to be the best version of my self. I'm always watching self-help books, eat healthy, do daily workouts and learn something valuable on Facebook.
