The Problem with Police Dogs

Policing in America has been under intense scrutiny for the past few years. Though issues such as police accountability and oversight are of greater prominence, the use of police dogs is seldom discussed. Police dogs are often viewed as benign or positive components of law enforcement, but the reality does not bear this out. From issues of inaccuracy to excessive force, reforming the K9 department is a vital component of police reform overall.

I think the capability of police to essentially terrorize an individual purely on their own presumption of guilt was just barely hinted at here. The tragedy of innocent dogs being used as tools for carrying out inaccurate yet somehow trustworthy drug searches is not to be understated, but there's definitely more fuel for another video here. Between Civil Asset Forfeitures, Qualified Immunity, the ability to force engagements with impunity, the highly inaccurate drug screening tools and practices that are in place, and unions strong enough to practically guarantee an instated officer will hardly, if ever, face consequences for anything but the most grievous abuse of their position, the state of policing in America is insane.

Great video. Thank you for talking about the inaccuracies of police dogs. This topic is extremely important and I'm glad you explored the problems with police dogs. I'm subscribed to your channel. ❤ Are you going to make similar videos like this or are you a gaming-only channel? ● Also, police can target minority groups and they discriminate against these minority groups. And police dogs will have biases against these minority groups too. We should address these biases.

I appreciate it, and I'm glad you got something from this vid. I wouldn't consider this to be a gaming channel per se, I kinda just cover whatever topics I think are interesting or important, and I've covered criminal justice and societal issues in the past. I'm looking at another video discussing the American prison system in comparison to other more developed countries' prison systems, shat can be learned from them, and how we can improve. This would probably be something for later this year.

Love the videos and this topic is another interesting banger. Insane how normalized it is. As a thought experiment, let's assume a benevolant cop with the best intentions or even a robot cop with no biases whatsoever... Even then the dog is still wrong half the time or more? How is this an acceptable system at all?....

Glad you enjoyed it man, and yeah this was an eye opening topic to explore. Yeah, it's honestly startling how normalized and accepted these gross inaccuracies are. I know that there are numerous dogs that have respectable accuracy rates and are properly led/trained, but the pervasiveness of grossly inaccurate dogs is honestly sad.

My question is who got these dogs hooked on drugs.
