25 minutes of pure GENIUS - ALAN WATTS on the SYMBOL WITH NO MEANING

In this video remixed from a rare early radio series, Alan Watts analyses the paper "THE SYMBOL WITH NO MEANING" by Joseph Campbell.
His explanation helps us shatter the rigid structures and see the essence of us , away from dogmas and as a pure expression of the universe.
Alan Watts Bio
Alan Watts was a British philosopher and writer who gained worldwide recognition for his insightful views on philosophy, personal growth, creativity, and spirituality. He was born on January 6, 1915, in Chislehurst, England, and died on November 16, 1973, in his home in California, USA.
Watts was renowned for his ability to communicate complex philosophical concepts in a way that was accessible to the general public. He believed that philosophy should not be confined to academic institutions but should be a part of everyday life.
He was an advocate of personal growth, which he believed was a continuous process of self-discovery and expansion of one's consciousness. He believed that true personal growth was not just about acquiring knowledge or skills but involved a deepening of our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
Alan Watts was also a strong proponent of creativity, which he saw as an essential aspect of human existence. He believed that creativity was a means of expressing our innermost selves and connecting with something larger than ourselves.
He had a deep interest in spirituality and believed that it was not just about religion or dogma but was a way of being in the world. He saw spirituality as a means of connecting with ourselves, others, and the universe at large.

The answers we seek are within LITERALLY that phrase is not a cryptic metaphor or anything it's a fact and the only way ..I can promise you that.. meaning every single person on this planet has ALL THE ANSWERS AND INFORMATION deeply ingrained in our minds already FACT and we can remember them in deep thoughts, like you ever stopped paying attention in a conversation and came back saying " I'm sorry I got lost in thought" well that's where this information is in that deep thoughts mode where you zone out of this world in combination with our mental visualization like day dreaming, fantasy mind and whatever helps YOU get there like meditation, music, and whatever else that helps you get to a quite place of deep thoughts in your mind , do whatever it is you do that puts you in that deep comfortable thought not the what am going to do, bills and stress of life thought , the " I wonder why plants grow better when you talk to them and do ghosts watch me pee?" Deep thoughts 🤗🙏 and simply ask for God source of light however you see it and ask any & everyone in the universe to come help you in your head or asking outloud is a strong start, and they will and you will see for yourself how that works bc it's specifically designed for you alone. Get in that deep thought and let it flow , whatever comes in your mind even if you think it's silly or irrelevant or your doing it wrong let it flow regardless try not to lead the narrative on what you think it should be and just let it come as it is and honestly anyone who may read this and don't already know should disregard everything I write after this , put it on a shelf for later bc I know it can mess you up in this if I elaborate to much on my own experiences, I'm in a stage of a strong compulsion to share this gift with everyone but we should only offer seeds ( sparks of inspiration) for those who want to accept the seed and let them plant it n grow in their own spiritual journey. That's why the solitude or isolation is an important factor, a time for you to cut off all outside information and get the inside information, like 10% of outside information is good if something resonates aka you remember it and then go into your deep thoughts to thoroughly understand it again , some people visualize the GREAT LIBRARY in us and ask for the book on what you want to know specifically and their are meditations on that , but you do have to cut off the world to an extent so you don't go crazy .. its important you stay away from other people and their views while you find the true correct lessons n answers we tend to have this reflex in wanting and finding validation in people resonating and sharing the same ideas " well if they believe it or feel it to then it's real and I'm not crazy" well actually no 🥴 and I still struggle in this reflex. Here's the thing you will have a deep connection, awareness or core knowing that the things you see, feel n think in that deep thought , library however you see it n tap in, and you feel the answers are true you will feel it deep in your bones and core but it's common for some of us to not 💯 accept this truth, we resist it at first alot of times bc it's going to go against the logic and reasoning you have now or before this stage and I went through what they call the madness of searching for anyone who could validate what I was experiencing but here's the thing we all have perspective and if everyone did this and told each other the answers we received they will be different versions, perspectives and visuals and may get caught up in the difference of perception and not recognize the common denominator at first.... this can mess with our heads and we doubt what we learned and get scared of being judged, seen as crazy or over active imagination and can go down a rabbit hole of looking for other people's perspectives and try to ulter our own to align with theirs so removing all outside information for a time period can speed up the process of letting go of everything you thought you knew n understood and allowing yourself to remember & reeducate yourself in what you've always known but forgot . Everything else will follow on it's own, the best advice is no advice really, but offer what you learn and share it if you like but don't get caught up on a mission to MAKE PEOPLE understand bc that is not within our control , eventually things will make more sense than ever , and every religion, Jesus, Budda and all the gods n profits are all talking about the same thing in their own perspectives within their era, and you can reach a point in this where we can understand all of the religious scripture , and all the mythologies bc we know what they're explaining bc we see past the limits within their era and the language & terminology they used to spark awareness to the people of that time. Anyhow I hope something in this helps anyone in anyway to start this amazing journey, YOUR JOURNEY bc you are the only one who can find these answers , the deep healing and profound peace ... ❤ All my love to you all ❤🙏🥰

