The power of discomfort | Vera Strauch | TEDxTUBerlin

You are talking to a relative, friend or colleague and suddenly they say something that is the opposite of your personal beliefs - but instead of speaking up, you stay quiet. Although it bugs you and you want to convince this person from your stance. Why is that so? Because it is unsafe, uncomfortable. In such situations, Vera Strauch argues to go the uncomfortable way. Seconds of discomfort can ensure a life of integrity and meaningful change. In her talk, Vera will show us a way how to handle situations of discomfort to find growth in them. It's time to become uncomfortable!

Vera Strauch is a digital entrepreneur, podcaster and founder of the Female Leadership Academy, a digital education start-up. She studied business economics in Germany and New Zealand and graduated in International Business in the US. In 2015, she became one of the first women in the industry under the age of 30 to become CEO of a mid-sized construction supplier. For three years, she managed 100+ employees at several production sites and got to know strongly male-dominated management environments. She gained valuable experiences and was able to witness what great things can happen when differences are accepted and people embrace diversity and change.
Today, Vera is rethinking business and work. Since 2018, Vera and her team at the Female Leadership Academy have been guiding women in their professional and personal development. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

What a beautiful and powerful speech Vera. I agree, we are all in "this" together (whatever "this" may be). It's not easy to be uncomfortable, but that doesn't mean that it is impossible.
