xQc and the Insidious Industry of Online Gambling
Ойын-сауық
Gambling is stupid, and online gambling is more stupid. Also Twitch announced their ban on online gambling as I was editing so this video may or may not be relevant :)

"I can afford to be ill! I'm lucky!" Part of me thinks that statements like that are words that someone chest deep in a gambling addiction would say. It's horrifying to look at and it really is a bad influence on more impressionable audiences.

100%. If you get to that point and are being sincere (which I think xQc was in that video) then you have a pretty severe addiction.
It's absolutely ridiculous how long it has taken Twitch to crack down on gambling. Fuck them.

Twitch is an absolute joke, what do you expect. The reckoning they've received in light of their recent awful policy decisions and braindead moderation has been a long time coming and it hopefully either forces them to hard course correct or die the ignoble death they deserve at this point.

It's sad that in the process of shilling for gambling company and making millions of dollars, you end up with an underlying gambling addiction. Gambling addictions are one of the worst addictions, you lose everything and don't even get high.

The gambling industry just in general is truly disgusting. The house always wins, and it's foundation is built on destitute corpses.
Enjoyed the info on the issues of current online gambling. Bonus point for Metroid Prime OST making it's way into the background music of the video.

Online Gambling infecting Mobile Game landscape since gambling regulation here still non-existence but also use influencer is pretty cost effective to drag young people become gambling addicts and boy especialy if the game have Anime aesthetic make it way more lethal and more of these young people naively defend the shady practice disguised as casino, sadly it is very effective. I've seen enough of these here in game community become compromished for years. Also quite inretesting that crypto bros try so hard to also inject gambling stuff with their "metaverse" or their "game" but it just backfires especialy with the recent crypto bros meltdown.

I presume you're referring to the Chinese market. Yeah I've heard awful things about the state of the Chinese mobile and gaming scene. Influencer marketing is such a gross, insidious tactic, as it gives a human and friendly face to often horrible products. Anything crypto nowadays is just a fucking scam, so the fact a lot of these crypto projects implement gambling systems is unsurprising. Upshot is that the perception of crypto is sure to fall even more after the whole FTX thing. At the the very least the folks likely to be bilked nowadays are the fools who've already drank the Kool aid and would get conned either way. As an aside, I actually have another video talking about some of the culty and ridiculous aspects of the crypto community, check it out if you haven't man, and thanks for the comment.

@@CiggySnake it's not really just Chinese market, Asian mobile market (SEA too) is already corrupted , the Chinese market specificly are notoriously copy-paste what successfull came from Japan then follow that business model but do it more predatory and even blatant plagiarism, sadly many just shrug it off like it's a normal thing. Too bad the success of current games are indeed from Chinese market even many current big companies like Sony are slowly moving into game as a service disguise as casino market, Activsion with their Diablo Immortal, despide the criticsm yet there is people still gullible enough to play and spent thousnads of bucks still make decent revenue, they know Mobile player are very exploitable so other are try to follow the trend.

@@chenchen6150 Oh I'm well aware the Chinese market is utterly shameless and has zero respect for IP law, it's as ridiculous as it is sad. Hard agree. The gachafication of the industry, coupled with live services that fail 2 years in has utterly denigrated the games industry. Also yeah, mobile gamers are largely devoid of taste and standards, but thanks to the fact they're the lowest common denominator (and I mean really fucking low), it's infected and harmed the rest of the industry.

@@CiggySnake *oof* what you are saying how mobile game community devolving is pretty much accurate as I'm part of the community but slowly just snithcing them to the point leave them slowly. Too bad the only games in mobile that are are decent paid games (generaly 5 bucks) rythm games and few live service that actualy care with their playerbase. Way too many Free to play live services game and try banking on people though the game they play are very consumer friendly which is a very very few games manage to hold that.

Whenever this channel posts, my snake goes from limp straight to solid. And I have to pop a ciggy by the end of it. By the way, it made me think - maybe youtube hampers your growth because you have a cigarette on your avatar and have a "ciggarette" in your name? KZread does not like cigs at all.

Appreciated as always Baka 9. Regarding growth, I doubt it has to do with the icon or my name. It's more that the KZread algorithm is in such an absurd state that it fucks over smaller channels. It's nothing targeted per se, just a broken system. Hopefully in time more of my vids can enter the algorithm or get pushed. Again, your support and kind words are always appreciated, and feel free to share around this/other videos to (hopefully) help in the algorithm.

Oh 100%. Kids see trainwrecks or xQc winning hundreds of thousands, if not millions in funny money, they get that second hand dopamine hit, and end up participating in the hyper predatory online gambling space. Genuinely sick and immoral.
I think Twitch now need to expand this rule to games with anything similar to gocha mechanics. Video games with microtransaction gocha is nothing better than Las Vegas slot machine with a little bit of story cutscene
@CiggySnake

Agreed, gacha systems do more harm than good both to consumers and the broader games industry. In a similar vein you have Kick, which is just a front to filter kids to actual gambling sites (never mind the genuinely terrible people they platform and push). Coincidentally the gacha issue is the subject of a vid currently in progress, so stay tuned for that.
"A fool and his money are soon parted" - this is the problem and those bans achieve nothing in fixing it. They'll just find another way to promote. Whichever platform welcomes those streamers will have a shot at overtaking Twitch. The actual solution would be teaching basic statistics instead of memorising multiplication tables.

While I agree that better education to help prevent people from falling prey to these predatory industries is the best move, limiting the exposure these industries receive through wonton advertising is at the very least helpful. Also twitch seems to be on it's way out either way lmao

@@CiggySnake Yes. A few individuals who would get hooked after watching their streams and by the power of randomness from an extremely large pool, would never again see ads of online gambling before learning how to calculate odds would be saved. the lack of coverage on trainwrecks is understandable, given the real topic at hand isn't necessarily twitch drama. to make a long story short, the man operates essentially like a mobster, paying off twitch staff to keep his stream safe while his primary, nearly singular form of content is sponsored gambling streams. no personality to speak of, just quietly and contemplatively flushing money down the toilet that wasn't his to begin with

I don't like XQC and can't stand him for more than 10 minutes or so, yet during those 10 minutes I'm at LEAST somewhat entertained D: This video though, couldn't stand more than 2 minutes and kind of want to puke, the narration is so darn dry. Ciggy said it best: "He is as much an advertisement for gambling as he is a clear sign to avoid the vice" - I'm definitely in the category of people that wants to avoid gambling - thanks to XQC. So it isn't that clear-cut.

xQc's audience prior to his gambling streams probably weren't heavy gamblers to begin with. I fully agree and acknowledge that plenty of individuals will never engage in the practice after seeing xQc's descent into a literal degenerate gambler. However you have a number of individuals getting into and potentially addicted to gambling who likely wouldn't have had it not been for xQc and his gambling streams. Therein is my primary issue, that whatever good he's cultivated by being a cautionary tale is far outweighed by the negative impact of getting more and more people into gambling.
sports gambling is still allowed because nfl deal though.

Yeah, it's like sports betting and poker or something. For me, I'm not enthralled that they're still letting those forms of gambling stay up. However, they're not nearly as addictive as slots and the other forms of gambling twitch recently banned.
How is this a Downfall when dude literally solo'd every streamer and Twitch left and right. "The wrath of a Goblin" would be a fitting title. The only Streamer that secured W's during the whole month of Twitch cremation. Dude literally was incinerating every streamer left and right.