It is real because it is so personal. After living a life where God was perceived, understood and rationalized through an institution, I suddenly said that there must be more. It felt like an exhaustion vis-a-vis the same explanations given by all religions. Thus, I felt pushed, in a violent way, if it is possible to use that word for this spiritual need, to leave everything and search at the individual level. In this new way of seeing things, I must admit that Carlos Castaneda's The Teachings of Don Juan proved to be quite enlightening.

Symbol with no meaning, is the meaning of that symbol though... if you know. Otherwise you'd have to use a new unknown symbol but then you might accidentally use an existing symbol so either way there can't be a symbol with no meaning, because to be a symbol it has to be known at least once before but if you know it it has a meaning. Placeholders but the same thing occurs there.

This doesn't sound like Watts. Please be honest and state a source or confirm if this is AI generated and being passed off as Watts. Otherwise this is highly deceptive.

Hi, It is Alan Watts - the recording is from a Radio series he did in 1960 with Pacifica Radio in Los Angeles. He did about 25 programmes, covering different topics. This one was called "RETURN TO THE FOREST" a topic is later came back to in a number of lectures and conferences throughout the years. The Alan Watts foundation has a package called the EARLY RADIO TALKS that include it.

"No example of this symbol is found before agrarian societies". Not true. Paleolithic art and stone carvings. The solar cross is found on rock art of indeterminate age.

Hi, It is not. It is the actual audio file from a series of Radio Talks/Monologues he did between 1960 and 1961 in Pacifica Radio Station in Los Angeles. These were short (approx 25-30min) segments were he would focus on a topic relevant of the time and analyse it. These are earlier and less spontaneous talks than the ones with public and interaction , due to the fixed segment recording. Still phenomenally deep and insightful. You can listen to all of them here: alanwatts.com/products/early-radio-talks. . This particular one is "Return to the Forest"

I would have treasured Alan's assessment and critique of the Greatest Religion On Earth... I invented the GROE in 1991 however there were years of benefits earned before then. Be well, as well as you can, without access to the real truth.

Forcing closed captions on the viewer is similar to the doctrinaire psychotherapists that Watts describes in this video. CC can be turned off and on at will in the bottom corner of the screen and yet someone decided that if we want to watch the video we must endure the text. It is extremely distracting and transforms listening into reading, which has the ego nurturing effect of turning words of wisdom into symbols, which he also covered. The lecture is elegant and brilliant but the video presentation is is full of garbage text and above all stock photos of the most childish visual interpretations that are clearly being presented to parrot the speakers thoughts but only project mundane distraction at the level of effort this video was made. Remove the Anima Creativa from this video and it's pretty damn good. It's like you made this entire video without really listening.

Fuckin wafts bro... this stuff is so fundamental now it just seems so obvious it's verging on dumb. But... these ideas also took a long time to germinate and maybe now are barely taking root in our minds and we think of them as obvious, but it's not so obvious if you never learned about it before. Still don't like these though. Im a naysayer!

You put out some valuable content. A little off topic maybe, but there’s this woman I got in touch with during the market downsizing which cost me my job. Ms. Norman Davis helped me manage my assets by introducing my to the best trading platform and strategies, I earned a lot of $$$ working with Norman at the comfort of my home. I still keep in touch with the amazing lady

I have a master in mathematical finance, so it wasn’t so easy to get me convinced to begin an investment without me carrying out proper research on her. I had her broker ID checked and she’s fully verified! So I began with a few bucks, only to get huge returns in a month. I reinvested and now I get long term monthly returns… So glad I don’t rely on pay checks anymore.
