THE POINT OF BEING ALIVE by Alan Watts (SHOTS OF WISDOM 2)

Check out the entire Alan Watts Playlist: • Alan Watts Playlist
To the human mind, that wants to complicate everything, the highest truth ought to be something one should strive for. The mystical experience must be something that could only be possible after a long, tedious journey of disciplined and methodical practice of some sort. Alan Watts challenges this approach and explains, in his unique way of making complex concepts appear so shockingly obvious, how this is no so.

Amazing that 50 yrs after his death millions of people find solace in his philosophy I could listen to him another 20 yrs more if I had them I hope I do just to listen Although some of his talks are dated just because they are so old. I wonder what he would say about people that believe there are hundreds of genders and that one of those genders is fluid. and that a gender has nothing to do with biology and that men are equal in strength as a woman. What would he think about Bud light is no longer number one….regardless I will support his foundation till I die. His paradigm is the only one that makes sense and his roots in Christiandom is what helped him arrive at his paradigm. Rest in pease Alan watts and welcome back to who ever came or will come back.

Since this is a segment of a bigger lecture, it would be good if you would also post the entire lecture and link to it. Then we could experience both and you could get more revenue from each. For the longer lectures please don't include added music. Thank you for posting this and the others.

A sincere and authentic effort to depict an unimaginable feeling into words. Something "whimsical" (as he says) which takes over the moment.

@@rabbitgregory9289Hello Gregory. Absolutely, the memory of the experience has shaped who “I” am today. There is a reason why Psychedelic plants and fungi have been used as sacraments throughout the ages.

It baffles me how and why someone would click on an Allen Watts video to then go directly to complaining...not even vocally, which would be bad enough, but taking the time to type out their complaints. It seems it would take a walking, breathing oxymoron to do such a thing.

I wish He would've sent more of them through Quality Control before allowing them to live. As an aged human tree with too many rings I have reached the conclusion that about 25-30% of all humans are nasty and this includes both men and women. Luckily the majority are cool but honestly, child abusers? men who engage in domestic abuse? rapists and murderers? Jeffry Dahmer? Charles Manson? Hitler? Lying politicians? Please tell us the "purpose" of these people? Inquiring minds want to know.... Good thing I'm not GOD! I would have NO patience with people like these.

Critical thinking and understanding Requires intuition, prior comprehension of information and an inquisite mind. If one’s highest thinking is which titty bar will I vist first or which hot chick one is to simp in the hopes rubbing against their kitty while being used as a fool then there is little hope of understanding the words he said and what Mr Watts was talking about and it will require more living with a good dose of dukka to even come close to understanding. How did I do in saying words that mean nothing now? Are you simping any one?
