The postman never wanted to be a hero. He just wanted to have his peace of mind, to not have to worry about anything but himself. Or, God forbid, to be changing history. But fate would have it otherwise. Unexpectedly, he became a symbol, a pioneer - the first to be looked up to by others (to his amazement and surprise). Although rather clumsily, he fulfilled this role. And that is the greatest strength of the story.

Most people will likely miss the important theme of this movie. Communication between the peoples of the world is vital to maintain freedom. Every Communist/socialist oppressive regime seeks to control the flow of information to keep people from organizing any kind of revolt. Communication is key to organization. What we have now in the US is the beginnings of the control of information. People, please stop believing every thing you read or hear on the news and use a readily available resource like the internet to research and consider different points of view before making your decisions. If I have learned anything in my 56 years on this earth that is if something sounds too good to be true then it most likely is. There are no easy paths to a successful happy life of freedom.

Couldn’t agree with you more man, people need to see the big picture and more messages/ movies like this need to get out there. It’s sad because they won’t because they have so much control of what information people receive and it makes you beg the differ if we are truly free today. I’m 16 and I’m gonna try my hardest to inform some but build that patriotic bone up as well.

To this kid the idea of a world with fireman , a policeforce and alkl the other things we take for granted must sound like a far flung paradise the idea of not only trusting a stranger that comes to your farm not to take all you have must seem ludacriss but yet here he comes a postman one of the the many things lost to the past and his mom tells him its ok, you can trust him he will take your words and carry them far away^and if they find their goal he will carry a answer back as well. @@Booster6969 1. A lot of amazing stuff is produced nowadays because streaming as freed producers from the tyranny of the least come denominator. 2. This scene is amazing and one of the great emotional moments in Cinema there is so much condensed into 2 minutes that it is hard not to be overwhelmed. A letter is being written possibly to a relative the boy has never met. A strange is approaching the farm the mother is not alarmed wich is likely a first considering what we know about this world. This is likely the first stranger that the boy has ever seen his mom trust. If he gives this stranger a letter his words will travel to places far beyond the reach of his short legs and he might even receive a response. Just like that civilization comes flooding back the mystica world he only knows from the stories of grownups. But oh now, he missed the postman it's ruined gone the most exciting moment of his life turned to dust. But wait The postman halts turns around a second chance And in one glorious instant a letter is handed over and the world becomes smaller It becomes a place he can reach with his words It becomes a place where there are strangers you can trust It becomes civilized All of this in just 2 minutes

It is one of my favorites

I don't feel free , only as a kid going as high on the swings as it would allow dreaming of what was to come was brilliant, its gone now😔
ThiS scene is THE moment his character went from reluctantly 'going along with' and resisting what he accidently started (jusT to geT fooD etc.) ...to Finally DecidinG to BE The Postman(!) ... The scene's repeated at the End of the film with a statue and biG Soundtrack Moment that puts Tears in my eyes. ...in the final repeat you get to see an extra 5 seconds where the child Laughs before returning to the house which makes you happy. THEN ...you find out that it's Actually Kevin Costner's Son playing the child :) lol ...i can neveR watch the last 90 seconds without tearing up :) lol

Why?
The boy is costner son
The most unfairly maligned movie of the decade.
Don't know why it never occurred to me that this was a "post apoc" movie/book But it was great
My favorite part
Freedom
and the Family Guy ending is him having to turn around to go back the way he was headed, awkwardly of course.
That's Costner's son holding the letter. All his kids were in the movie. His oldest is the carrier they first meet on the trail after winter. I owned this on VHS. My buddy and I watched it a bunch. Never understood the hate. Everyone I know who's seen it likes it. But it's made so many lists of worst movies ever. Probably bc they love to hate on Costner. The best scene is when he knocks over the cigarette machine and says "I'm rich!"
In questo film Kevin Kostner a qualcosa di semplice e buono come su tutti i suoi film
Remember that face guys? Thats hope 😔

@@gabegu5102 They should have. Otherwise, one might believe that he just kept on going the way he came, or he just turned around and rode back past Anakin and his cute mum and her Disney-esque commoner garb. The whole house is falling apart, she clearly really "wants" to be a tailor, and the boy is a character out of a Charles Dicken's novel. That fence is well crafted and kept...got to have strong boundaries.
I heard they were going to make an updaters remake called “the Amazon Prime Delivery Driver” with President Jeff Bezos…

Probaly a family member he only know from his moms stories about the the time before the blast a uncle or a grandparent perhaps somone that is to far away to find in any case. And just like that the glorious world of days gone by comes flooding back.
